Chapter 711 Leave Strawberry

"I ain't really in a spot to mess with Mr. Harrington's choices, am I?" Victoria asked, keeping her cool.

Right then, looking at Alexander, she still felt a stab of sadness in her chest. What was the point of him saying all this to her? They were divorced, and she couldn't just ask him for favors anymore. Wasn't he even dating another chick right in front of her now?

Alexander's eyes had a smile, but it felt like a dagger to her, so she quickly looked down. "I'll go check if Strawberry's awake, and besides, I should..."

"Don't be in such a rush to leave," Alexander said, pinching Victoria's shoulder with a grin.

Victoria winced from the pain and had to sit there facing him. "What else do you need, Mr. Harrington?"

"If I'm looking for a stepmom for Strawberry, as her real mom, you should help me out. I'm kinda curious about your take. What do you think of Ms. Bryant?"

Alexander's captivating eyes locked onto her, then he suddenly smiled at Daisy. But Daisy didn't relax; she tensed up even more. For some reason, the vibe felt tense and dangerous. But she loved Alexander too much. Daisy could only sit there properly, then looked at Victoria, awkwardly pulling at the corners of her mouth, smiling as she promised, "I swear I won't be a bad stepmom. I really like Strawberry."

Victoria glanced at Daisy for a few seconds, then turned her gaze to the hand gripping her wrist. She looked at Alexander and softly said, "Mr. Harrington, could you please let go of my wrist?"

Alexander's cold eyes glanced at her, then he looked down at where he was holding her and sneered, "Sorry, didn't notice."

He didn't notice he was gripping her wrist? How could he not notice?

Victoria choked back a sob and said softly, "I won't interfere with what kind of next partner my ex-husband wants to find. As for Strawberry..."

She turned to look at Alexander, calmly and firmly saying, "Strawberry doesn't need a stepmom."

"You probably can't make that call for her," Alexander said coldly, looking at Victoria. "Whether Strawberry needs a stepmom isn't something you can decide with just one word."

She didn't want to argue with him about this in front of others. So she tried to speak to him as calmly as possible. But Alexander showed no respect for her, saying, "You don't still think you can take Strawberry away, do you? I'm telling you, even if you die, I won't ask Strawberry to take another look at you."

Victoria was still sitting there, but she felt like her back was about to split open from the pain. But how could this burning, tearing pain compare to the pain of his harsh words? Wasn't he saying that he would separate her from her daughter?

She smiled, then slowly stood up, looking down at the heartless Alexander, and said softly, "Then we'll see."

She left in front of him.

"Victoria, stay away from Strawberry," Alexander suddenly called out to her as she walked towards the lounge.

Victoria paused, letting people laugh at her, but she still resolutely walked to the lounge door and gently opened it. That was the baby she carried for ten months; he told her to stay away from Strawberry, but did she really have to?

Daisy was a bit at a loss. She felt like Alexander and Victoria were arguing.

But they were divorced, so what were they even bickering about? Just fighting over the kid?

Daisy thought of those TV dramas where folks fought tooth and nail for custody, but it was usually over a son. Strawberry was just a little girl. The Harringtons wouldn't hand over their empire to a girl, and if Alexander remarried, he'd probably have more kids, maybe a whole bunch. Daisy figured if she were Alexander's wife, she'd keep popping out kids as long as he wanted.

Daisy didn't get it and thought to herself, "It's already past eleven. Are we still gonna have our private time?"

Thinking about the private time he mentioned, she blushed, pushing aside his spat with Victoria, only thinking about how she'd wow him later.

Strawberry woke up when Victoria picked her up, but being in Victoria's arms, she stayed calm. Victoria felt a wave of relief and softly said, "I'll take you away from here."

Strawberry quickly dozed off again on her shoulder, and Victoria carried her out.

Alexander was still sitting there, but his face was like thunder. "Victoria, I told you not to stay away from her."

Victoria stopped and said icily, "She's my child!"

"You seem to forget she's also my child," Alexander shot back in a deep voice.

Victoria's face flushed with anger. Unable to out-argue him, she turned and tried to leave with Strawberry.

"Mrs. Harrington."

"We're leaving," Victoria told Eve, who was waiting by the door.

But she had only taken a few steps with Strawberry before a tall figure blocked her path. Alexander took a few long strides to catch up, forcing her to back up, speaking deliberately, "If you dare take another step, don't blame me for being ruthless."

"Have you ever considered our past relationship?" Victoria asked him.

"I don't," Alexander replied coldly.

"Strawberry is still breastfeeding. No one can take her from my arms."

"Really?" Alexander immediately reached out to grab her.

Strawberry woke up, looking at them in confusion. When Alexander reached out, she instinctively leaned towards him, but Victoria held her back. Strawberry quickly started crying.

"Alexander, let her go," Victoria shouted angrily.

Hearing Strawberry cry, Alexander didn't dare grab her anymore but still glared at Victoria, "I won't let you leave until you put my daughter down."

"What do you plan to do? Kill me?" Victoria asked him.

"I'm not interested in that. Let go of my daughter, and you can go wherever you want."

"It's the same for me. As long as you don't want Strawberry, you can have as many women as you want, and it has nothing to do with me."

Alexander frowned at her. Yeah, they were at a standstill. But it wouldn't end like this. He glanced at the ring on her hand, "You can still have more kids. Strawberry won't be your favorite then."

"Have you lost your ability to have kids? I remember your skills in bed were quite good. Shouldn't be hard to get another woman pregnant, right?" Victoria shot back.

Alexander's eyes narrowed, not expecting her to be so blunt.

"I don't want to waste words with you. Leave Strawberry, and you go."

Victoria held Strawberry close and said seriously, "No."
