Chapter 701 Strawberry Might be Taken away

"Starting today, she's gonna grow up with the Harringtons."

Alexander stared her down, no flinching.

Victoria felt like her freedom just got snatched away for good.

But those steely eyes of his? She couldn't even argue.

"No one's taking her from me."

He laid it down, all boss-like.

Victoria just watched him, knowing he'd back up his words. She had to figure out another plan.

She tried to leave, but he grabbed her wrist. His voice, weak but desperate, "Don't go."

Victoria stayed silent, just bent over and looked at him.

She had no clue how many more hurtful things he'd say, or if his sweet talk on the phone was just a joke.

He always loved messing with her.

Victoria waited, bracing for more pain.

Maybe it'd be easier if he just broke her completely.

"Is that medicine for me?" Alexander croaked.

He was burning up, voice all raspy, but still acting tough.

"Yeah," Victoria replied, barely audible.

His grip on her wrist tightened, and he leaned back, panting. His breath was hot, eyes even hotter.

He just stared at her, "I got no strength left."

Victoria found it kinda funny and whispered, "Need me to help you take it?"

"Thanks."

He said it, looking right at her.

A tear slipped from Victoria's eye, but she smiled.

She really wanted to smack him.

Alexander was fighting her for the kid, hogging her bed, and now wanted her to feed him meds?

If she hit him, that'd be mercy, right?

"Planning to be alone forever?"

He asked again.

Victoria glared at him. Didn't he know he was talking too much?

"Hurry up," he pushed.

Victoria saw his awful complexion, still trying to boss her around, and got mad.

Alexander quickly shut his eyes and grabbed the water cup.

Victoria sat on the bed's edge, glaring at him. She felt a bit better.

Alexander opened his eyes, shocked, "You..."

"How pathetic am I to let you lie in my bed and threaten me?"

She tried to get up, but his hand was glued to her wrist.

"Let go."

Victoria demanded, fuming.

Alexander's grip tightened. With a little force, she fell towards him.

The medicine spilled on his chest. She tried to pull away.

Alexander grabbed her neck, eyes blazing. But when he saw her stubborn, tear-filled eyes, his lips moved, and then...

Victoria heard a loud noise.

Her lips were seized.

Time froze.

All she heard was a blaring alarm.

He bit down hard before she could react.

Blood filled her mouth in seconds. She snapped out of it and shoved him back.

He panted, leaning against the headboard, then sneered, "You and that woman are really alike."

Victoria's gentle eyes turned into slits. She couldn't believe it.

Victoria thought, 'Alexander, what the hell are you saying?'

"Sorry for messing up your bed. I'll leave after a nap."

He mumbled something and just flopped down.

He was messing up the bed, but could he let go of her wrist already?

"Victoria, don't move."

He mumbled again, then leaned in closer.

He wrapped himself around her legs, pinning her to the bed, holding her tight.

Victoria curled up in front of him, feeling like she was in some weird dream.

How could he threaten her and then cuddle her to sleep?

The phone rang again. This time, she managed to answer it. Both her wrists were trapped, but she got it to her ear.

Eve's frustrated voice came through, "Mrs. Harrington, we've been found."

Victoria listened, her heart sinking into a cold abyss.

But she was used to this feeling by now.

"Strawberry might be taken away. We're really sorry."

Eve whispered, sounding guilty.

"Eve, you and Frank should leave."

Victoria paused for a moment before deciding.

Yeah, she got it now.

Even though Alexander seemed on her side, he wasn't just sitting around.

He had already set things up. It was too easy for him to find out stuff.

"Mrs. Harrington, what about you alone..."

"I'll figure it out."

She wouldn't be alone.

Victoria quickly hung up, then struggled again. The annoying thing was, he was like a leather strap binding her.

She panted, calming down after a bit.

Then she just lay there silently.

Alexander would be ready to fight her after a good sleep. She needed to save her energy too.

She didn't get why he was taking her Strawberry while hugging her to sleep.

She wasn't conflicted; she was just confused by him.

Not only was he all over the place emotionally, but his ideas also left her lost.

By noon.

Alexander's car was already parked in her spot, and he was snoozing in her big bed.

Victoria's phone rang again. It was Adrian. She answered, her voice hoarse from not talking for a while, "Hello?"

"Victoria, I can't come back now. How are you?"

"I'm fine here. Don't come back."

"I'm worried about you."

"No need to worry."

"Victoria."

Alexander suddenly mumbled from behind.

Victoria's tired eyes finally showed some emotion, looking incredulously at the white outside.

"Is that Alexander?"

Adrian couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yeah, I'm hanging up."

Victoria didn't want to keep talking.

She didn't want to answer anyone's calls now.

She just wanted to know how Alexander would explain when he woke up and found himself hugging her.

Adrian couldn't wrap his head around it.

Had they made up?

"Ava, let me out."

Adrian was stuck in the room by Ava, anxiously knocking on the door.

But Ava wasn't letting him out.

Adrian wasn't even married but held a press conference saying he had been secretly married for a long time. What was he trying to do?

When Alexander woke up again, it was already afternoon, and fine snowflakes were falling outside.

Victoria nestled in his arms, not moving, silently waiting. She could tell he was awake by his different breathing, even if he didn't make a sound.

After waiting for two minutes without a peep from him, she softly said, "Alexander, can you let go now?"

Alexander immediately let go, rubbing his head as he sat up against the headboard, saying faintly, "How did I end up sleeping here?"

Victoria didn't say anything, just smiled and then turned to look at him.

"I remember being in the car."
