Chapter 801 He Was Exceptionally Calm

"Alright, I got it."

Alexander quickly hung up the phone and turned to Victoria, "You better not be in cahoots."

He still maintained a skeptical attitude.

Victoria, however, quietly breathed a sigh of relief, her arrogance from earlier diminished, and softly said, "Can you give me back my car keys?"

Alexander took out the car keys to give them to her but then thought for a moment, "Are you going back to Metro House? I'll take you."

She indeed needed to go back to Metro House.

In the following days, Alexander and Victoria rarely went out, but Victoria insisted on sleeping with Strawberry.

Finally, she started working normally. As soon as she got to the top floor, she was busy running around.

Alexander came up from downstairs just as her phone was ringing. He immediately walked over to pick it up, but before answering, he stared at the number for a moment.

He answered the call and silently put the phone to his ear.

"Hello, Ms. Kensington."

Alexander didn't make a sound, waiting for the other side to continue speaking.

But clearly, the person on the other end was very perceptive. Without a response from him, they quickly hung up.

After being hung up on, Alexander silently stared at the phone in his hand; his heart plummeted into a chilling abyss.

Victoria had deleted the contact name for that number. She did it on purpose, but Alexander had already memorized that number.

He put the phone back in its place and then went to his office.

Unexpectedly, on the first day back at work, an important document was stolen.

It was his divorce agreement.

If the divorce agreement was submitted to the court, the consequences were predictable.

Alexander slowly closed the drawer, appearing exceptionally calm on the surface.

Only he knew that he wasn't calm at all.

But clearly, being anxious now was pointless.

Victoria returned to her desk at eleven o'clock and instinctively checked for missed calls.

On her first day back at work, she was so busy that she was in a daze. Among the calls, she saw that number. Seeing it, she quickly tensed up and instinctively looked towards his office.

The Attorney's call had been answered by someone else.

She thought for a moment and decided to call the Attorney back first. Only then did she feel slightly relieved as she carried the documents to Alexander's office door.

"Come in."

After she knocked, a calm voice quickly came from inside.

Victoria was nervous but still pushed the door open and walked in, "Mr. Harrington, there are a few documents that need your signature."

Alexander, sitting behind his desk, didn't look up, busy with other documents.

When she approached, he directly reached out for the documents and opened them.

Victoria stood silently in front of him, feeling even more anxious.

She always felt he was holding back his anger.

Sitting there, he must have discovered that she had stolen the divorce agreement. So, what next?

She couldn't worry about that now. Once the divorce agreement was submitted, they would be declared divorced.

That's the result she wanted, and the Attorney said that, barring any surprises, it would happen soon.

Alexander carefully reviewed the documents, taking two minutes per document. With each one he signed, Victoria felt a bit more relieved.

But when he got to the last document, he didn't immediately let go. Victoria held her breath, staring straight at him.

Alexander glanced up at her, then let go.

"What are you still standing here for?"

Alexander asked her.

Victoria snapped back to reality, "Thank you, Mr. Harrington."

She quickly took the documents and walked out.

But at the door, she couldn't help but turn to look at him. Alexander was already engrossed in his original documents.

She opened the door and left, but once outside, she felt completely out of sorts.

He must have found out, but why didn't he mention it?

Victoria didn't know what he was thinking. She could only pray that the Attorney would have news soon.

But it was Governor's Day, and some departments weren't working.

So, the rest of her time would be even more torturous.

Before lunch, Alexander came out and stopped by her desk, "Want to grab lunch together?"

"No, I still have some things to finish."

"I'll be at the restaurant with Shoure."

Alexander said and then left.

Victoria lowered her head and continued working, but after he got into the elevator, she slowly stopped what she was doing.

He was too calm, as if he knew nothing.

After twelve, Olivia came to find her for lunch. She ate the lunch Olivia brought and listened to Olivia say, "I heard that Daisy was grounded by Jerome after being taken home that night. She was just let out today."

"Olivia."

"What's up?"

Olivia looked at her worried expression, puzzled.

"I wasn't buying desserts that night."

Victoria softly confessed.

Olivia thought for a while before remembering which night she was talking about, then looked at her directly, "And then?"

Olivia felt like something was wrong with Victoria.

"I came to the office building and took our divorce agreement."

"And then?"

Olivia was anxious. If Victoria came to take the divorce agreement, there seemed to be only one outcome.

"I gave it to the Attorney."

Victoria spoke calmly, but Olivia was still shocked.

Olivia didn't expect her to dare to do that.

Victoria lowered her head, "I don't want to be entangled with him anymore."

"The main point now is, does Alexander know about this?"

Olivia interrupted her.

"He should know. After we started work today... but he hasn't mentioned it."

"Don't panic yet; things might not turn out so bad."

Olivia couldn't focus on eating, her mind filled with thoughts of what Alexander would do once he knew.

"The first thing he should do is contact his lawyer, or even someone higher up, to stop anyone from handling your divorce case."

Olivia quickly made the correct guess.

Victoria suddenly realized that she had been so focused on guessing his feelings that she forgot to guess what he would do first.

"He can't obstruct the progress of the case."

Victoria remembered what the Attorney had said.

The Attorney was very reputable and had many influential people supporting him in the industry.

The Attorney said he would do his best, and Victoria had great confidence in him.

"He's Alexander; he can do anything."

Olivia said.

Victoria slowly looked up at her.

"But Victoria, do you want a divorce? Regardless of your personal feelings, do you know that after your divorce, Strawberry will be a child from a single-parent family?"

Olivia felt there was still room for things to improve.

"If we force ourselves to stay together, seeing us unhappy every day, Strawberry will be unhappy too as she grows up."

Victoria explained.

Compared to her parents divorcing but still loving her, being locked in a house with no smiles was much worse.

Victoria knew this well, so she never hesitated because of Strawberry.

Happiness was something one sought for himself. They couldn't let unhappy things close them off before they even had a chance to be happy.

In the restaurant's private room, Alexander said, "Tell Charles to start work early."
