Chapter 494 Did You Really Not Know That Her Illness Was Fake Before?

"I just want a real answer," Victoria explained calmly.

At this moment, she didn't want to break down over how he was juggling two women but wanted to know if Alexander realized it.

She stopped here since digging too deep became pointless.

"What answer?" Alexander looked at her, becoming quite serious.

"Did you really not know her illness was fake?" Victoria asked.

She thought, 'No matter what, we should face each other honestly. At least on such a big matter, we should be truthful.'

Alexander touched the two reports, but after a few seconds, he still moved his hand away.

Victoria watched his actions and couldn't help but smile bitterly. "So you did know?"

"I didn't know," he said seriously.

"Didn't know?" Victoria asked.

"I wasn't sure, but I was suspicious. Even though Edward and others found she had leukemia, I doubted it but couldn't be sure," he said.

"Then why didn't you investigate it yourself?" Victoria couldn't understand.

"She's just an insignificant person. Why would I waste time on her?" Alexander explained.

"I just want to..." Alexander added.

"Alexander, stop being so self-righteous. Do you remember when you almost divorced me for her? You requested me to buy roses, gifts, and organize a birthday party for her. How is she insignificant?" Victoria stood up, not understanding how he could speak so coldly.

"I admit I did. Even now, I can guarantee I would divorce you if I got a woman pregnant while drunk," Alexander said.

Victoria suddenly couldn't blame him anymore.

She didn't even know what to say.

"But usually, I wouldn't make such a low-level mistake," Alexander continued confidently.

"I want a divorce," Victoria suddenly said.

"Just because I went to the hospital this morning?" Alexander asked her.

"Because you made me feel..." Before she could finish, he suddenly pulled out a box of fever medicine and a thermometer from his pocket.

Victoria stared blankly at the two items on the table.

"She is in the 17th-floor ICU. I only stayed on the first floor.  Check the surveillance if you don't trust me," Alexander said.

Victoria's mind didn't almost think, 'Did he really go to get me fever medicine?'

"But I don't have a fever," Victoria said.

Alexander looked at her haggard appearance, with a bit of sweat on her forehead, then handed her the thermometer. "Try it."

Victoria immediately put it in her mouth without thinking.

Alexander stared at her lips and couldn't help but sigh.

Why did she think he was suddenly out early in the morning?

He would have kissed her, but when he touched her skin, he found it was very hot.

They had clearly slept together last night, so how did she get a fever?

He had to buy medicine, but she needed to eat before taking it.

Soon, he reached out to take the thermometer.

But he couldn't get it.

She didn't let go.

Alexander looked at her seriously. "Let go."

Suddenly, the atmosphere became a bit subtle.

The restaurant was so quiet that it made her a little embarrassed, and she immediately let go.

Alexander examined the thermometer and returned it to her.

Victoria couldn't see, so she grabbed it up.

It was 100.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

She did have a fever.

Victoria stared at the thermometer, suddenly forgetting everything.

"Eat first, then take the medicine." He saw her guilty and confused expression and calmly reminded her.

Victoria took a sip of sweet juice that was easy to drink.

"But how did you know I had a fever?" Victoria asked.

Victoria remembered him saying he went to the hospital due to her fever medicine's negative effects, but how did he know she had a fever?

Alexander looked at her and suddenly smiled helplessly.

Victoria didn't understand why he was smiling and asked, "Why are you smiling?"

"I'm smiling because you're so confused from the fever. We woke up in the same bed," Alexander explained.

Victoria blushed immediately, and she lowered her head to drink the juice quietly.

Alexander was still sitting next to her, taking a big bite of an English muffin.

But he didn't really want to eat the English muffin but make love with her.

"Did you think I went to see Isabella and got insanely jealous?" Alexander asked.

"No, I didn't," Victoria refuted regardless of her face color.

Alexander couldn't help but laugh.

If someone didn't care about their partner, they wouldn't act like this.

She clearly loved him deeply.

He hadn't forgotten she had already pledged her loyalty to him when she was drunk.

They finished the terrible breakfast.

Alexander went to pour her some water and handed the pill to her.

"Thank you." Victoria took it.

Alexander gazed at Victoria again when her warm, soft, heated fingertips touched his palm.

He initially thought his year-end goal was a large project, but it was her.

Completely winning over Victoria needed to be prioritized.

When she tilted her head to take the medicine, it made him itch with desire.

After breakfast, they proceeded to work, ignored subordinates' eyes, and led Victoria into the private elevator.

Victoria thought her heart was racing, and her countenance was odd due to the fever.

In the elevator, she couldn't help but look at his profile.

What was their relationship now?

Was he still insisting on having the wedding?

Was he really done with Isabella?

From now on, could she peacefully be his wife, the mother of his children, without disturbance of any other women or dangerous situations?

She wasn't confident.

When she looked down at their clasped hands, she asked, "Can you let go?"

"No." Alexander held on tighter.

Victoria's hand remained involuntary.

She was sorry for misinterpreting him this morning, but that didn't mean she had to cooperate with him.

She realized the most essential issue was that she still needed to feel more secure from Alexander.

The time to reach the top floor felt stiflingly long.

They seemed to be holding their breath.

Victoria uncomfortably watched the ascending numbers until the hand holding hers finally let go.

She was first puzzled, then relieved.

But within two seconds, her face was suddenly cupped.

The tall man stood in front of her, holding her feverish face, and pressed his lips to hers, quickly launching kisses.
