Chapter 709 Daisy's Question
Victoria hadn't been around these parts in ages.
She went to change her clothes, and when she came back downstairs, Eve was already there, looking sharp in a blue professional outfit in the living room.
"Mrs. Harrington."
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm still your bodyguard," Eve said, all serious.
Victoria didn't say much and just got into the car Eve had driven over.
"Is this your ride?" She didn't want to keep thinking about her fight with Alexander over Strawberry's custody, so she started chatting with Eve.
"No, the security department has a few cars just for you and Mr. Harrington. I can use them when I pick you up," Eve replied.
Victoria went quiet for a bit before saying, "We're already divorced."
"But Mr. Harrington didn't say I couldn't use them."
Victoria paused, then joked, "Eve, you might not know Alexander well enough. When he's in a good mood, he doesn't care much about what you do wrong. But when he's in a bad mood, he's a real pain."
"If it really comes to that, I hope Mrs. Harrington can put in a good word for me with Mr. Harrington."
"I can barely protect myself."
When Victoria got to the Harrington Group office building, she had to brace herself.
Coming back here, everything felt different. Eve parked the car and caught up with her, walking inside together.
"You can wait for me in the car."
"I didn't get any message to wait for you in the car."
Victoria gave her a puzzled look.
"I just got a huge bonus, probably a reward for taking care of you alone before."
Victoria thought, 'Come on! Alexander couldn't care less about whether I live or die. He probably thinks it's better if I'm dead, that way no one will compete with him for Strawberry.'
"Victoria?" Just as they were about to walk in, a female voice called from behind.
Both Eve and Victoria turned around; it was Daisy.
"You're back?" Daisy said nervously.
"Yeah," Victoria replied.
"Are you here to see Alexander?" Daisy instinctively changed her usual way of addressing Alexander.
Victoria checked her watch and saw it was still ten minutes to ten.
"Mrs. Harrington is here to see Mr. Harrington and Miss Harrington," Eve spoke first.
"Miss Harrington? I know, she's super cute." Daisy's heart skipped a beat, but she smiled and praised.
Victoria felt like a needle had been stuck in her heart, "You've seen Strawberry?"
"Of course, Alexander takes her with him all the time," Daisy said.
After hearing this, Victoria immediately turned and walked inside.
Alexander actually took Strawberry to see other women?
Daisy immediately followed, "I know you two are divorced, so I’m pursuing Alexander. You shouldn't mind, right?"
"As you said, we are already divorced, so you don't need to ask me about this," Victoria said and headed straight for the boss's private elevator.
She wouldn't hesitate for even a second now.
After she got on the elevator, Eve immediately turned and blocked Daisy.
Daisy looked at the people inside, "I'm also here to see Alexander. Can't we go together?"
"Ms. Bryant, please stop. This is Mr. and Mrs. Harrington's private elevator," Eve said coldly before turning and entering the elevator.
Daisy hated this suddenly appearing female bodyguard, but she could only look at the people inside.
But it seemed that Victoria had no intention of taking her along.
Daisy had to use another elevator, but someone stopped her and said, "Ms. Bryant, do you have an appointment?"
"Yeah."
"Let me check."
"You, call Alexander now. We drank together last night, and he said I could come to see him."
Daisy lost her steam for a second.
The elevator opened on the top floor, and just as Victoria was about to step out, someone lunged at her.
Before she could see clearly, she heard a scream.
"Victoria, it's me, Janaye."
"Eve, let go, she's my friend."
Eve let go after hearing that.
Janaye stood up, rubbing her shoulder, "Victoria, am I gonna have a fracture?"
"No, I didn't use that much force," Eve said, all serious and cold.
Victoria glanced at Eve, feeling a bit helpless, then helped Janaye walk out. "Does it hurt a lot? Maybe you should hit the hospital."
"I should be fine. Victoria, I missed you so much. You don't know how Mr. Harrington threatened to can me every day since you left over a year ago."
Victoria silently patted her back, thinking Alexander must have been just scaring Janaye.
"But Victoria, Strawberry is really so cute." Janaye cried a bit without tears, then quickly calmed down and said.
Hearing about Strawberry, Victoria felt a bit better and instantly remembered why she was here. She asked, "Alexander went to a meeting, right?"
"He's inside." Janaye suddenly lowered her voice.
"He said the meeting starts at ten."
Victoria checked her watch again, thinking he should have gone into the meeting room a few minutes early.
She didn't let herself think too much; after all, she was here to pick up Strawberry.
She knocked on the door, and soon a voice came from inside, saying, "Come in."
"Why are you just getting here?"
As she opened the door, several executives looked at her, and the domineering Alexander sitting alone asked her aggressively.
"Strawberry seems hungry. There's formula in the lounge. Take her to feed."
Alexander commanded again.
At this moment, Strawberry was in his arms.
Victoria walked closer, feeling awkward, but she still nodded politely.
"Ms. Kensington, long time no see."
"We thought you two were really divorced."
"So you went abroad to have a baby."
The three executives spoke one after another, while Shoure, sitting next to Alexander, stayed silent.
Victoria gave an awkward smile and just walked over to Alexander to take Strawberry, but she couldn't bend down.
Alexander seemed impatient and lifted Strawberry higher.
Only after Victoria securely held Strawberry did Alexander let go, saying indifferently, "It's a bit cold. Don't let her catch a cold."
"Okay."
Victoria said nothing else and took Strawberry to the lounge.
Strawberry was indeed hungry. As soon as she was in Victoria's arms, she immediately started her old habit.
Alexander inadvertently looked up and saw Strawberry tugging at Victoria's neckline. He frowned, especially seeing those people staring at Victoria and Strawberry. He immediately said sternly, "Continue the meeting."
Everyone snapped back to reality and resumed their discussion.
Victoria took Strawberry into the lounge. She hadn't fed Strawberry all morning, so she didn't need formula.
Breastfeeding would be better for Strawberry.
But after sitting for a while, Victoria's back hurt, so she lay down.
Strawberry was used to drinking milk while lying down. Victoria silently watched her little mouth move. Although it hurt a bit, she felt very at ease.
However, Alexander's words about not breastfeeding Strawberry inexplicably resurfaced in her mind, giving her a headache again.
After Strawberry was full, she fell asleep. Victoria slowly tidied up her clothes and silently stayed with her.
Half an hour later, the meeting ended, and Alexander's eyes glanced towards the lounge door again.
There was a knock on the door outside. "Mr. Harrington, Ms. Bryant is here."
