Chapter 474 Only by doing it yourself will you mistakenly think others are the same as you
"Why do you think that way?" Olivia asked.
"Olivia, it's not that I'm afraid of him. It's more like..." Victoria choked up, unable to finish her sentence.
"Are you just afraidthat you're not as important to him as Isabella is?" Olivia asked.
"No, I'm afraid because I already know Isabella is more important to him, yet I still love him deeply," Victoria replied.
Olivia was stunned at her words.
Victoria silently looked at her ring.
He told her not to take it off.
What if she wore it?
Everyone knew she was his wife, but now what?
What'd changed between them?
Tonight, he promised to reunite tomorrow after giving her the illusion of a lifetime of happiness the other day.
Together again?
She didn't care if he came back with Isabella.
Olivia looked at her. "But he can't possibly like Isabella."
"Why not?" Victoria questioned curiously.
"Because Isabella is a total bitch. Do you know what kind of men she's been with? Her last boyfriend was a married man, Zachary Ward," Olivia explained.
Zachary was the CEO of a publicly traded company that exported fried chips worldwide, and his wife was Isabella's college professor.
In Alexander's private room, everyone was playing cards, but Alexander sat quietly.
Isabella asked him, "Alexander, how should I play?"
Alexander didn't respond, so she turned to look at him.
Everyone else looked at him, too.
However, he was buried in the leather sofa, out of the light.
He sat there, seeming isolated, gloomy, and dangerous, and no one dared to provoke him.
"Why don't you just go back?" Benjamin threw a card on the table, then gathered his cards and spoke to Alexander.
Isabella looked at Benjamin as Alexander remained still. "He's been drinking. How can he go back?"
"He will return if he wishes," Benjamin replied.
"Wouldn't it be preferable to reunite tomorrow? Their marriage ends if Victoria doesn't trust him," Isabella said unhappily.
Although everyone suddenly fell silent, even holding their breath, they all focused on Alexander.
"Besides, so many of us. We can explain this to Victoria again if needed. Would that work?" Isabella turned to look at him again.
Alexander smiled coldly.
Victoria felt down when she got home until she unintentionally saw a figure.
Adrian was leaning against the side of the building entrance, hands in his pockets.
From stance to disposition, he looked like Alexander. Maybe because of his age, he seemed less mature.
"You're back." Adrian straightened up immediately when he saw her, pulling his hands out of his pockets.
Victoria walked over, smiling. "Did you sneak out again?"
"I finished my work," Adrian replied.
"Does Ivan know you're here?" Victoria asked again.
"I guess she knows by now," Adrian replied.
"Adrian, I don't want to invite you in today..." Victoria said.
"Damn, come with me." Before Victoria could finish, Adrian grabbed her hand and pulled her inside, closing the door behind them.
Victoria was confused, yet they ended up in the dark.
They hid in the darkest corner of the first floor because the light was broken.
"Are there reporters?" Victoria asked.
"Yes," Adrian replied.
Victoria sighed after hearing his confirmation.
"Is your fever gone?" Adrian asked again.
"Has it been a while," Victoria asked him back.
"Right, glad you're better," Adrian replied.
"But Adrian, you can't keep coming to see me like this," Victoria said.
"Why?" He was stunned.
"I'm your sister-in-law," she explained.
Her simple words took Adrian aback.
"Anyway, I'm your sister-in-law, so please don't come to see me so late anymore, okay?" Victoria begged.
"But we're classmates, friends. Just because you're Alexander's wife, can't we be friends anymore?" Adrian retorted.
"Yes," she agreed.
Adrian couldn't see her clearly, but her face felt hot.
She didn't want him.
Although he humbly stayed by her side without asking for anything, she still didn't want him.
Adrian muttered, "I understand."
"I'll call Ivan to come get you," Victoria said.
Adrian nodded. "Got it."
Victoria went upstairs after making the call.
When Ivan found Adrian, she was very angry, "Do you have to disappoint me like this?"
"I'm sorry," Adrian apologized.
Ivan's heart tightened.
Was 'sorry' what she wanted to hear?
Seeing him so sad, was he rejected by Victoria?
After Victoria got home, she watched from the window.
Later, Ivan took Adrian away.
But in the middle of the night, the internet was abuzz with news about a new award-winning actor meeting his sister-in-law at night.
Later that night, a heavy rainstorm hit but stopped by dawn.
The man gently opened his eyes in the sports car downstairs in the next morning.
A raindrop hit the window, making a particularly noticeable sound.
He turned to look at the building opposite.
Victoria, in a simple gray business suit, came out, carrying a small bag.
Victoria couldn't find the car that would take her up. When she noticed the expensive car under the large tree, her heart skipped a beat, and she checked the license plate.
It was Alexander's.
The car slowly drove toward her and stopped beside her.
Alexander didn't open the car door while she stood there without moving.
Victoria still didn't know about last night's gossip abouther.
Alexander grumbled irritably when she didn't get in the car. Then he leaned over to the passenger side and opened the door for her.
When Victoria finally did see him, it was a little fuzzy, but she confirmed it was him.
He seemed unhappy, but she didn't know why. Shouldn't she be the unhappy one?
Victoria got in, closed the door, and the car quickly left the neighborhood.
Everyone stayed quiet until they passed a brunch spot and stopped. Alexander said, "Let's have breakfast first."
Victoria didn't argue. She was hungry, too.
They ordered something simple at the brunch spot, but they had little appetite.
After finishing his porridge, Alexander looked at her and asked, "Don't you have anything to say to me?"
Victoria looked up. "What?"
"Isabella came to Coralwood City last night, so you called Adrian to see you," Alexander said.
Victoria was momentarily speechless but then remembered last night's events.
She had anticipated they might end up on the internet, but she quickly forgot because she was thinking about Alexander.
"Did you ask Isabella to come to Coralwood City?" Victoria asked.
"What?" Alexander was irritated.
"Otherwise, why would you say I called Adrian?" Victoria asked back.
"Only someone who has done the same thing would think others are like them," Victoria finished her words, then got up to leave.
Alexander frowned and laughed in frustration as her stubborn figure left.
So, was it his fault now?
