Chapter 549 Strawberries

The sun beat down on the car roof, making it blinding.

Victoria paused for a half-minute before leaving.

She thought, 'Now that everything is out in the open, I don't need to pretend anymore. We should just forget each other. That is best.'

Alexander's driver, Cade, quickly caught up, holding a box. "Mrs. Harrington, Mr. Harrington asked me to give you some ointment."

Victoria stopped when she saw Cade, looking puzzled.

Cade explained, "Mr. Harrington was worried your hand might hurt. You can use it on your face too."

Victoria felt a pang in her heart and glanced back at the car.

There was no hope in her eyes anymore, a stark contrast to the blazing sun.

Was Alexander worried about her hand?

Her hand did hurt, but didn't he know that physical pain was nothing compared to emotional pain?

Alexander paid close attention to these details, yet she no longer found them affecting.

Victoria looked at the ointment in Cade's hand and said, "I don't need it. Thank Mr. Harrington for his kindness."

"Mrs. Harrington, Mr. Harrington is in the car. Why don't you return it to him yourself?"

"I didn't take the ointment, so what would I return? And I'm not Mrs. Harrington. Please call me Ms. Katherine." Victoria nodded politely and kept walking.

Cade quickly followed. The sun was so intense it made his eyes blur.

After walking a bit, Victoria finally stopped, not wanting to make Cade feel awkward.

"Give it to me." She took the ointment and headed back to Alexander's car.

When she reached the car, she knocked on the window without looking at him.

Alexander rolled down the window, and she tossed the ointment inside before walking away.

Alexander held the ointment, watching Victoria's stubborn retreat.

He was the one being misunderstood. Why was she so angry?

Victoria was so mad that she changed her name, agreed to Jason's proposal, and threw things at him?

Alexander was furious.

Why couldn't Victoria understand him?

He had clearly told her he hadn't slept with Isabella.

Victoria left so resolutely, as if he had betrayed her.

He cursed to himself, 'Damn it.'

The afternoon scene was where the leads expressed their love and had their first kiss.

Craig said this scene was crucial, but Adrian was nervous.

Ava saw him standing alone behind the car and walked over. "Haven't you always wanted to date her? Your relationship in this movie is sweet. Shouldn't you be happy?"

Adrian felt annoyed.

Of course, he wanted to date her, but...

How could he say it?

Adrian turned to look at Victoria, who was seriously reading the script, seemingly unaffected.

Did Victoria not care about kissing Adrian later?

Victoria glanced in his direction faintly.

After all, it was just a kiss.

Seeing Adrian so nervous, Victoria thought for a moment and then suggested, "How about I kiss you?"

Adrian was stunned.

The scene was done in one take.

Adrian hesitant to kiss Victoria, she abruptly stood on tiptoe, softly embracing his shoulder, and gently kissed his lips.

Adrian's mind went blank.

After the shoot, Victoria put her heels back down and smiled. "You're really bad at this."

Adrian was instantly unhappy.

Victoria turned around, about to secretly breathe a sigh of relief, but then she saw Alexander.

Why was he still here?

Alexander had lost his sun hat at noon and was now standing behind a group of staff, staring straight at her.

Victoria's heart felt like it had been ripped out and thrown to the ground.

The impact was so jarring she couldn't accept it.

It was just a scene.

Wasn't that just how the acting industry worked?

Besides, she just wanted Adrian to give up.

Adrian couldn't do it.

Some affections, after years of unrequited love, gradually lose their spark.

The person involved just doesn't realize it.

Adrian was probably one of those.

After that scene, Victoria didn't see Alexander for two whole days.

That day, after filming the date scene, Adrian pushed out a birthday cake, surrounded by people, and the lights dimmed as everyone sang the birthday song.

Victoria finally realized today was her birthday.

No wonder Adrian and Dennis had been acting strange all day.

After the final scene wrapped at 8, Victoria emerged to find someone outside.

"Mrs. Harrington," Felix said.

"Felix." Victoria was genuinely surprised to see him.

"Happy birthday, Mrs. Harrington. Mrs. Eloise Harrington asked me to bring you home for birthday cake."

Victoria was about to tell Felix to go back, but when she heard "birthday cake," she suddenly smiled with tears in her eyes.

As soon as she got in the car, a group of people came out of the room, and Nicole muttered, "Is Victoria being kept?"

"You don't know her background. I suggest you watch your mouth," Adrian immediately said, displeased, and then walked away.

"Felix, is Brett's illness better?" Victoria asked.

"Yes. Brett was looking forward to seeing you on your birthday, so he's been in good spirits," Felix replied.

"That's good. I actually miss them a lot, and you too."

Victoria felt it was really not easy for Felix to come all the way to pick her up.

Brett and Eloise rarely went out, so they didn't use the car much. It was mostly Victoria who used it.

"Mrs. Harrington, you finally admit you're Victoria." Felix was in a good mood.

Victoria smiled at his words and then looked out the window.

How could she not admit it?

Alexander was even going to stop her from mourning her parents.

After arriving in the city, Felix said, "Mrs. Harrington, I need to pick someone up over there."

"Okay."

Victoria didn't think much of it and just happened to check a message from Craig.

Borrow the car?

Victoria frowned as she read it.

Felix slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road, and she instinctively looked out the window. A cold wind blew in.

The door behind her had been opened.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Alexander got in, squeezing into the two-seater with her.

When he climbed in, Victoria instinctively lowered her gaze, forgetting to turn around and sit properly for a long time.

She kept her body turned towards him until Alexander gave her a cold glance and then said to Felix, "Go."

"Okay." Felix immediately started the car again.

Victoria came to her senses and tried to move inward, but her coat was pinned down.

She looked down and calmly said, "You're sitting on my coat."

Alexander acted as if he didn't hear her and said indifferently, "Felix, stop at Regal Retreat. Edward said he has something to deliver."

"Okay," Felix responded again.

Hearing the words "Regal Retreat," Victoria's heart tightened, but she forced herself to stay calm.

'As long as I don't go inside,' she thought to herself.

After all, it wasn't her first time passing by Regal Retreat.

Edward's car was parked at the entrance of the community. When Edward saw Felix's car, he got out with a beautiful basket.

Felix got out to receive the items, and the back window was rolled down.

Edward glanced inside and waved. "Hey, Victoria."

Victoria smiled and nodded.

Edward smiled. "Happy birthday. Olivia put your birthday gift in the basket."

Alexander said, "I remember I only asked you to put strawberries in it."
