Chapter 528 Love at First Sight
Dennis was floored the moment he walked in. "What's going on?" he asked.
Felicity shoved Alexander aside and stormed out, yelling, "I'm done with this commercial! Get someone else to do it!"
Dennis shot Alexander a look, sizing him up for a few seconds before chasing after Felicity.
Alexander just stood there, his chest still numb from the shove, his expression growing colder.
Outside, Dennis saw Felicity's red eyes and tear-streaked face. "Did Alexander harass you?" he asked, worried.
Felicity fumed, "He ripped off my eyelashes! He's a total psycho!"
Dennis was taken aback. 'Ripping off eyelashes? What kind of weird hobby is that?' he thought. But at least Alexander didn't take advantage of her.
Dennis had always thought Alexander seemed like a gentleman. If he'd been rude to Felicity, Dennis would have made sure he paid for it.
Dennis and Felicity's meeting was a total fluke.
Felicity had snuck into the train station and ended up in Glory City.
She had no idea where to go. The train stopped, and with someone chasing her, she didn't dare stay on, afraid they'd find her and drag her back.
She was shivering, wandering alone in that strange city near the train station when she bumped into Dennis, who was about to leave.
Dennis had planned to quit and head back to his hometown to farm, but then he met Felicity.
He felt like he fell for her at first sight. He even asked if she understood his feelings.
Felicity wasn't interested.
She had no other choice; her phone, ID, everything was gone.
If she didn't know Dennis, she wouldn't have dared to follow him. But she'd heard a famous star mention him and had seen his photo, so they stuck together and Dennis started over his career.
After making sure Felicity was okay, Dennis calmed down and asked, "Don't you want the four million dollars? Are you really quitting?"
Felicity went silent.
Alexander came out and said, "I can't stand fake appearances. Tonight, the three of us will have dinner. Ms. Katherine, drop the disguise."
Felicity glared at him, and Dennis was confused.
These days, all girls wore makeup.
Besides, Felicity's makeup looked great. What kind of women had Alexander seen? Was he worried Felicity would look ugly without makeup?
And this wasn't a blind date. Even if she was really ugly, she could just keep wearing makeup.
Why did Alexander want Felicity to remove her makeup?
Dennis thought "removing disguise" meant taking off makeup.
And he was right.
Alexander quickly left, and Dennis asked Felicity, "So, are you gonna take off your makeup and have dinner with him tonight?"
Felicity snapped, "Why should I go?"
"Should I go alone then?" Dennis asked awkwardly.
"Didn't we agree to go back to Glory City after the shoot?"
"We haven't gotten paid yet," Dennis replied.
"What?" Felicity asked, shocked.
"This is your first time working with such a rich company, so..." Dennis rubbed his chin.
He was eager to shoot the commercial even before signing the contract.
The Harrington Group definitely wasn't short on cash, so Felicity wouldn't lose out.
"I don't care. I'm not having dinner with him. I want to go back to Glory City." Felicity turned and went back inside.
When Felicity was alone, she calmed her surface anger, her eyes showing no emotion.
Alexander's words echoed in her ears, "Don't tell me you've forgetten who you are after wearing fake eyelashes?"
So, did he know who she was?
Did he think he understood her?
As she watched him...
Felicity quickly pulled herself together, reminding herself, 'I'm Felicity, yes.'
In this life, everyone had to pay for their mistakes and impulsiveness. She had already paid her dues, and it wouldn't happen again.
She never wanted to be that shivering beggar at the train station, getting weird looks from strangers.
After wrapping up her work, Felicity hopped into a cab. This time, no one held her ID hostage, and she had enough money on her phone to go wherever she wanted.
The taxi driver glanced in the rearview mirror and asked, "Miss, looks like a car's tailing us. Friend or foe?"
Felicity turned to look. At first, she didn't react, but then her heart sank.
It was the Harringtons' car.
"Step on it, please. I need to get to the airport," she urged the driver.
"Got it." The driver didn't ask any more questions, just focused on getting her there safely.
Dennis's call came in. Felicity glanced at it and turned off her phone.
But the car kept following, making her heart race.
Did the Harringtons know she was here?
She had expected to run into them again, but not this soon.
Was it Alexander?
He always used elders to threaten her.
She reminded herself again, 'I'm Felicity.'
That evening, at the Frosty Summit Hotel's western restaurant, the atmosphere was awkward.
The entire floor had only two people, and they were both men.
Alexander elegantly cut his steak, saying nothing.
Dennis asked curiously, "Mr. Harrington, do you know Felicity from before?"
"Felicity? No, I don't." Alexander smiled faintly, putting a piece of steak into his mouth and chewing forcefully.
He sneered in his mind, 'No one can control her now, huh?'
Dennis said, "Then she must look familiar."
"Did you give her the name Felicity?" Alexander suddenly started chatting leisurely.
"Of course not. She was always called Felicity. She said the name was good enough and didn't need a stage name."
"Indeed, it's a good name." Alexander cut another piece of steak and put it in his mouth.
Dennis, who had been successful and mingled in the entertainment industry, prided himself on understanding people. But after meeting Alexander, he found him unfathomable.
He could only guess that this man was ruthless and decisive.
Dennis hesitated. "Felicity finished shooting the commercial today, but the Harrington Group's payment..."
Alexander said indifferently, "That's not my responsibility."
Dennis's mind was alarmed, feeling like he was about to be scammed. He asked, "Then who should I contact?"
Alexander replied coldly, "Ask Felicity. She knows."
Dennis thought, 'I don't even know. How could she know?'
Dennis said, "Actually, Mr. Harrington, you might not know that Felicity is an orphan. When I met her, she was at the train station in the dead of winter, wearing very thin clothes, shivering. She must have been bullied by bad people."
Alexander's hand stopped cutting the steak, his deep eyes staring at the steak on his plate, and he suddenly felt uncomfortable.
He thought, 'Who made her look like that to gain sympathy?'
The surroundings grew darker. Finally, Alexander put down his knife and fork, leaned back in his seat, and stared at Dennis, "Sorry. Please continue enjoying your meal. Excuse me."
At that moment, he couldn't sit there any longer.
He stood up, his long legs striding coldly towards the exit.
"Mr. Harrington, there's a girl outside claiming to be your wife. She wants to see you," the staff reminded him at the door.
Alexander replied indifferently, "Tell her to wait for me at the Regal Retreat."
