Chapter 971 You Will Die a Miserable Death

Since Curtis didn't dare to like her.

He no longer had to make jello or prepare meals for her. He should find a woman who suit him.

Moreover, Curtis should either admit he loves her, continue dating her, and then get married, or they should completely part ways.

Everything should have an ending.

Victoria and Alexander were like this, and so were she and Curtis.

Even though Diana was infatuated with Curtis's handsomeness, his vast knowledge, and his meticulous and gentle nature, she thought they might really be incompatible.

She wanted a very brave man.

That man should not only be someone she admired in certain aspects, but should be someone whose life views were most admirable to her.

So Diana returned to the Harrington Mansion to accompany her elders and help take care of Strawberry.

Strawberry was growing up day by day, and occasionally blurted out the word "mom." Diana felt heartbroken hearing it and softly said, "I will love you just like your mom did."

Diana even thought that if something really happened to Victoria, she would always protect Strawberry and love her like Victoria did.

She heard that even Victoria's bodyguard Eve had a miscarriage, which showed how formidable the people who kidnapped Victoria were.

Arabella noticed that Diana hadn't gone out for a week and was only staying home to take care of Strawberry, so she asked Diana, "Didi, why haven't you been going out lately?"

"I have anything to do recently, so I plan to take a break for a while."

Diana focused solely on feeding Strawberry.

Arabella walked over and sat next to Diana. She wiped Strawberry's mouth and then slowly said to Diana, "If you're feeling upset, just tell me. Don't bottle up your emotions."

"Okay."

Diana agreed, thought for a moment, then turned to look at Arabella and said with a smile, "Mom, I'm not unhappy."

"You moved to live near the university, and you think I don't know anything?" Arabella said.

The Harrington family has donated a lot to the local university, so they have connections there. It was easy for Arabella to find out which staff member lived in that neighborhood.

When she saw Curtis's photo, she had a feeling he was the one making Diana unhappy.

"Let me be clear, when you were younger, I did think about you marrying someone with similar conditions to our family. But now, at your age, especially after going through some things, I just want you to marry someone you like."

Diana looked at Arabella with doubt.

This didn't sound like Arabella at all.

"What I mean is, even if he's just a university professor, I can accept that."

Seeing Diana confused, Arabella had to make it clearer.

Diana's eyes immediately welled up with tears, and she threw herself into Arabella's arms, "Mom."

"Diana, as long as you truly love each other, we will support you, understand?"

Arabella thought that maybe times have changed, and so have the concepts of dating. Besides, the Harrington family was so strong, what was there to fear?

Diana was grateful for her parents' understanding, but this was no longer what she wanted.

She wanted Curtis to take that step himself.

If Curtis couldn't overcome his inner obstacles, then he didn't deserve to be her husband.

"Do you have time to bring Curtis over to our house?"

Arabella asked softly.

Diana didn't speak but shook her head.

Arabella then realized something was wrong and asked, "Do you need me to talk to him?"

"No, Mom, just let everything take its course. Right now, the most important thing is to take good care of Grandma and Strawberry. Mom, I really like Strawberry. If I don't have children in the future, Strawberry will be my child."

"I don't like hearing that. Even if you have your children, would you stop loving Strawberry? She's so adorable."

Arabella held Strawberry on her lap, and the more she looked at Strawberry, the more she liked her.

But when Arabella thought of Victoria, her heart ached so much that she couldn't smile.

Victoria had had a lot of misfortunes.

Now, the only wish of the whole family was that Victoria was still alive and that they could find her.

Where did Victoria go?

What kind of torture did she endure?

These are memories that no one can recollect, nor do they wish to.

Eloise was so traumatized this time that she eventually collapsed, constantly thinking about what Victoria went through to save her. She feared Victoria would go through it again. How could Victoria's tiny frame endure the beatings and torture from those scumbags?

That year, it was because of the Harrington family's repeated invitations that the Kensington family returned to the country.

Arabella looked at Strawberry and noticed that Strawberry had some of Victoria's features. Those big eyes with a gentle glow were exactly like Victoria's.

Arabella recalled when Victoria came back to meet her at the age of twenty. Victoria was well-educated, gentle, and lovely, truly adored by everyone.

Arabella called Alexander, and when he picked up, his voice was hoarse. She felt heartbroken and softly asked, "Don't wear yourself out before you find Victoria."

"I'm fine." Alexander tried to make his voice heard.

"You must take care of yourself. Strawberry and Victoria are waiting for you, and our whole family is counting on you."

Arabella said this with tears in her eyes.

Victoria suffered, and so did Alexander.

"I'm really fine. Do you need something?" Alexander asked again.

"I wanted to ask if you have any news about Victoria."

Arabella felt a bit guilty. Hearing Alexander's weak voice, she was only worried about him.

"I'll call if I have any news. Please take good care of Strawberry."

Only if they took good care of Strawberry would Victoria be reassured when she came home.

"Of course, Strawberry is your treasure and the treasure of our whole family."

Arabella hung up the phone, and Diana asked, "What did Alexander say?"

"He said to take good care of Strawberry."

"And what about Victoria?"

Diana asked anxiously about Victoria.

Compared to Victoria, her issues with Curtis seemed insignificant.

She wanted to confirm Victoria's safety more than anything.

But Arabella's shake of the head confirmed her suspicions. She didn't ask further, but a person suddenly came to her mind.

Meanwhile, a group of people suddenly barged into the Cook family home.

Elliot was not at home, and Daisy was stunned to see the intruders. "Who are you? What do you want? I'm calling the police."

No one paid attention to her. Soon, she was pushed onto the sofa, her arm gripped tightly. "Tell me, did you have someone kidnap Mrs. Harrington?"

"What?"

Daisy looked panicked.

"Mrs. Harrington was kidnapped by you. If you confess now, you might have a chance to live."

The man opened a knife and pressed it against Daisy's delicate face.

Daisy was so scared she almost screamed. Feeling the cold blade on her skin, she held back, fearing that a scream would drive the knife into her face.

"You better not play any tricks, or you'll die a horrible death, understand?"

"What are you talking about? I don't understand a word."

Daisy said, trembling.

"You don't understand?"

The man pressed the knife down the side of her face, and blood oozed from her tender skin.
