Chapter 693 Where Did They Take Strawberry?
Victoria was totally roasting herself, no doubt about it.
A year flew by in a flash, and boom, they had a daughter.
Lately, she'd been scheming about Strawberry's future. Honestly, she wasn't sweating their future life; she'd even daydreamed about their cozy daily grind.
Sure, they'd bicker and squabble, but they'd still be each other's ride-or-die.
As for Alexander, she'd long ditched any fantasies about him.
Adrian was chilling outside Victoria's place, still dialing up Alexander. Yeah, he was worried.
After a bit, Alexander picked up, “What's up?”
“When you coming back? I wanna roll with you.”
Adrian's voice was soft.
Alexander's tall frame was by the window, looking kinda lonely, but his eyes were calm and steady. “Didn't we say we'd grab dinner? Let's do it tomorrow.”
“Sorry, Alexander, we can't do dinner.”
Adrian tried to keep it cool.
“Do you know why I suggested the three of us have dinner together?”
Alexander's voice was light but packed a punch.
Adrian suddenly clammed up.
“Adrian, I was just being formal. If I really wanted to see her alone, I could head over right now.”
“Alexander, she's my woman now.”
“So what? I just wanna see her.”
“Alexander, I don't want you to see her again. Just like when your folks made my parents leave Ankenra City, I'm now hiding with her. No other reason, I just don't wanna see you anymore.”
Adrian cooked up an excuse to refuse.
“Have you ever really thought of me as your family?”
Alexander asked, all chill.
“Of course.”
“If that was true, you souldn't have fallen for her.”
Alexander hung up.
Adrian, though, clutched his phone tight, unable to let go.
His vision even got blurry. He knew Alexander was the type no one could stop unless he didn't wanna do something. Adrian knew he couldn't handle Alexander.
He lost in business, and even in love...
Adrian glanced at the floor-to-ceiling window, but Victoria had already killed the lights.
She never wanted to be with him, just because he was Alexander's cousin.
He really hated that label.
What brother?
Adrian had promised Victoria he'd head home early, but he stayed at her doorstep, unable to leave.
Until the heavy snow started falling.
Victoria looked at the snow outside, grabbed the remote, and shut the curtains.
She didn't like snow anymore.
She clicked on an unread email, which had just a few words: [Sending you a beauty device, pick it up yourself tomorrow.]
An address was attached below.
Victoria replied with a thank you, then shut her laptop.
The next morning.
“Where is it?”
Alexander sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his brow, his voice all raspy.
“Just some private stuff. Can you grab it for me? I don't trust anyone else.”
Edward explained seriously over the phone.
“Next time, pick up your private stuff yourself.”
Alexander hung up.
But to Edward, that was a yes.
Shoure walked into Alexander's fancy suite, seeing him looking rough, asked, “Didn't sleep last night?”
“Headache. Go pick up something for Edward.”
“What is it?”
“No clue. I'll send you the address later.”
Alexander thought for a sec, he really didn't know what it was.
Shoure didn't argue because Alexander looked so bad. He walked over, reached out, and then seriously said to Alexander, “You've got a fever.”
Alexander shifted away, not wanting to be touched.
But he could barely keep his eyes open. Maybe he really did have a fever.
Shoure left him some fever meds before heading out. Alexander lay in bed, almost drifting off, but Edward's words kept echoing in his head.
She used to give him medicine when he was sick.
But now a dude was doing it?
Alexander's eyes started to sting again.
Shoure followed the address Alexander gave him and found the store.
As soon as he walked in, he heard someone else come in behind him. He instinctively turned around.
Victoria, with her short hair neatly tucked behind her ears, wore a simple sweater and pants, with a heavy brown coat that looked like it could crush her at any moment.
"Hey, my friend ordered a beauty device here."
"Name and phone number, please."
"Olivia, 139..."
As she spoke, Shoure noticed her gentle voice and pure, calm eyes...
"Victoria?"
He couldn't help but call out.
Victoria heard her name and turned, looking confused.
She saw Shoure standing diagonally across from her and was momentarily stunned.
Shoure suddenly felt like he was in the wrong place.
In other words, it should have been Alexander who came.
Victoria's mouth moved a few times. She recognized him but didn't know what to say.
In the end, they both took their items. Knowing Edward had sent him, she couldn't help but laugh, and Shoure laughed too.
They sat on a bench by the square outside. Shoure looked at her, "You've changed a lot."
"Not really."
Victoria smiled politely.
"Alexander, he..."
"I gotta go."
"He's got a fever and is still out cold."
Shoure suddenly said as she was about to leave.
Victoria had already stood up, looked at him for a long time, and smiled, "I know. I, I have to go."
"Don't you want to see Alexander?"
Shoure asked.
Victoria didn't answer, just tried to smile, then raised her hand to say goodbye.
Shoure sat there, watching her lonely figure leave, feeling a strange tug at his heart.
She looked terrible.
Though she was dressed nicely and always smiled politely at him, her eyes held a kind of incomprehensible brokenness, like she had long been shattered.
So, that incident had really messed her up?
More than they could have imagined.
So Alexander didn't want to see her either.
Shoure inadvertently looked down, sighed lightly, and saw a small box on the seat. He picked it up, looked at it, and then immediately looked towards the road.
But Victoria was already gone.
Shoure stood by the roadside for a long time with the two boxes, then just smiled helplessly.
Edward and Olivia's intentions were ruined by his thoughtlessness?
As he was about to get in the car and leave, he suddenly turned around.
Alexander, wearing a black coat, stood diagonally across, not knowing how long he had been there.
So the guy who should have been resting in the hotel had actually come.
Did they run into each other?
Did they see each other?
Even for a moment?
As Victoria got into the taxi and left, her heart pounded.
Was that blurry figure Alexander?
She didn't even dare to look. When she felt like a mountain was in front of her, she quickly turned away, pretending to be calm.
Was it him?
Victoria felt herself trembling, her heart pounding uncontrollably.
When she got home, Frank and Eve were not there. Her lips parted slightly and she stood there foolishly, then suddenly panicked and ran outside.
Where did they go?
Where did they take Strawberry?
