Chapter 835 The Way You Love Is Quite Special
The sound of a chair toppling over and someone falling to the ground suddenly rang out.
Adrian was stunned for a while, then lay on the ground with a smile.
Even though blood was trickling from the corner of his mouth, he didn't seem to feel any pain.
"Alexander, what are you doing?"
Victoria was stunned. Seeing Alexander still advancing, she immediately went over to push him away, but Alexander grabbed her wrist, glanced at her, and then looked at Adrian. "Our Harrington family doesn't have men like you who self-harm."
Adrian felt deeply hurt by his words. He had always wanted Victoria to be happy, but now, in Victoria's heart, was he the same as Alexander?
After saying this, Alexander pulled Victoria away. He couldn't stand Adrian pretending to be pitiful in front of Victoria.
At this moment, Daisy suddenly stood up, "Mr. Harrington."
Eve and Janaye were still standing there, silently looking at Daisy.
Alexander also suddenly stopped.
Seeing him stop, Victoria immediately pushed his hand away and turned to help Adrian, "Adi, are you okay?"
How many times had she called him Alex?
But she called Adrian Adi every day.
Alexander felt a pang in his heart but only said indifferently, "Come with me."
Victoria looked up at him, "Sorry, Mr. Harrington, this is my off-duty time."
Alexander looked at her and then smiled, "Then just wait for him to disappear from Ankenra City."
After saying this, Alexander strode away.
Seeing Alexander leave without looking back at her, Daisy quickly circled the chairs and followed him.
Victoria and Eve helped Adrian up. Adrian struggled to speak, "If you don't go with him, he'll get angry and torment you again."
"If you knew that, why did you say those things?"
Adrian suddenly fell silent.
Victoria slowly let go of him, without any temper, and said with a gentle smile, "You brothers have a very special way of loving someone."
After Victoria left, Eve immediately followed her. Seeing her idol Adrian sad, Janaye couldn't help but step forward and say, "Addie, you need to pull yourself together, but don't take advantage of a woman's kindness, or you'll only disappoint her."
Adrian looked at Janaye. His emotions suddenly became a tangled mess.
Had he disappointed Victoria?
In the late afternoon, close to the end of the workday, Victoria entered the office, "Mr. Harrington, you wanted to see me?"
Hearing the title "Mr. Harrington," Alexander smiled with his tongue pressed against his back teeth and nodded, "Yes, I wanted to see you."
Without looking up, he quickly finished reading the document in his hand, signed it, closed it, and tossed it aside. Then he leaned back and shot a sharp glance at her.
Victoria stood diagonally across from him, quietly waiting for his instructions.
Alexander remembered Edward saying that bosses and their secretaries easily develop ambiguous feelings, but at this moment, he only felt a chill in his heart.
His dear secretary was also his wife, but now look at Victoria, she could get as far away from him as possible.
He sighed with a heavy heart, and William's words flashed through his mind: women need to be coaxed.
He said softly, "Have a seat, let's talk."
"Business or personal?"
Victoria asked, considering his words.
Alexander couldn't help but stare at her after her question, "What do you mean?"
"If it's business, please go ahead; I can stand."
"And if it's personal?"
He knew she always kept business and personal matters separate, but he hated how she drew the line.
"If it's personal, sorry, I don't think we have anything to talk about."
They had tried to talk too many times in the past, but it never worked out.
"Nothing to talk about?"
"You can unilaterally void the agreement we signed, what else can't you decide on your own?"
Alexander fell silent, but his expression was particularly stern.
Victoria, however, just nodded like a good subordinate, "If you have nothing else, I'll be going."
"Victoria, do you know why I hit him?"
Alexander took a deep breath and called out to her before she could leave.
Victoria stopped and turned her head.
In truth, she no longer wanted to know about the matters between the brothers.
After all, they were both so smart; what was a fool like her doing trying to navigate between them?
"Sorry, I'm not interested."
She said this, opened the door and left.
A strong sense of defeat suddenly welled up in Alexander's heart.
The coldness on her face seemed to be all related to him.
She wasn't even willing to listen to him anymore.
Did something have to change between them?
But they hadn't been together for long, and she was already starting to resent him.
In the evening, Victoria was taken back to Metro House first, and Alexander returned half an hour later.
"Mr. Harrington is back."
"Has Victoria returned?"
"Yes, she has."
Mason followed Alexander, taking his coat.
But as Alexander approached the living room, he stopped and, seeing only Maximus sitting on the sofa, asked, "Where's Victoria?"
Mason glanced at the living room, immediately understanding Alexander's thoughts, and replied, "Mrs. Victoria Harrington is in Mrs. Eloise Harrington's room playing chess with her."
Hearing this, Alexander visibly relaxed a bit and continued walking inside with long strides.
Maximus, seeing Alexander return and sit beside him, felt comforted that Alexander wasn't too anxious. He asked, "Victoria is playing chess with your grandmother. Aren't you going to check on them?"
"No need."
Alexander pretended to be calm as he looked at the news on the TV.
Maximus, however, thought to himself that while Alexander said there was no need, his heart had already flown to that room.
Alexander's stubbornness was just like Arabella's when she was young.
He loved Victoria deeply but never knew how to express it.
"Stop using Daisy to upset Victoria."
Maximus suddenly said.
Alexander's expression darkened upon hearing this. He then looked up at Maximus and asked with a smile, "Did she come back to complain?"
"She didn't say anything, but you had lunch with Daisy at the restaurant next to your company, a place where many of your employees gather. How could I not know?"Maximus asked.
Alexander felt a bit disappointed after understanding this.
He liked it when Victoria complained.
Alexander felt a bit bitter but then seriously asked, "Then you must have also heard about my fight with Adrian?"
"I don't meddle much in your issues with Adi."
Maximus thought Alexander handled this better than he did back in the day.
He had always regretted being separated from his brother for so many years.
Hearing Maximus's words, Alexander finally felt a bit more at ease.
Before dinner, Victoria, Eloise, Arabella, and Brett all came out of the room. Eloise was happily saying, "I told you I could win, and Victoria didn't lose on purpose."
"Grandma, I didn't lose on purpose this time."
Victoria played along.
Eloise was even happier, "Exactly if you had lost on purpose, would we have played for so long? It would have ended much sooner."
As soon as Arabella came out, she saw Alexander and Maximus in the living room. Knowing about the incident at noon, she looked at Alexander with some displeasure and said softly, "I heard you hit Adi?"
Alexander instinctively glanced at Victoria.
"I heard it from Penelope; she was upstairs meeting a client at the time," Arabella said directly. "Penelope had also mentioned that young people's love these days was impulsive."
Alexander, however, didn't take his eyes off Victoria's face.
Victoria, holding Eloise's arm, kept her head down and didn't meet his gaze.
Alexander suddenly said, "We need to talk."
Everyone looked at Alexander in surprise.
But after standing up, Alexander simply walked over to Victoria. Without any eye contact, he firmly took her hand and led her out of the living room.
