Chapter 1022 Embrace from Behind
Arabella, watching him pour the coffee closely, noticed the watch on his wrist. "With your skills, I bet he didn't buy that watch himself."
"It was a gift from Diana," Curtis anticipated Arabella's question and answered openly.
"Diana can afford it, but you said she's your ex-girlfriend. Why accept such an expensive gift from her?" Arabella asked again.
Curtis poured coffee for Eloise first, then for Arabella, responding calmly, "I still have hope."
Diana was initially startled by Arabella's words, but was stunned by Curtis's response.
She looked at Curtis, who was already staring at her.
At that moment, she felt her heart racing, as if it was about to leap out of her chest.
What did he mean by hope? What kind of hope?
"But our family has found her a suitable match. Even if it might not work out, I hope she gives it a try. Curtis, you don't mind, do you?" Arabella asked.
"I do mind," Curtis replied with a smile, maintaining a polite but clear attitude throughout.
Arabella kept her eyes on him, understanding the situation clearly at her age.
She took a sip of coffee. "The coffee beans are indeed a bit lacking. Next time, Didi should bring some of the top-grade coffee for Curtis to try."
After finishing her coffee, Arabella leaned forward to place her cup down and then turned to Eloise, "Mom, didn't you say you were tired? Let's go back."
"When did I say I was tired? I haven't had enough time to look at Curtis," Eloise replied.
Diana's face turned bright red at Eloise's words, and Curtis blushed as well.
Arabella was urgent, wanting to test Curtis further.
"You've already served coffee, isn't that an acknowledgment?" Eloise retorted.
"Oh, what are you saying? You're getting senile. Let's go," Arabella said, feeling embarrassed and unable to lift her eyes, losing her previous sharpness.
"Slow down," Eloise said as Arabella pulled her along, almost running.
Curtis and Diana stood up to follow. Diana was a bit worried, "Mom, slow down, Grandma can't keep up."
"You're so talkative," Arabella finally stopped and held Eloise again.
"Oh, what's the rush? She doesn't like Yosef anyway. I think Curtis is great," Eloise said.
"What, Curtis?" Arabella felt defeated by Eloise.
Diana and Curtis followed behind at a steady pace, Diana's face still warm.
She glanced at Curtis, suddenly feeling he was the best in the world.
"Diana, go back to your apartment," Arabella called out as they reached the car.
"Got it, got it," Diana responded quickly.
After the car left, Diana looked down awkwardly.
Curtis, hands in his pockets, looked at her, "You have quite a picky taste."
"What picky taste?" Diana asked, puzzled.
"Not satisfied with your new boyfriend, huh?" Curtis said. They stood in the hallway, silent for a few minutes.
Curtis glanced at his watch. "Where is the women's model, planning to let it gather dust?"
"What women's model? I don't understand," Diana replied.
"Diana."
"What?"
"I think I should formally visit your home," Curtis said.
Diana's eyes immediately turned red.
She lowered her head, holding back tears, and walked back to her place in big strides.
Didn't he think he couldn't measure up?
Why suddenly want to visit?
Did her mother and grandmother's visit give him courage?
Diana felt her heartbeat irregular, but she understood Curtis's sudden decision to visit was related to her mother and grandmother's visit.
Did he feel pressured by them?
Curtis was always polite, but who knows what he thought of her?
Thinking this, she turned around, opened the door, and knocked on his door.
Soon, her phone rang in her room.
She answered, seeing it was Curtis.
"Come in, I'm showering," Curtis said.
Diana turned to look at her open door, thinking why he called and answered while showering.
She waited ten minutes, thinking he was probably done, then went over.
He was indeed done, drying his hair.
She walked slowly to his bathroom, hearing the hairdryer, the door open.
Curtis glanced at her, then continued drying his hair, which was short and quickly dried.
"Any instructions?" he asked, putting down the hairdryer, still calm.
Diana looked at him, feeling unsettled, but decided to speak, "I didn't know my grandmother and mother would come tonight."
"I could tell," he replied, putting the hairdryer away and walking out.
Diana felt she couldn't grasp him, calling out, "Can you listen to me before leaving?"
"I thought we weren't in a hurry," he said, turning to her.
Diana was stunned, then walked forward, "I'm in a hurry."
"Hmm?"
"Do you believe I didn't call them?"
"I can tell they're independent women, not easily manipulated."
Diana felt healed by his words. She thought he might misunderstand, but now she was relieved.
"Diana."
"Since you don't misunderstand, I'll go back. Don't take their words to heart. They probably thought we were getting back together, so they came to see," Diana said, lowering her head and walking away.
Curtis smiled helplessly, thinking she didn't care what he wanted to say.
Diana closed her door, feeling she had missed something but couldn't recall it.
Her phone rang again, a Facebook message from Curtis.
[What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?]
Diana's mind went blank.
What did he mean?
Flirting with Juliette while asking her about breakfast?
Jerk.
Thinking he was great for cooking?
Many men can cook.
Alexander could, but he loved making English muffins too much, always making that unhealthy stuff.
The next day, Serenade Villa.
Alexander rushed into the bathroom, hugging the woman washing her face from behind, "Good morning."
