Chapter 281 The Robber Arrives in Ankenra

Alexander's smile was soft, his voice low as he expressed his relief. "It's good that you're fine."

Victoria, noticing his apparent belief in her words, finally allowed herself a small sigh of relief. She yearned for this matter to be as simple as turning a page in a book, never to be mentioned again.

"I have to go on a business trip today," Alexander announced. "For now, you can stay at Harrington Mansion. We'll discuss our matters when I return."

Victoria, anxiety creeping into her voice, suggested, "We can get a divorce first."

Alexander's response was firm, "We won't get a divorce until you have a child for me." His gaze was unwavering as he lifted her from the table, carrying her back to the bedroom. Victoria, taken aback, stared at him in confusion. "Where are you taking me?"

"To change your clothes and check your body," he replied matter-of-factly.

With his business trip looming, Alexander sent Victoria to the Harrington Mansion. He informed Eloise of Victoria's injury, explaining it as simply as Victoria had. But soon, he was on a plane to Danisland, a nagging suspicion gnawing at him. Victoria's acting had been too clumsy; he was certain she had been lying from the start.

Meanwhile, Victoria received a phone call from Jason Sterling. "Do you know where the person who booked the last flight is going?" he asked.

"Where?" Victoria asked.

"Ankenra," Jason revealed, throwing Victoria's mind into turmoil.

"Vicky, did you offend someone in Ankenra?" Jason asked her.

"Maybe it's just a coincidence. Thank you, Jason," Victoria responded, attempting to keep her voice steady.

Jason, still concerned, asked, "When will you come back?"

"It will take some time," Victoria replied, her heart sinking. Her passport had been taken away again.

Alexander had instructed her to check her body, but had seized the opportunity to rummage through her bag while she was in the bathroom. He had declared that she wouldn't have the chance to leave again in this manner. Victoria had a nagging feeling that something was amiss, but couldn't pinpoint what it was. Only when she emerged did Eloise instruct the driver to accompany her as her attendant.

Alexander had advised her against applying too much concealer and other cosmetics, to aid the recovery of her injuries. He had also gifted her several light-colored scarves. When Victoria stepped outside, she felt as light and free as a butterfly, the late September air refreshing against her skin.

Jasmine had invited her to a café. Upon seeing Victoria, she exclaimed, "You're finally back! If you hadn't returned, I would have died."

"Why do you say that?" Victoria asked.

"Because the boss threatens to fire me every day," Jasmine explained, causing Victoria to chuckle. Despite her seemingly carefree attitude, Jasmine was dedicated and serious about her work.

Jasmine, lowering her voice, asked, "Have you made up with the boss?"

"I came back to get a divorce," Victoria revealed, leaving Jasmine speechless. She quickly changed the subject, complimenting Victoria's scarves.

"If you like them, I'll give you some," Victoria offered, remembering the box of scarves Alexander had given her. She had brought two along to give to Jasmine, ensuring she wouldn't be the only 'butterfly.'

As they chatted, a familiar scent wafted towards them. Without even looking up, Victoria knew it was Isabella Montgomery. Isabella approached their table, a small white bag in hand, and greeted them with a smile. She gave Jasmine a nod before turning her attention to Victoria. Noticing Victoria's tightly wrapped scarf, she deduced that Victoria must be injured.

Despite a sense of satisfaction, Isabella's tone was arrogant as she said, "This time you came back, it must be to proceed with the divorce proceedings with Alex, right?"
