Chapter 728 Kick Him Out
"I'll drive you home," Alexander said, heading for the door.
Victoria, wrapped in his oversized coat, turned to follow him, quickly catching up. "Alexander."
"Isn't it Mr. Harrington?" A few people suddenly rushed out, calling him urgently.
Alexander stopped, holding Strawberry, and looked towards the voices.
Victoria had to stop too. Seeing a few familiar executives, she felt her heart skip a beat She quietly turned, hoping to slip away unnoticed.
But as soon as she turned, her wrist was grabbed.
She looked at the hand holding her wrist and then up at his face, which had a polite smile.
Alexander smiled at the others while leaning slightly towards her, reminding her, "You're my personal secretary now, no running away."
Victoria remembered her current role and had to calm herself down to face the situation gracefully.
Besides, Strawberry was still in his arms.
"And who is this Miss?"
Alexander asked calmly with a smile, "She just cut her hair short, and you don't recognize her?"
"This is Mrs. Harrington? I almost didn't recognize her."
"Indeed, Mrs. Harrington hasn't been seen for over a year, and now she looks like a high school student."
"I heard you went abroad to give birth? They say women age after having children, but you haven't aged a bit."
The executives were all flattering her.
Victoria, listening, wasn't sure if they were complimenting her or trying to harm her.
Alexander wasn't too pleased either. When they said she looked like a high school student, he couldn't help but glance at her. With her short hair, she did look more delicate, indeed like...
However, she was already a mother.
"Is this your daughter? Mr. Harrington, with such good news, you should celebrate properly."
"Exactly, you should really celebrate."
The two executives continued.
Alexander smiled faintly and said, "The family is already arranging a Welcome Baby Party for my daughter. If you have time, please join us."
They chatted for a while longer, and Victoria looked at him in surprise.
Welcome Baby Party?
If the Harrington family really held a Welcome Baby Party, everyone in Ankenra City who followed the news would know about Strawberry. It would be even harder for her to be with Strawberry then.
Victoria immediately felt uncomfortable.
After getting in the car, she quickly asked Alexander, "You were just saying that, right?"
"What?" Alexander looked at the sleeping Strawberry in his arms, puzzled.
"The Welcome Baby Party."
"You left in a hurry, so the elders probably didn't have time to tell you. They've been preparing for the Welcome Baby Party since Strawberry came back. It should be held next week."
Victoria suddenly fell silent for a while, not knowing what to say.
So the Harrington family had been preparing for Strawberry's Welcome Baby Party?
Alexander added, "You should attend as well."
Victoria kept looking at him, feeling she might have been wrong again.
When the car arrived at the Rockland Street community, Alexander got out holding Strawberry. Victoria went around to take Strawberry from him. "Thank you for bringing us back."
"I'll carry her upstairs," Alexander said, not handing Strawberry over.
Victoria slowly pulled her hand back, looking up at him. "Alexander."
"She sleeps with you, and I can't even take her there?" he questioned, striding inside with Strawberry.
Victoria sighed in frustration. She hadn't been here in ages and didn't know the current state of things. Plus, they were divorced. Was it really okay for him to come and go so freely?
Apparently, Alexander thought it was fine.
Victoria had no choice but to follow.
At the door, he commanded, "Open the door."
Victoria shot him a dissatisfied look. "Can't you just leave her here?"
"How long has it been since you came here?"
"What do you mean?"
"What if there's something wrong inside? What if someone broke in? I don't want to leave Strawberry in an unsafe place."
Alarmed by his words, Victoria quickly opened the door.
It was still her facial recognition.
Even after more than a year, the smart lock still had battery power and worked perfectly.
Once the door opened, he carried Strawberry straight to the bedroom, while she slowed her pace.
She had to slow down. Inside was clean and spotless, and it was quite warm.
So the floor heating was on. She looked around and found everything in the house seemed to be functioning normally, including the home elevator and...
She even saw a super expensive air purifier in the living room?
What was going on?
Victoria watched as he and their daughter entered the master bedroom and quickly followed.
"Alexander."
"What's up?"
"Don't you find this place strange?"
She spoke softly because she was really scared.
Alexander turned to look at her. "Indeed, it's strange."
He tucked Strawberry in and stood up. "You sleep here. I set up a single electric blanket for you."
"Strawberry is too young for an electric blanket, so don't sleep in the wrong place."
After saying this, Alexander glanced at Strawberry on the bed. He didn't want to leave at all.
Although the bed was small, sleeping with his daughter would be very happy.
But he still left the room.
Victoria gently closed the door and couldn't help but follow him. "Did you come here earlier?"
"Yes."
"Then why did you say..."
"If I didn't say that, would you have let me in?"
"Letting Strawberry stay in this place is already a compromise. If she had to live in a bad environment, I might have come to take her away in the middle of the night."
"So, I replaced everything in the house. Everything she uses is stored separately. Understand?"
"I understand."
Victoria agreed, suppressing her anger. Now she just wanted him to finish and leave.
"And if Strawberry feels unwell, you must call me immediately."
"Alexander."
"What?"
"I'm touched by how much you care about Strawberry, but it's late. You should leave."
Victoria said, turning to the door and opening it for him. "Please."
Alexander looked at the open door, then at her.
Victoria quietly watched him, waiting. Just as she was about to urge him, he took long strides towards the door. As he approached, she suddenly felt nervous and just wanted him to leave quickly.
