Chapter 462 Please Spare My Family

As Janaye pushed open the door, the chef personally brought in lunch.

Janaye stated Victoria was here today, so they added two more plates to his customary fare.

After everyone departed, only the two of them ate on the sofa in the lounge.

Victoria put broccoli in her mouth while Alexander put it on her plate.

Victoria instantly lost her appetite and just stared at him blankly.

Why was he serving her food?

She wasn't a child.

Victoria's heart raced wildly, whispering, "Thank you."

Alexander glanced at her without saying anything, but he didn't serve her any more food.

Victoria quietly finished the food she had taken herself and then ate the piece of broccoli he had given her.

That was his fork.

She couldn't help but glance at it.

Alexander asked her, "Serve me a slice if you're uncomfortable."

He even pushed his plate forward.

Victoria looked at him and smiled. "No, it's not that."

She lowered her head and continued eating gracefully.

Alexander watched her eat, not knowing why, but it made him hungry, especially with the wedding ring on her finger.

In the evening, Victoria was going to treat Janaye. After work, Alexander walked over to ask if she wanted to go together. When he was refused, he had to go alone. However, before leaving, Alexander reminded her, "Call the driver to pick you up."

"Got it," Victoria replied.

In the evening, Shoure, Janaye, and Victoria dined together at an Italian restaurant. Shoure suddenly said, "By the way, Dorian broke five fingers, and his upper arm is also fractured."

"What? So serious?" Janaye said in surprise, thinking that he must be in a lot of pain.

"Who allowed him to bully the wrong person? Is it right, Mrs. Harrington?" Shoure said, raising his glass to Victoria.

Victoria also raised her glass and clinked it lightly with his, then said, "Anyway, I have to thank you both for your timely help this afternoon, or it could have been my hand that was broken."

"These people are indeed quite perverted, very good at bullying young girls. So next time you encounter them, it's best to avoid them and not stop, in case they find an excuse to take you away."

Shoure reminded Victoria and also reminded Janaye drinking wine beside him.

Janaye looked foolish, and although people stopped her from saying anything, she immediately went back and said it.

She saved Victoria, but they may remember her, so she should be careful.

"But why did they bully Victoria? We're just secretaries." Janaye was still puzzled.

"Why? Naturally, because Victoria stole Dorian's son-in-law," Shoure said.

"But clearly, Victoria married Mr. Harrington first. Isabella chased him out of town herself. If anyone's stealing, it's her stealing Victoria's man," said Janaye, indignant to it.

"But for the Montgomery Family, Victoria stole their excellent son-in-law," Shoure mimicked her tone.

They finished dinner around ten and then parted.

Shoure took Janaye home, while Victoria was driven back to Rockland Street.

But as soon as she reached the entrance of the community, someone was waiting there.

Isabella saw their car and walked directly towards it.

Some people, filming her, followed Isabella.

"Mrs. Harrington, should we call someone?" The driver asked.

"We don't need to bother. Just keep driving in," Victoria replied.

"Yes." The driver continued to drive in.

Isabella didn't expect her not to stop and immediately tried to chase after them, but the driver's car slowly drove in while Isabella was stopped by the security at the entrance.

It was drizzling outside, and Isabella suddenly shouted towards the inside, "Victoria, I was wrong. I shouldn't have kept in touch with Alexander after you got married. I shouldn't have wanted more of his care before I died. I beg you tospare my family, okay?"

Isabella shouted and suddenly started crying.

The person was still filming.

After the driver parked inside, the window cracked open, allowing Victoria to hear the yelling outside.

Since someone liked to twist the truth, she might as well go along with Isabella's wishes.

"Let's go," Victoria said calmly.

The rain outside was getting heavier. The driver was about to drive forward when he suddenly said, "Mrs. Harrington, that looks like Mr. Harrington's car."

Victoria glanced out the window. Sitting in the back, she couldn't see without turning around.

But there were indeed headlights shining through the rain.

The car stopped outside the gate, and soon, someone got out.

Victoria saw the person walking around to Isabella's side—it was Alexander's driver.

The driver took Isabella into the car and then drove away.

The person filming also disappeared.

Victoria's pulse was thumping, and she couldn't recover from the shock even after returning home.

Why would Alexander's driver pick up Isabella?

Victoria held her phone, thinking of his tender words and looks and attentive actions as he said he wanted to spend his life with her.

After kissing her that day, did he pick up Isabella?

He had clearly told Isabella so decisively in front of her.

'Could there be some misunderstanding?' Victoria's heart was in turmoil. She looked down at her phone and opened it.

She thought, 'I should call and ask directly.'

After all, he had complained before that she hadn't called him once in two years.

But with the thunderstorm outside growing louder, she was both unwilling and afraid.

What if he was comforting Isabella right now? What would she do then?

She had already suffered so much for falling in love with him first. Should she take another step forward now?

But what if it was a deep abyss or paradise ahead?

With the hand clutching her phone, Victoria stood by the window, stroking her chin as her thoughts went back to the moment when he had cleaned her mouth earlier in the day. She also considered how he had held and protected her so tenderly in that private room.

He had let everyone know she was his wife, but he couldn't be doing it to secretly be with Isabella.

She didn't know how long she thought about it, but she finally dialed the number.

Alexander's phone was answered late, and the voice on the other end was weak, "Hello? Victoria?"

Victoria's hand trembled as she held the phone, and she couldn't make a sound.

Her eyelashes quivered as she slowly took the phone away from her ear.

Why was it Isabella's voice?

It couldn't be. Alexander had just hit Isabella's father, and that bastard had just humiliated his wife with others. What was he doing?

Victoria couldn't believe it and fell into a vicious cycle again.

She put the phone aside, then turned it off and went to wash up and sleep.

She silently vowed, 'Without work, I would never call him again.'

He was too cruel.

She held back her heartache and entered the bathroom, but inexplicably, tears started to fall.

She clenched her fists and stepped under the shower.

Without taking off her clothes, she turned on the water.

When cold water poured directly over her head, she bowed her head, gasping for breath, trying to calm down quickly.

Alexander wasn't worth her tears.

Thinking of Alexander, who once loved her so much, she quickly turned the knob, and soon hot water was flowing.

She felt uncomfortable and slowly squatted down on the ground.

She had clearly given up, so why did she pick it up again?

'That bastard.' She cursed in her heart.

She buried her head in her arms and gave herself a feeble hug before she could cry, regretting everything. "Mom and Dad, I'm sorry."
