Chapter 1024 Painful

Elliot ate his food slowly, trying to keep his voice calm as he spoke.

But Daisy scoffed, "It's laughable. You think you know everything? You don't know anything."

"I don't know? I don't know that you're delusional enough to want to marry Alexander? Or that you want to get away from me? Daisy, don't you get why you can't escape me? Why did your parents insist you marry me despite knowing what kind of person I am?"

"What are you talking about?"

Daisy was stunned.

Elliot smiled and shook his head as he looked at his food.

Daisy's body began to tremble slightly.

"Do you think your parents didn't know about my preferences?"

Elliot asked again.

Daisy's face turned pale. She felt like she was suddenly in a space that didn't belong to her.

"They were just eager to marry you off, but your reputation in town was already bad. Only my parents were willing to take you in."

"That's impossible!"

Daisy vehemently denied it.

She couldn't believe her parents would do that.

They had always treated her like a treasure, never letting her suffer even a little.

Daisy thought, then slowly raised her eyes to look at Elliot.

Was everything he said true?

She couldn't believe it.

They had always loved her so much. How could they hand her over to a pervert?

In her eyes, Elliot was utterly disgusting.

She always thought her parents were ashamed of him, too. She couldn't accept this.

Elliot saw her pitiful state, but couldn't bring himself to pity her.

After all, he thought he was just as pitiful, and so was the person he loved.

He had planned to go abroad, but his father was suddenly diagnosed with heart disease, so he didn't dare to leave.

But one day, he would make his own decision, though he feared his beloved wouldn't wait for him.

Elliot continued eating, then spoke to her again, "If you stop causing trouble, I'll handle the Cook family affairs. You give birth to a kid, and you can be Mrs. Cook for life. I won't care who you see outside, as long as you don't get caught."

Daisy looked at him, feeling humiliated, and shouted, "Shut up!"

"If you don't want that, after you give birth, you can leave, and I'll divorce you."

Daisy was stunned, suddenly not as angry.

He was willing to divorce her?

"I'm staying here now only because my father is seriously ill. We both know he has at most a year or so left."

Elliot's heart ached. He had been very pampered as a child.

Daisy calmed down a bit after hearing his words.

His father might not have long to live; the doctors had said so.

"Are you willing to divorce me?"

"Yes."

"You need to put it in writing."

Daisy thought for a moment, afraid he would go back on his word.

"My first proposal is more suitable for you."

"Impossible."

Daisy immediately retorted.

Elliot laughed.

The first time they reached an agreement, it was about divorce.

But this was good.

This way, they could both be at peace.

"I'll put it in writing. Just stay calm until you give birth. You need to understand that constantly bothering Alexander and Victoria won't do you any good."

"Why did they let our Bryant family fall into crisis?"

Daisy couldn't wrap her head around it.

They had agreed to help.

"Maybe because you were too hasty. I heard you couldn't wait to tell Victoria in the hospital that her parents were killed by the Harrington family. Daisy, how dumb do you have to be to say something like that in public?"

Daisy's eyes filled with hatred as she glared at him.

She felt like a fool in Elliot's eyes, no, in the entire Cook family's eyes.

They just saw her as a baby-making machine.

The whole family treated her like a machine.

They just wanted a womb to give them a Cook family child, and she was the one chosen.

Elliot finished his meal, then noticed she hadn't touched her food and reminded her, "Eat something. Don't starve the baby."

"You know I've always wanted to get rid of it."

Daisy said.

"Give birth to it. Saving a life is a great deed. Maybe having this kid will bring you good luck."

Elliot stood up and looked at her belly.

Daisy found it laughable.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes, "What good luck could come from having a kid with someone like you?"

"As long as you stop causing trouble and live a stable life, that's good luck."

Elliot walked over, held her shoulders, and spoke seriously.

Elliot thought Daisy had gone astray. She had been a bright young girl at first.

Why would a good girl be swayed by a man?

It was just too much ambition and overestimating herself.

There were many people like that, regardless of gender.

But those who did whatever they wanted were fewer.

Elliot knew it was hard to persuade her, so he patted her shoulder and left.

After he left, Daisy held back for a while but soon called Jerome.

Jerome was socializing and didn't answer immediately. But she kept calling, so he had to pick up.

"Dad, what Elliot said isn't true, right?"

"What isn't true?"

"You didn't know from the start that he likes men."

Daisy said directly.

The cooks in the kitchen were so shocked that they backed away.

The whole family knew about it, but no one dared to speak out loud.

It wasn't that Elliot minded; it was just that everyone habitually thought that heterosexual attraction was normal and same-sex attraction was private and shouldn't be discussed.

"What are you talking about? If I knew that, would I push you to marry him?"

Jerome asked her.

Hearing Jerome's words, Daisy suddenly started crying, "Dad, I'm in so much pain. I don't want to live with him for another day."

"Silly girl, you're pregnant now. Don't think about anything else, okay? Just have the baby, and we'll talk about the rest later."

"Dad, I don't want to."

"And stop going to see Alexander or Victoria. I'm begging you."

Daisy was forced to swallow her words.

She didn't understand why Jerome was always so afraid of those two.

She could understand his fear of Alexander, but Victoria was now just a blind woman with amnesia.

Honestly, she suddenly had an idea.

Since Victoria didn't remember anything, she could give Victoria a new narrative.

She needed to find a chance to talk to Victoria alone and tell her about her tragic past.
