Chapter 401 Easily Touched
"Alexander, you said you wouldn't make things difficult for me."
She lowered her gaze, pretending to be a spoiled woman.
Alexander turned off the stove and handed her a plate filled with bread slices. "Take it to the table."
Victoria looked up at him, thinking, 'Does he even hear what I say?
'He is completely ignoring me.'
Victoria had no choice but to take it over first.
But when she turned back, she saw him coming out with two cups of milk.
"I added some sugar," Alexander reminded her.
Victoria felt warm in her heart. She knew it was a glass of milk the moment she took it. She couldn’t be angry with him anymore.
"Thank you."
She still politely thanked him, although she was still unhappy about other things.
"Sit down and eat. Isn't it uncomfortable to be hungry during your period? You will feel bad," Alexander said.
Victoria's eyes welled up with tears again.
If Alexander continued to be so considerate to her all day, her defenses would soon crumble.
She felt like crying now, thinking, 'How can he treat me so nicely like this.'
Last night, he gave her tiramisu and now bread and milk.
"Before we eat, let me make it clear. I do this not because of other women, but because when I was a child, I traveled with my mom and sister, and they taught me."
Victoria looked at the man sitting across from her, who was serious and dignified, and quickly lowered her eyes. She didn't say anything but picked a piece of bread. It was the most burnt one that he had fried.
But before she could pick it up, Alexander's fork pressed down on it, and Victoria looked up at him in confusion.
"I'm kidding. I wouldn't let you really eat this!" Alexander said.
Victoria's eyes instantly turned red, thinking, 'This damn bastard, why is he suddenly playing the role of a tender and caring lover? Bring back that eagerness he had when he first returned, pushing me to sign the divorce papers! I haven't forgotten how ruthless he can be.'
Alexander stared at her and quickly realized that she was easily moved.
With that in mind, some things would be easier.
---
It was lunchtime at the restaurant.
Alexander, Edward, Olivia, and Benjamin were together. Alexander said, "I have proposed."
Three surprised faces appeared.
"But she didn't agree." Alexander laughed awkwardly.
"Has she agreed to announce the time of your wedding to the public?" Olivia asked curiously.
"In fact, she didn't agree either," Alexander replied.
He wanted to laugh even more, thinking, 'I am really pathetic, living to such an age but not being able to handle a woman.'
"But whether she agrees or not, you must have the wedding and publicize it widely, right?" Benjamin asked him.
"I am determined to have this wedding," Alexander replied with unwavering determination, holding his cup.
Edward asked him, "Is there a possibility that the bride might be changed?"
Alexander immediately shot him a look.
"I met Isabella this morning. She cut her hair short, similar to mine."
Edward touched his hair.
"To be honest, at first, we all suspected that she was pretending to be sick to win you over," Benjamin reminded.
Alexander remained silent, feeling a bit annoyed.
"Alexander, are you really sure she has no chance?" Benjamin asked again.
"Hey, what's wrong with men? Not sided with the spouse, but sided with a third party?" Olivia looked at the two men beside her in confusion.
"The key is that Alexander is not sure if he has fallen in love with Victoria, and they don't really know each other. With the situation escalating now, what if they get divorced in the future?" Edward asked.
"You are absolutely right! Maybe Mr. Harrington's heart belongs to Isabella, and maybe Victoria loves Adrian? With things escalating like this, what if you get divorced in the future?"
As Olivia spoke, she looked at Alexander.
"It's possible. Otherwise, why wouldn't Victoria agree to the wedding? This is like endless wealth and status in front of her. The only reason is that she has fallen in love with Adrian, who owns all these things as well," Edward said.
Alexander sighed in annoyance, but with certainty, he said, "She won't."
