Chapter 781 Their Hearts Have Already Separated
The moment their lips intertwined, it was unclear whose heart started racing first, but Victoria distinctly felt the pounding of a heartbeat.
She couldn't tell if it was her heartbeat or his, all she knew was that it was erratic and forceful.
Then, her breathing quickly became erratic as well.
They were kissing, yet it felt like they were in a fight.
She couldn't think clearly or speak.
She was just trying hard to give herself a chance to breathe.
Soon, Alexander's cool lips landed on her neck.
Victoria let out a distressed moan, her hand gripping the fabric of his arm lost its strength, but before she could fall, he caught her around the waist.
He became more and more obsessed with kissing her neck, he liked hearing her aroused moans, as if it proved he could still please her.
It wasn't until he felt her tears that Alexander slowly let her go. He didn't look at her, held her for a moment, then suddenly released her and left, closing the door behind him.
As the door closed, a cold wind blew over Victoria, but she just stood there quietly.
She would be turning twenty-five right after the New Year, but she felt like she was getting dumber as she got older.
She couldn't understand his actions.
He said he did all this for Strawberry.
Then why did he kiss her?
Alexander, what kind of person was he?
Why, even after they had a child, did she understand him even less?
Every word he said seemed to be filled with traps.
She couldn't solve this mystery, her head was throbbing with pain.
That night, Alexander didn't return to Metro House. The next morning, Victoria called a cab to the Harrington family home early.
She was leaving.
Even though she found out they weren't divorced, she had no intention of spending the New Year at the Harrington family home.
Their hearts had already separated.
After she got in the car, the driver, a man in his forties, turned to her and joked, "Miss, you live in such a big mansion and still take a cab?"
Victoria was startled for a moment and explained, "This isn't my mansion."
"Not your mansion? Then..."
The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror and asked as they neared the airport, "You were dumped by some big shot, weren't you? You look so young and like a movie star. Are you a movie star?"
"That's my in-laws' house," Victoria listened and quickly answered.
The driver couldn't help but glance at her again.
The sun had already risen, and it was a vibrant morning, everything seemed just right.
When the car arrived at the airport and stopped, Victoria paid the driver.
But as soon as she got out of the car, she saw two people standing there.
They were Frank and Eve, they seemed to be waiting for her.
"Mrs. Harrington," Eve greeted her first.
Victoria looked at them in confusion. "What are you doing here? Don't tell me you're coming with me again."
"Mrs. Harrington, Mr. Harrington said if you were to leave..."
Eve, carrying a crossbody bag, found it hard to say what Alexander wanted her to say.
"Mr. Harrington hopes you'll sign an agreement," Frank finished Eve's sentence.
Victoria felt a pang in her chest and asked, "What agreement?"
Later, the three of them sat inside, and Victoria held an agreement relinquishing custody of Strawberry.
Victoria looked at the agreement and gave a helpless smile, but she said nothing.
She checked the time on her ticket, she was about to leave.
——
"Mrs. Arabella Harrington, Mr. Alexander Harrington, and Mrs. Victoria Harrington are not in their rooms."
The maid came downstairs to report to Arabella.
Arabella was sitting in the living room waiting for breakfast. Hearing this, she looked up. "Did they go to see Strawberry?"
"No," The maid immediately denied it.
Arabella suddenly felt uneasy. Could Victoria have left?
Then, what about Alexander?
"I saw Mrs. Victoria Harrington leave early this morning, and as for Mr. Alexander Harrington, it seems he didn't come back after going out last night."
Mason came in from outside and spoke to Arabella.
"He didn't come back all night?"
Hearing that, Arabella immediately grabbed her phone and dialed Alexander's number.
When he answered, his voice was hoarse.
"What's up?"
"Where are you?"
"Home."
"Home? Which home?"
"Serenade Villa, what's wrong?" Alexander asked tiredly.
"You didn't come back all night and you're at Serenade Villa? Do you know Victoria is leaving?"
"If she wants to leave, I can't stop her. I'm a bit tired, bye."
Alexander said and then hung up the phone.
Arabella immediately called him back after he hung up.
But he suddenly turned off his phone.
Arabella had no choice but to put down the phone. After thinking for a moment, she immediately dialed Victoria's number, but Victoria's phone was also turned off.
Maximus came downstairs and, seeing Arabella so anxious, immediately walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Alexander turned off his phone at Serenade Villa, and Victoria's phone was also off. She must have gone to the airport."
Arabella said, glancing at her watch. At this time, Victoria should be boarding.
"Can't get through to either of them?"
Maximus asked, looking at the phone tightly gripped in her hand.
If she could get through, Arabella wouldn't be this anxious.
"Exactly, neither of them is making it easy," Arabella muttered anxiously.
"If Victoria feels freer and more comfortable in Elysium Country, let her stay there for a few days. She left Strawberry with us, she should come back soon after the New Year," Maximus said.
Maximus said.
"That's all we can do," Arabella agreed but then added. "But what about Alexander? What's he doing alone at Serenade Villa?"
"He deliberately lost to Victoria in chess yesterday because he still cares about her. He's just feeling bad because he didn't win that plane ticket," Maximus speculated about Alexander's thoughts.
"I don't know what Victoria is thinking. What's so good about going back to Elysium Country alone?"
Arabella thought that with Victoria's parents gone, she should consider this place her home.
But Victoria insisted on going back to Elysium Country.
"Right, try to call Eve. Alexander wouldn't just let Victoria leave like that."
"How could I forget her?" Arabella said, immediately finding out Eve's number and dialing it.
Eve answered quickly, and Arabella, holding her breath, asked seriously, "Are you with Victoria?"
"Yes."
"At the airport?"
"Yes," Eve confirmed.
Arabella covered the receiver and looked at Maximus. "She's really at the airport."
"Then we don't need to worry," Maximus said.
Arabella glanced at him, then quickly put the phone back to her ear. "Tell Victoria that Strawberry has a fever and has been crying non-stop. I can't handle it."
Eve looked at Victoria, who was already in line. "Mrs. Arabella Harrington, Mrs. Victoria Harrington, she..."
"Tell her that Alexander took Strawberry to Serenade Villa. He suddenly lost his temper and won't let anyone else touch her, insisting on taking care of her himself. I don't know if he can take care of Strawberry properly," Arabella interrupted Eve.
"But Mrs. Victoria Harrington, she..."
"A child's fever can be a big deal. If anything goes wrong, I, as the grandmother, can't take responsibility, and neither can you as the bodyguard."
Arabella finished and then hung up the phone.
Eve looked inside again, but she could no longer see Victoria.
