Chapter 132 How Much Longer Do You Want to Be Tormented

Adrian knelt down, his sudden action arresting the attention of both Arabella and Old Lady Harrington. Victoria, too, swiveled her head in his direction, her gaze filled with curiosity.

He reached out, taking her hand in his. "Grandmother, Aunt," he began, his voice steady, "I love Vicky. I want to be with her."

The room fell silent, the two elder women taken aback by his confession.

"My cousin had planned to divorce upon his return," Adrian continued, his gaze never leaving Victoria's. "I intended to wait until they were separated before revealing my feelings. But his change of heart... it's caused distress for both Vicky and me. We need your help."

His plea hung in the air, heavy with sincerity. Arabella glanced at the intertwined hands of Victoria and Adrian, uncertainty clouding her features.

The quiet was broken by the measured cadence of footsteps approaching from outside. Victoria's eyes flickered at the sound. It was him. She didn't need to turn around to confirm; she just knew.

"Ah, Alex, you've returned too?" Old Lady Harrington's voice held a note of relief as Alexander entered the room.

Alexander strode up to Victoria, his command simple and direct. "Get up."

Victoria lifted her gaze to meet his, and he extended a hand to help her rise. Adrian, too, rose to his feet. "Alex, please let her go."

Alexander's response was a challenging whisper. "Who do you think you are?" He turned to Victoria, his question hanging in the air between them. "Do you have feelings for him?"

Victoria met his gaze, a familiar conversation circling back around. His grip on her wrist was firm, causing her to instinctively twist, trying to pull away.

"Answer me," he commanded, taking hold of her other wrist. His eyes bore into hers, a vast abyss she felt herself being drawn into.

"Of course she does," Adrian interjected, his voice steady. "That's why we hope you'd let her go sooner."

Alexander's gaze never wavered from Victoria. "You told me you didn't like him, that you're just friends. You remember, don't you?"

Victoria's vision blurred. She had thought he had forgotten.

"Vicky," Adrian's voice broke through her thoughts, his tone urgent. "You've already missed the time to clock in for work. Do you want to come back to the office with me?"

Victoria froze.

"There’s a deal to be signed today, think it over," he added.

Victoria's mind raced. That's right, there was a multi-billion-dollar deal on the table today. She had been so rattled that morning, she had forgotten everything.

Victoria looked at Alexander, her voice barely above a whisper. "What about the divorce?"

"I'll give you the answer you want after we sign the contract," Alexander replied, his tone earnest. "Get back to work. We'll talk about personal matters after."

Arabella, having overheard the conversation, also urged her on. Victoria hesitated, then turned to Adrian. His face fell at her indecision. "How much longer do you want to be tormented?"

"Grandmother, could you please agree to our—" Adrian began, but was cut off by Old Lady Harrington.

"Oh dear, I can't take it anymore, I'm feeling so dizzy. Get my blood pressure medicine, quick!" she cried out, her hand clutching her forehead.

"Someone! Hurry with Old Lady Harrington's blood pressure medicine!" Arabella echoed, her voice filled with concern.

Victoria's heart pounded in her chest. Alexander, seeing her fear, gently suggested, "Let's go now. Let grandmother rest."

"Go on, you all. Adrian, you stay," Old Lady Harrington commanded, her eyes closed as she waved Victoria and Alexander away.
