Chapter 532 When She Heard His Name, She Didn't Even Dare to Lift Her Head
"Felicity, come on. Tell me," Dennis said.
Felicity stared silently at the rain outside. It was getting heavier.
'Where do I even start?' she thought.
Back then, Felicity had just witnessed a woman die. She had no connection to her.
Felicity's right index finger pinched the inside of her left one as she continued to gaze outside.
She went back to her apartment, showered, changed clothes, and got ready to leave.
But her phone buzzed with a notification: the morning flight was canceled due to a heavy rainstorm expected over the next few days.
Felicity sat on the edge of the bed, dazed. 'Can't I leave? No, we can still take the train.'
She quickly booked train tickets, finding the earliest one for tomorrow at noon.
As long as they could leave, it was fine.
Felicity lay back on the bed, and that scene suddenly flashed in her mind.
Was it some kind of omen? First, she saw someone jump off a building, then she saw someone get hit by a car.
The girl looked very young, but her face was unrecognizable from the impact.
Felicity was so scared she collapsed to the ground, trembling as she called the police. She didn't leave even after they arrived. A kind female officer helped her up. Some people were watching, even though it was so late. They pointed at the girl whose face was unrecognizable, just because she was wearing a nightgown.
Felicity took off her clothes to cover the girl.
It was too cold that day. She hoped the girl would feel a bit of warmth on her way to heaven.
Then Felicity left after being questioned by the police.
She didn't take anything with her, leaving everything there.
Early the next morning, Janaye called them to sign the contract. Dennis knocked on Felicity's door, but no one answered, so he opened it to take a look.
When Felicity woke up again, she was in a VIP hospital room with a needle in her hand.
She opened her eyes and saw the medicine hanging above her. Instinctively, she looked for the person who brought her here, but saw that man by the window.
'It must be an illusion. Otherwise, how could Alexander be here? It must be a dream,' she thought.
Alexander's perfect back looked just the same as before, making her heart flutter with just one glance.
'Why am I still dreaming about Alexander?' she wondered.
Felicity lay there staring at Alexander's back, dazed, for a long time.
After that incident, she didn't allow herself to dream about Alexander, but it was something she couldn't control.
Every time she dreamed about him...
Felicity couldn't understand. When Alexander was with her, he was the perfect lover.
Why then, had he made love to Isabella on their bed?
Did Alexander know Felicity would go to the Regal Retreat that night?
Felicity was supposed to go back to Metro House, because Eloise wanted them to board the ship together the next day.
But she wanted to go back to get something, and then...
Felicity thought she must be crazy.
For a while, she even hated sleep. She wouldn't let herself sleep.
But Dennis said that a female star's basic beauty was maintained not only by diet and exercise but also by sleep. Sleep was the most crucial part.
So she took medication for half a month to treat her insomnia, and it worked somewhat.
However, she still dreamed about him.
Felicity's gaze on that back became increasingly fragile, almost to the point of breaking at a touch.
The next second, Alexander suddenly turned around.
In that instant, something seemed to shatter in her eyes.
'Isn't it a dream?' she thought.
Alexander stood there coldly, looking down at Felicity as if his gaze could pierce her heart.
Felicity didn't expect their reunion to be like this.
They didn't bother with the usual pleasantries like, "How are you?"
Nor did they act like strangers passing by.
In the end, they met again, but everything had changed.
But...
It seemed Alexander was convinced Felicity was the same person he once knew, but he didn't call her out. Instead, he tortured her bit by bit, breaking her down.
"If you like getting rained on, you should be able to handle it," Alexander said coldly.
Felicity just looked at him quietly, wondering if he thought she wasn't even worthy of getting rained on in her current state.
She was still warm, with cold sweat occasionally breaking out on her forehead. Her throat felt like it had a blade in it, and she couldn't speak. She just calmed herself down and lowered her eyes.
When the door opened, Alexander stopped staring at Felicity and looked coldly out the window.
The nurse, Jennifer Lewis, walked in and said softly, "I'm here to add another dose."
Felicity barely made a faint sound. "What medicine?"
Jennifer explained carefully, "The test results show a bit of pneumonia, caused by the fever. Don't worry. It will be fine once the fever goes down."
Alexander glanced coldly at Jennifer but quickly suppressed his displeasure and continued looking out the window.
Felicity just watched Jennifer add the medicine, then softly said, "Thank you."
"Mrs. Harrington, you're welcome. It's our duty." Jennifer smiled.
Alexander glanced at Jennifer out of the corner of his eye but said nothing.
"I'll be going now. If you need anything, just call me. I'm only responsible for you today. By the way, drink more water," Jennifer said and then left.
Felicity smiled to show her gratitude, not planning to speak in her hoarse voice anymore.
Alexander immediately turned and went to the small kitchen after Jennifer left.
Felicity thought Alexander had left and was about to find her phone to call Dennis.
She wanted to ask Dennis why Alexander was here.
'Where is Dennis?' she thought.
But she couldn't find her phone and heard footsteps approaching. Seeing Alexander coming over with a glass of water, she suddenly felt a bit flustered.
Alexander didn't say anything, just placed the glass of water on the table beside her.
It was a transparent crystal glass, probably not from the hospital.
Felicity was puzzled but didn't ask much, reaching for the glass of water herself.
'He poured the water, so why not hand it to me?' she thought.
She was so weak now that even a slight movement made her feel terrible.
Felicity finally got the glass and took a sip, but her throat hurt so much she almost couldn't swallow.
She didn't drink any more, but looked at Alexander who was sitting on the sofa and looking at his phone. "Excuse me?"
Alexander didn't move his eyes from his phone and said indifferently, "What is it?"
"Where's Dennis?"
"I don't know."
Felicity looked at him for a long time, then lowered her eyes and softly asked, "Do you know where my phone is?"
"Don't know." His voice carried some irritation.
Felicity bit her lip slightly, seeing that Alexander didn't want to talk to her, so she stopped talking to him.
Actually, for a long time, Felicity didn't dare to look at Alexander.
Alexander was often in the news back then, and she didn't dare to lift her head when she heard his name.
She didn't know what her emotions would be when she saw him.
Just that night when she saw him pressing Isabella on the bed, her heart had already died.
That kind of soul-crushing pain made her feel like a fool for a long time.
There was another knock on the door. Alexander looked at the door irritably and said, "Come in."
Felicity heard the impatience in his tone and didn't know why he insisted on staying here. But when she saw who came in, her heart skipped a beat.
