Chapter 1008 Not Wanting to Be Abandoned Again

After all, he's seducing his own woman.

He knew he was enjoying it.

But if they didn't find their fun, life would be pretty dull.

Benjamin had mentioned that he'd been acting a bit strange lately, and it was true.

He was constantly thinking about how to get closer to Victoria.

So what if there was a five-year age gap?

So what if he had to give in a little?

He had no problem with that.

When he got back into bed, he did it quickly and forcefully, yanking the covers off and pressing himself against her, wearing only shorts and a tank top.

Victoria immediately panicked.

She had been mentally preparing herself for so long, thinking things would progress gradually.

But he just dove right in.

Victoria hunched her shoulders, her breathing becoming erratic.

"I'm clean, you can touch me." He said.

She didn't want to touch him.

She resisted again, not expecting this, finding it too frightening.

She didn't know if she could handle what might happen next, so she pushed him away with all her might.

"I even sprayed on the perfume you like, Tori. Don't push me away."

He pinned her beneath him, pressing his forehead against hers, holding her hand to his chest, murmuring.

He cupped her face and kissed her lips.

No forehead or nose kisses, just an assault on her lips.

Victoria's heart pounded like a drum, and she let out a panicked whimper.

His aggressive approach triggered some bad memories.

A man had once straddled her, hitting her chest hard just because she resisted.

She quickly became paralyzed with fear, not daring to move or even breathe.

Alexander sensed something was wrong and slowly stopped. He saw that her face had gone pale, devoid of any color.

"Tori."

He called her name, worried.

Victoria couldn't speak, tears suddenly streaming down her face.

"I'm sorry, Tori. I won't do it."

He whispered, his voice filled with pain.

Victoria felt the weight lift off her and turned away, curling up with her back to him.

She was scared.

She wasn't as calm and brave as she thought.

She couldn't see, but the impact of the pain lingered in her mind, refusing to go away.

She hoped that one day she might forget.

Just like she had forgotten everything from a few months ago.

She only had memories from the past few months.

She had been taken to that place, tortured until she was covered in wounds, humiliated until she had no self-respect, waiting to be bought and sold.

She had thought about redemption, but it was fleeting.

Because who would save someone as broken as her?

No one would be kind to someone like her without a reason, especially someone as damaged as she was.

That night, she had a terrible dream. She was abandoned.

She was left in the ruins.

He despised her, thought she wasn't brave enough, thought she was too delicate, so he didn't want her anymore.

He drove her to an abandoned place, left her there, and drove away.

She was alone again, in a dirty, cold, dark space.

She shivered, murmuring, "Don't leave me."

No one heard her because he was already gone.

Alexander woke up early to exercise for an hour.

When he returned to the room, he saw her curled up, shivering. He approached her gently, "Tori? Tori?"

His hands were cold from being outside, so he rubbed them together to warm them up before touching her forehead.

His brows furrowed immediately.

She was burning up.

He quickly checked the back of her neck, which was even hotter.

Given her current fragile condition, he immediately picked her up and took her to the hospital.

When Victoria woke up, she heard a man repeatedly asking, "Are you sure? It's just a cold and a fever, right? Promise me there's nothing else wrong with her."

"Yes, Mr. Harrington, I can assure you, Mrs. Harrington has no other issues."

The doctor was confident in his diagnosis, so Alexander finally relaxed.

He glanced at the woman on the hospital bed receiving an IV, then asked, "Is there any chance she might regain her sight?"

"That remains to be seen."

The doctor was genuinely unsure, as that required a specialist, and he was only an expert in his field.

Victoria heard their conversation. She could tell he was very worried about her, even though he was quite forceful.

Victoria regretted her reaction last night. How could she be so timid?

They had been sharing a bed for so long.

Soon, the sound of the door closing pulled her out of her thoughts.

She heard footsteps, deliberately light, as if trying not to disturb her.

She didn't open her eyes because, to her, it made no difference whether they were open or closed.

She had thought that if she just slept forever, it would be a kind of release.

She had thought that countless times.

Alexander sat by the bed, looking at her with a tired expression.

Victoria sensed his presence but felt paralyzed, unable to speak or move.

Until she felt the bed dip slightly, her long lashes fluttered.

"Fool, you're sick again."

He murmured, looking at her quietly.

Victoria was puzzled by his words. Had she been prone to illness before?

If that were true, it would make sense.

No wonder she was so sensitive to pain; she must have a frail constitution.

But if she accepted his words, did that mean she trusted everything he said?

"The Harrington family killed your parents, tortured you until you were covered in wounds."

Daisy's voice echoed in her ears, and her hand clenched the blanket tightly.

She didn't know it was snowing outside.

Alexander, sitting next to her, was looking at the snow, his smile tinged with bitterness and mockery.

"You used to love snowy days. I wonder if you still do."

He murmured.

Victoria couldn't hear clearly, but she felt him get up. Instinctively, she reached out.

But she didn't catch him.

She quietly withdrew her hand.

The phone rang in the room, and soon, he left.

Victoria heard the door close and felt a sudden wave of anxiety.

He was gone.

What had he just said?

Was he saying goodbye?

Victoria was angry at herself for not hearing clearly, even angrier for not holding onto him.

Would bad people come to take her away now that he was gone?

Like in her dream, she was abandoned.

Would he just leave her like that?

She thought about it, opened her eyes, and even though everything was pitch black, she threw off the covers and felt her way to the edge of the bed.

She couldn't let him abandon her.

She didn't want to go back to that place.
