Chapter 705 For Strawberry
Three days later, once her back pain had chilled out, Victoria and Eve hopped on a plane to Ankenra City.
The city was soaking up the sun, giving off some serious chill vibes.
Up on the top floor of the Harrington Group office, Alexander was juggling paperwork while keeping an eye on Strawberry.
He brought his kid to work, and now the whole company was buzzing about him having a daughter.
Everyone was dying to know who Strawberry's mom was.
Janaye came in with his coffee, standing by the sofa and checking out Strawberry in the crib. She couldn't help but smile, "She's adorable."
Alexander heard her, glanced at Strawberry, then shot a look at Janaye, "Why are you still here?"
Janaye felt a bit awkward, not wanting to leave, and asked, "Mr. Harrington, when's Mrs. Harrington coming back?"
"You'll have to ask her."
"But Strawberry's here. Shouldn't you know when Mrs. Harrington's coming back?"
Janaye pushed on, even though she always seemed a bit scared of Alexander.
Alexander was getting annoyed. He saw his phone light up, closed the document, and grabbed his phone.
"I got it."
Whatever was said on the other end, he just gave a short reply.
Janaye thought Alexander had been colder than usual lately. He was super attentive to Strawberry, but his vibe was way more intense.
Janaye was shocked that Victoria had secretly had Strawberry, and even more shocked that Alexander brought Strawberry to work and got the fanciest crib.
Plus, his phone was always on silent now. She figured it was to keep from waking Strawberry.
Janaye eventually got sent out. She muttered to herself, "Maybe Mrs. Harrington will be back soon. I dreamed about it last night."
Alexander headed back to the Harrington Mansion solo that evening.
Victoria had been chatting with Brett and Eloise in the living room for a bit.
When she heard Alexander had taken Strawberry to work, she was eagerly waiting for him to bring her back.
Victoria slowly stood up. It wasn't until Alexander plopped down on the sofa that she asked, "Where's Strawberry?"
"Long time no see."
Alexander replied coolly, glancing at her before grabbing a strawberry from the fruit bowl and popping it into his mouth. "Why do the strawberries you bought today taste so bad?"
Brett and Eloise looked at him, confused.
Arabella and Maximus were puzzled, too.
Victoria got that Alexander didn't want to talk to her, though she had no clue what she did to tick him off.
"Victoria's asking about Strawberry."
Eloise kindly asked again for Victoria.
"She's at Serenade Villa."
Alexander finally answered, then glanced at his phone.
"Did you call me back for something? If not, I'm out. She can't be without me."
"Alexander, don't make me punch you!"
Brett couldn't hold back anymore, seeing how cold Alexander was to Victoria.
The whole family had been waiting for him to bring Strawberry so Victoria could see her, but he came back alone.
"I really gotta go."
Alexander said, standing up.
"How about this, Victoria, you go with Alexander to Serenade Villa tonight to see Strawberry. Tomorrow, we'll bring Strawberry back here to stay. How's that sound?"
Maximus figured Victoria missed her daughter so much she wouldn't catch a wink if she stayed here tonight. Better to let her see Strawberry.
Victoria didn't really want to go with Alexander, but thinking of Strawberry, she nodded.
"Sorry, even if she's down, I'm not."
Alexander sneered at Victoria's willingness and got up to leave.
"Alexander."
Brett snapped, making Alexander stop in his tracks.
"She's Strawberry's mom."
Brett reminded him.
Alexander glanced at her and suddenly smirked, "I'm just worried Victoria might not be comfy in my bed."
Victoria felt he was just trying to get under her skin.
Arabella had enough. She grabbed a magazine and whacked him twice on the waist, "Take Victoria to see Strawberry."
With the elders pushing him, Alexander had no choice but to grumble, "Fine, let's go."
"I'll come back to see you later."
Victoria said her goodbyes and followed him out.
As soon as they reached the car, Alexander turned around, annoyed, "Can't you walk faster?"
Victoria kept her head down, trying to speed up.
Just as she was about to open the front passenger door, Alexander coldly said, "Sit in the back."
Victoria hesitated but got into the back seat.
There was a baby seat back there.
As soon as she sat down, all her bad vibes vanished. She even thought she could smell her daughter's scent.
Did Strawberry sit in this baby seat every day while he went to work?
"Since we're already divorced, you don't need to put on a show anymore."
Alexander suddenly said.
Victoria looked up, though she could only see the back of his head.
"Do you have to talk like that?"
Like he was covered in thorns, determined to hurt her.
He was the one who let her go; they should've parted on good terms.
Even if she had kept Strawberry a secret from him...
Alright, Alexander would probably hold a grudge over Strawberry for a long time.
Victoria turned to look out the window. Despite it being winter, the streets were brightly lit and bustling.
Christmas was coming up.
She suddenly thought.
At least this time, she wasn't alone.
But would she spend Christmas with Strawberry?
Last year at this time, Strawberry was just a tiny sprout in her belly.
And now, she was...
She didn't care about anything between them.
She just wanted to ask him how Strawberry was, but since they were almost at Serenade Villa, she held back.
If asking one more question meant getting hurt one more time, then it was better not to ask.
After all, the answer would soon be clear.
"Does Olivia know you're back? She's been worried about you."
"Not yet."
Victoria hadn't expected him to bring up Olivia, but she indeed hadn't told Olivia she was back.
"Have you seen her daughter? I mean, in videos or anything."
Alexander was driving seriously but suddenly started talking about Olivia.
Victoria was puzzled but thought for a moment and said, "No."
"Have you not seen her, or have you seen her but are afraid to say?"
Alexander asked again.
Victoria remembered that he was still the domineering Alexander.
How could she think he was approachable just because he chatted with her for a bit?
"Their daughter's name is..."
"Orange."
Victoria said it before he could.
Alexander glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
But he only saw a bit of her hair.
Her hair had become very short.
Soon, he focused on the road ahead.
The car slowly drove into Serenade Villa, which was brightly lit, presenting a different world.
