Chapter 965 Shuttle

Ankenra City.

That night, Alexander was called to the club by Edward and Benjamin.

"Did you have another fight with Tori?"

Benjamin asked curiously.

The three of them sat inside, puzzled by Alexander's gloominess.

Alexander was preoccupied and unhappy.

He shook his head slightly, holding his phone, wanting to message Victoria but afraid that too many messages would make him seem childish.

He had already sent quite a few messages today, more than enough to seem like an immature young man in love.

Even he thought he was being immature.

But that dream continued to trouble him.

Before coming back, he had given Frank some instructions and had arranged for people to secretly protect Victoria, but bad things always happen unexpectedly.

He thought of a recent news story about a girl who was stabbed eight times while walking down the street and died on the spot.

"But you look worried?"

Benjamin probed, trying to get an answer from Alexander.

Alexander gave a self-deprecating smile and said softly, "I had a dream."

Benjamin and Edward stared intently at Alexander.

Dreams could be the result of overthinking or could be a premonition.

The two didn't ask any more questions; if it had been a good dream, Alexander wouldn't look so sad.

Alexander didn't stay long before leaving, saying he wanted to video call Victoria.

Benjamin and Edward stayed because they had just ordered food. Edward asked, "Alexander seems like a different person lately."

"Why do you say that?"

Benjamin looked at Edward curiously.

Edward, holding his drink, pondered and remarked, "He used to be apart from Victoria before, and he would visit her every weekend, but this time, Alexander seems particularly focused, like he's put everything else aside."

"He's changed a lot. Maybe he really wants Victoria to come back." Benjamin chimed in.

Alexander was never one to express himself much, and now he spoke even less.

Benjamin thought, 'Alexander must not want Victoria to stay in Elysium Country forever; he wants to bring her back, but Victoria...'

Tessa said Victoria had a wound in her heart, a wound that couldn't heal and kept festering.

That kind of wound sometimes seemed to be getting better, but if it was accidentally touched or got a bit wet, it would start festering again.

As long as Victoria's heart wound didn't heal, she wouldn't come back, and Alexander would always be worried about her.

In fact, neither of them was doing well.

Because every brief meeting meant another separation.

Benjamin and Edward had both experienced long separations and knew how hard it was to endure, but perhaps because of their age, Benjamin didn't say much more. He raised his glass and toasted Edward.

Alexander went home but didn't get into their big bed until late at night, ready to video call Victoria.

"It's very late there, isn't it? Why aren't you asleep?"

"I miss you."

Alexander smiled at the video of Victoria drying her long hair.

Victoria's face warmed, and she moved a bit away from the camera, "But my hair isn't dry yet."

"Never mind, you dry your hair, I'll just watch you."

"I'm thinking of cutting my hair shorter so it dries faster."

She said before turning on the hairdryer again.

"Don't cut it."

He said, even though she couldn't hear him.

She didn't have to dry her hair herself. When she had just started the video, he saw her wet hair and wanted to help her dry it, but they were too far apart.

So far that even if he got on a plane right now, her hair would be dry by the time he saw her.

He missed her so much it hurt.

Victoria dried her hair mostly and came back to the phone, saying softly, "I'm here."

"Tori."

"What is it?"

"I miss you."

Through the phone, they looked deeply and intently at each other. The room fell silent, and their longing for each other quickly filled the air.

"I miss you so much."
