Chapter 779 Is Your Love This Cheap

"We have nothing to talk about," Victoria said as she tried to push Alexander's hand away.

"But you called me first," Alexander insisted.

Victoria looked up, silently.

Alexander was still holding her arm. Seeing that she was silent, he began to speak himself, "I went to change Strawberry's diaper and ran into Daisy on the way back to the room."

"You don't need to explain to me."

Victoria smiled slightly, then forcefully tried to remove his hand, but his hand seemed to be glued to her arm. Finally, she became a bit flustered and couldn't help but shout softly, "Alexander, let go of me."

"Can't you trust me just once?"

"I didn't say I don't trust you."

"Then do you?"

Alexander stared at her and questioned again.

Victoria lowered her head, avoiding his gaze.

"You didn't say you don't trust me, but in your heart, you don't. You haven't trusted me ever since that incident last year."

Alexander looked at her eyes, feeling stifled, and could only say in a very restrained manner.

"Since you know, why keep entangling?"

This time, Victoria easily pushed his hand away.

Alexander laughed, "In your heart, I've long been a scoundrel, haven't I?"

"Yes."

"You used to say you loved me. Your love is so cheap."

After saying that, Alexander left the bathroom.

Later, the whole family sat in the living room, but it was unusually quiet.

Alexander kept a stern face, and Victoria was also a bit uneasy.

Melissa drank a cup of coffee, unable to stand the three young people being so gloomy, and looked at Victoria, asking, "How about the person I introduced to you last time? Have you been in touch?"

As soon as she said this, all three of them looked up.

"Mom," Adrian was very angry.

But Melissa just looked at Victoria, waiting for her answer.

Victoria felt inexplicably guilty, feeling like she was sitting on a hot pan next to Alexander.

Alexander's eyes were fixed on the snacks on the table, extremely sharp.

"What introduction?" Eloise asked in confusion.

"Didn't she divorce Alexander? And she doesn't like Adrian, so I introduced her to a young man, Samuel. He is a doctor, and is a very nice person, right, Victoria?"

"Yes," Victoria responded sullenly.

Arabella glanced at Melissa. She had of course heard about Melissa introducing someone to Victoria, but she didn't expect her to mention it in front of the elders.

"What divorce? That's nonsense, completely nonsense."

Eloise became nervous and slapped her thigh as she spoke.

Then everyone suddenly looked at Eloise.

Except for Alexander, who just stood up.

His tall figure stood there like a block of ice.

"Alexander, stop hiding it from Victoria," Brett finally spoke up. Tonight, with the whole family present, he thought it was time to reveal the truth.

But Alexander just sneered, then took long strides out of the living room.

Victoria's heart was already in turmoil, her ears buzzing.

She felt like she didn't understand a single word, though simple. But...

"Grandpa," Victoria called Brett softly, trembling.

"Victoria, do you know why we always refer to Alexander as your husband, and not just Alexander?" Brett said.

"I thought..."

She thought the elders were just saying it casually, just calling her as they wanted to.

So, she was still Alexander's wife?

He still...

"But we signed a divorce agreement."

"Without court approval, that agreement doesn't count," Arabella told Victoria.

Victoria's face turned pale. She looked upstairs, her heart sinking continuously.

Melissa suddenly laughed at herself.

She had naively thought Alexander had divorced Victoria. Alexander was too cunning.

Adrian was even more shocked into silence.

Alexander hadn't divorced Victoria?

Until this moment, hearing the truth from the elders, Adrian was sure of it.

No matter what Alexander had said before, he...

Yes, he always held onto that fantasy, thinking Alexander just didn't want to give Victoria to him.

He thought it was just an excuse, that Alexander was the type who wouldn't give something to someone else even if he didn't want it himself.

But Victoria was still his sister-in-law.

Adrian looked at Victoria, but Victoria was already overwhelmed.

"I'll go upstairs."

She said softly, and Brett nodded, indicating she could go. She immediately left.

Victoria wanted to hear Alexander say it himself, that he hadn't divorced her.

Then the agreement he sent her from far away, the things he said to her, were they all just toying with her?

But when she reached the bedroom door, her hand hesitated on the doorknob.

If they weren't divorced, what was the point of asking?

How did it come to this?

Victoria just didn't understand.

He was always with Daisy, Daisy was even sitting on his lap that day.

If he wasn't divorced, what was he doing?

And she had been going on dates as a single woman, wasn't she also toying with people?

Victoria was both angry and confused and found it funny.

Just then, her phone suddenly rang. She looked at the number, smiled helplessly, and answered, "Mr. Hall."

"Happy New Year in advance, and I'm going back home."

"Happy New Year to you too, Mr. Hall. I'm very sorry, I..."

"I know, I wish you happiness."

After hanging up, Victoria felt a bit relieved and grateful that Samuel was emotionally stable and a broad-minded person.

She stood by the door, and the scene suddenly appeared in her mind.

When she was in Elysium Country, Alexander had sent her the divorce agreement.

That agreement, could it be lying in his desk drawer now?

She thought of someone, then immediately picked up her phone and dialed the number. No one answered, so she waited, hoping he would call her back when he had a moment.

After all, he was the only lawyer willing to help her.

She looked at the door again, feeling a bit calmer.

They needed to calm down to have a serious conversation.

She still pushed open the door, but after opening it, she didn't take many steps.

Alexander came out of the bathroom shirtless. Seeing her, he said nothing, just took a shirt from the closet and stood at the foot of the bed, his back to her, unbuttoning it.

Victoria stood there in a daze, looking at his back, and suddenly that scene came to mind.

It was she who had stabbed him in the back.

Alexander patiently unbuttoned the shirt that had been overly buttoned after dry cleaning, and asked in a deep voice, "If you have any questions, just ask."

Victoria slowly walked forward, staring straight at the scar.

It seemed like since their reunion, this was the first time she had seen the scar so clearly.

Alexander finished unbuttoning the last button, feeling the cool touch on his back, and suddenly stopped moving.
