Chapter 540 "Victoria, Close The Door Quickly. He'll Hit Me and You Too."

Alexander shot a glance at Adrian, his eyes practically saying, "See? Now you know who's really important to her, huh?"

Adrian felt a sharp pang in his chest but stayed put.

When Victoria led him out, Leander had already pulled the car around and quickly hopped out to open the back door.

Victoria helped Alexander into the car and gently said, "Sit tight."

Alexander didn't say a word, just scooted further in.

Victoria shut the door without a word, then turned to Leander. "I have a scene to shoot later. Leander, take Alexander to the hospital. He's having an allergic reaction."

"Got it." Leander didn't waste any time and drove off.

Alexander couldn't help but roll down the window to look at Victoria, but she was already walking away, not looking back.

Adrian, still sitting in the breakfast shop, suddenly started laughing.

He knew Victoria wasn't being foolish anymore.

She probably just wanted to avoid any serious trouble by sending Alexander to the car.

Victoria was actually pretty anxious. She thought, 'Last time Alexander ate that chili pepper, he had an allergy. He really shouldn't eat chili peppers anymore. But in restaurants, any dish could have chili in it, and he's so picky.'

At the hospital.

Benjamin and Tessa came to check on Alexander.

Alexander was lying on the bed, lightly dozing.

Tessa stood by the bed and asked, "Alexander's not gonna die, right?"

"Don't talk nonsense," Benjamin warned her.

"No, seriously, I read about someone dying in their sleep," Tessa prattled on.

"Stop it," Benjamin snapped in a low voice.

They whispered to each other, then quietly watched Alexander.

Annoyed by the noise, Alexander pulled the blanket over his head and turned over.

They both felt relieved, but Tessa couldn't help but say, "If something happens to you, I'm not gonna be your widow."

"Get out," came a muffled voice from under the blanket.

Benjamin looked at Tessa, thinking she was really spoiled, saying whatever she wanted.

"Alright." Tessa tugged at Benjamin's sleeve and walked out.

Benjamin grabbed her hand and looked at the blanket. "Want me to call Victoria for you?"

As soon as he said that, the room went silent.

Tessa frowned. "Her name is Felicity. Why do you keep calling her Victoria?"

'Felicity sounds way better than Victoria,' Tessa thought.

"I'll call her later," Benjamin said, then left with Tessa.

Outside, Tessa asked, "How do you have Ms. Katherine's number?"

"I'll explain later," Benjamin said, pulling out his phone to make a call.

A man's voice answered. "Hello, I'm Felicity's agent, Dennis. How can I help you?"

"This is Benjamin. Felicity's man is about to die. Tell her to come after work," Benjamin said calmly, but made it sound serious.

Tessa stared at him in shock, and after he hung up, she slapped his chest. "Why are you asking another woman to see my husband?"

Benjamin glared at her. "Are you done with your act?"

"Why don't you send me to Hollywood too?" Tessa retorted.

"Keep dreaming," Benjamin said, striding ahead, and Tessa quickly followed.

Alexander thought his allergic reaction was bad enough for one day. In the afternoon, William came to see him and, thinking he might be bored, turned on the TV.

Then he lay on the bed watching Victoria get proposed to.

William said, "Actors these days really know how to show off. A real proposal on set? Don't they usually keep that private?"

Alexander's face darkened.

"Marry me," Jason said.

"Okay," Victoria agreed to Jason's proposal.

Later that evening, at the film base hotel.

In the room, Dennis looked serious. "I don't care what's going on between you two. You need to tell the media it was just a game of truth or dare."

Jason shook his head. "Sorry, I can't do that."

Victoria was baffled. Jason had just shown up out of nowhere and proposed to her in public.

When Victoria's parents had passed away, Jason's family backed out of their promise, thinking she was cursed, so she married Alexander instead.

Now, with Jason's sudden proposal, she couldn't help but ask, "Did your parents know you came to propose to me?"

Jason smiled wistfully. "I'm in love with you."

Victoria shot back, "Who was it that didn't dare to marry me back then?"

They stood on opposite sides of the room, each holding their ground.

Dennis was confused. "What's going on here?"

Jason said, "It was my fault, but that's all in the past. I'm here to make amends now."

Victoria replied coldly, "Too late."

She wondered, 'If the Sterling family had taken me in back then, would my life be different? Maybe I'd be a teacher like my parents, living a simple life instead of the hell I'd been through these past few years, surviving near-death experiences.'

"Then why did you agree?" Jason asked, indignant.

"Should I be the only one abandoned by a man?" Victoria snorted.

"Victoria, I'm serious this time. I regretted it after you came back. Even if my parents were afraid of you, I shouldn't have thought that way."

"Nothing you say matters now," Victoria said curtly, shutting him down.

Victoria saw Jason was serious, but she had already taken off the ring. She went to the nightstand, opened the drawer, took out the ring, and walked over to him, stuffing it into his pocket.

Jason impulsively said, "I'll take that as a yes, but we won't get married right away. I just need to have the upper hand."

Victoria asked, confused, "What upper hand?"

"I can't let Alexander take you away again. I want to stay here and help you with your acting. I can apply to be your assistant, unpaid."

Jason felt he was here to show his loyalty.

He had fallen in love with her, which was why he had come to Ankenra City several times under the pretense of traveling.

Victoria asked seriously, "Do you love me, or are you just upset that Alexander married me?"

Jason suddenly fell silent.

Dennis felt the issue was resolved and soon pulled Jason out of Victoria's room.

Victoria stood by the window, unable to stop herself from laughing, but as she laughed, she couldn't help but cry.

She cursed in her mind, 'Men are all jerks, comparing themselves to each other without any sincerity. And it seems that men of the same age are much more immature than women.'

Feeling a bit stifled, Victoria went to the bathroom to take a shower.

She didn't hear the doorbell while blow-drying her hair. When she finished and came out, she heard someone pounding on the door.

She quickly went out and saw a familiar figure getting up from another familiar figure.

"I warn you, don't bother her again," the man standing up said decisively.

The man lying on the ground, unable to move, suddenly whimpered, "Victoria, close the door quickly. He'll hit me and you too."
