Chapter 74 Stuck in the Rain

Victoria took a deep breath as she entered the room.
However, as soon as she stepped inside, the door was closed from the outside. The sound of the door closing made her heart skip a beat, and she instinctively turned to look at the doorway.
"Vicky, make sure you give me a great-grandchild soon," Old Lady Harrington's voice echoed from outside.
Victoria felt extremely embarrassed.
"Go get ready for bed; we can't leave because of the rain," came a faint voice from the sofa. It was only then that she noticed he was sitting there.
For over two years, she lived here calmy, but now, her heart raced with the thought that they would be sharing the room again tonight. Would he misbehave again?
She went to take a shower, but once inside the bathroom, she locked the door from the inside.
Meanwhile, Alexander lay on the sofa, casually reading the news on his phone.
He merely chuckled at the sound of the door locking.
However, soon after, a phone call came in.
Looking somewhat uncomfortable, he answered, "Hello? When? I'll be right there."
After finishing her shower, Victoria cautiously unlocked the door from the inside.
Upon realizing he wasn't in the room, she stepped out.
Her phone rang, and seeing it was Alexander, she immediately answered, "Hello?"
"Isabella isn't feeling well; I'm going over to check on her."
"Oh."
She didn't know what emotions she was feeling at that moment. The person who had just told her they couldn't leave due to the rain was now on his way to Regal Retreat.
"Victoria, it's not as complicated between me and her as you think."
"Drive safely."
She sat on the edge of the bed, then hung up the phone. Was she overthinking things? Not really. Right now, she just felt a bit...lost.
She couldn't understand him. He gave her the impression that he wasn't particularly close to Isabella, yet when something happened to her, he rushed off like lightning, as if he had also taken her heart with him.
Unfortunately, he would never know that he had her heart in his hands.
Alone in her bed, she suddenly felt a stinging sensation in the corners of her eyes. Brushing it away gently, she reminded herself to stay calm and composed.
"He never belonged to you, foolish woman."
In another room, Arabella walked in and said to her husband, "Your son has run off again, most likely to see Isabella."
"Our son hasn't admitted to having that kind of relationship with her," Maximus calmly replied, leaning against the headboard while looking at his phone.
"How could he admit it? Alex has gone astray. Not only does he lie shamelessly, but... I heard that when they were out together, they even went to the gynecology department of a hospital. Now some people are saying that Isabella is carrying Alex's child."
Maximus, usually composed, raised his eyes at this, but soon said, "You have to trust our son, don't listen to what others say."
"Do you think I want to believe them? But if he really gets Isabella pregnant, then Vicky, she..."
Arabella sat on the edge of the bed, her voice filled with fear.
Her parents had passed on, and now her marriage was over. The Harrington family was failing the dying wishes of her parents.
"Before jumping to conclusions, let's wait for him to come back and ask him about the situation," Maximus suggested, feeling that his son was not the type to be irresponsible.
"What if Isabella really is pregnant?"
