Chapter 577 Will a Head Injury Lead to a Vegetative State

"How is she? Will the injury to the back of her head make her a vegetable?" Isabella asked.

Sophie said, "She's still in a coma. We've identified her; it's definitely her."

"Do you know where she was brought from?"

"It was Mr. Harrington."

"Who?"

"Mr. Harrington." Sophie repeated.

"Mr. Harrington? Which Mr. Harrington?" Isabella felt a bit dizzy.

Sophie explained, "The Mr. Harrington you like. He's still in the hospital."

"No way. He's on a business trip." Isabella didn't buy it.

Sophie said, "A business trip? But he's definitely at the hospital."

After hanging up, Isabella could hardly think straight.

Alexander was supposed to be on a business trip. She heard it was a big deal and would take a few days for him to handle, which was why she chose tonight.

She started to feel uneasy, sensing that something bad was about to happen.

She thought about Naomi's words that Dorian was going to jail.

Isabella suddenly blacked out and anxiously started the car again.

However the car's chassis was too low, and the water flow was too strong, making her unable to start the car.

Isabella could only try calling Alexander again, but no one answered.

Alexander did go on a business trip last night, but after a quick visit, he had Shoure stay there to keep an eye on things. He returned to the office building by the evening to handle matters remotely, planning to pick up Victoria afterward.

He intended to surprise her.

Victoria thought he would be away for a long time and pretended to be very happy.

He believed that deep down, Victoria didn't feel that way.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been in his arms after falling asleep.

But now, she was lying in the ICU, and he could only stand there, unable to do anything.

Benjamin and the others stayed with him until Victoria woke up. When the murse came out to inform them, the rain outside had lessened, and everyone left.

Alexander remained there, slowly squatting down.

He couldn't imagine what she had gone through. How could Dorian dare to hurt her like that?

He thought that if others knew she was his wife, they wouldn't dare hurt her.

——

Harrington Family Old Mansion.

Brett, Eloise, Arabella, and Maximus were so worried they couldn't sleep.

Before dawn, all four of them got up. Seeing each other dressed neatly, they knew they were all determined to visit the hospital.

So, regardless of whether Alexander agreed, they set off.

When they arrived at the hospital, they saw a familiar figure at the entrance. Arabella, supporting Eloise, looked at the figure, and Eloise quickly shouted angrily, "What are you doing here?"

Upon hearing the voice, Isabella turned around immediately and said fearfully, "Grandma."

"Shut up. You don't deserve to call me Grandma," Eloise said, striding over with Arabella's support, and couldn't help but continue questioning as she looked at Isabella's face, "Haven't you harmed my grandson and granddaughter-in-law enough? What else do you want?"

"It wasn't me. Mrs. Arabella Harrington, please believe me, it really has nothing to do with me."

Eloise sneered, "If it has nothing to do with you, why are you standing here?"

Isabella explained, "I, I heard Victoria was injured and wanted to see her. I was very concerned about her."

"Drop the act. We know what kind of person you are. You might fool others, but not us. Get lost," Eloise said angrily.

Eloise found Isabella's words disgusting and infuriating.

"Grandma," Isabella said tearfully.

"Get lost, and don't let me see you again." Eloise was so angry she wished Isabella would disappear as soon as possible.

"This better have nothing to do with you. If it does, you won't get away with it," Arabella said coldly, looking at Isabella's pitiful expression.

Isabella's heart skipped a beat. "Mrs. Arabella Harrington, what do you mean? Are you threatening me? I swear I didn't touch her."

Arabella said mercilessly, "You are such a shamless woman."

"We should go see Victoria first. As for this woman, if she really did it, she won't get away," Brett said, walking past and continuing inside.

Maximus went to help support Eloise, and no one paid any more attention to Isabella.

Isabella watched them walk inside, feeling even more disoriented.

She couldn't believe the Harrington family elders valued Victoria so much that they all came to see her.

They were followed by two attendants who also seemed very worried about Victoria, and they all despised Isabella.

Isabella clenched her fists and silently watched them disappear.

She wouldn't leave, but she had to stay calm.

Those two people had already left Ankenra City; she just needed to keep her mouth shut.

But as they reached the ICU floor, they found someone quietly squatting in a corner. Eloise stopped first, "Adrian?"

"Grandma." Adrian had been hiding there all night. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose Victoria.

He had already lost his father.

Victoria was the person he cared about most and understood him best in recent years.

Seeing Adrian in sadness, Eloise felt a pang in her heart and immediately called him over. "Come here."

Adrian slowly stood up and walked to Eloise's side, unable to help but hug her. "Grandma, Victoria will be okay, right?"

"Of course, she will be fine. Don't be afraid." Eloise patted his shoulder, comforting him.

They all walked inside and saw a man standing at the end of the hallway.

Alexander was surprised to see them but didn't say much, only, "She should be out of danger now. You should go back and come again when she's out."

Arabella, seeing Alexander looking so haggard after one night, asked worriedly, "What about you?"

"I'm fine." Alexander couldn't help but glance at the closed door again.

"I want to stay," Adrian said.

Alexander looked at him, knowing that it was thanks to Adrian's alertness that Victoria was saved last night, but he still reminded him, "What good will it do for you to stay?"

"And what good will it do for you to stay?" Adrian retorted defiantly.

"I'm her husband. What do you think?" Alexander countered.

"You are her husband, yet you never protected her. Since you returned here last year, she has been getting hurt constantly. She loves you so much, but what have you given her? Nothing but pain," Adrian retorted.

Hearing Alexander call himself her husband made Adrian even more upset.

In Adrian's mind, Alexander had always been steady and mature, someone who should make the right decisions in marriage. But Alexander's handling of his marriage had deeply disappointed Adrian.

"Alright. You two brothers stop arguing. Adrian, come back with us. We can talk about everything once Victoria is better." Arabella quickly intervened, fearing they might start fighting.

"I'm not leaving. I want to stay with her." Adrian stubbornly stood by the wall, determined to stay.

——

Forty-eight hours later, Victoria was finally wheeled out of the ICU.

She had woken up earlier but had been lying there until she felt dizzy and her limbs had weakened.

As the ICU door opened, she sat in the wheelchair and first saw the man she thought of immediately when she was in trouble.

Alexander looked a bit haggard, and she kept looking at him with concern.
