Chapter 501 No One Would Look for Her Even If She Died
"Alright," Alexander said.
"Can I call back now and say that?" Victoria asked.
She thought, 'Why should I guess wildly? I already got Alexander's answer, and it's enough. I don't even care if the answer is true, as long as it comes from his mouth.'
"Okay." Alexander raised his hand and gently stroked her cheek.
This time, Victoria didn't avoid his touch. After getting his confirmation, she stood by his side and dialed the number again.
The other party answered quickly, and then Victoria said, "Today is the day Alexander and I are trying on wedding dresses. This is just a coincidence created by someone with an agenda. I hope you report the truth."
After Victoria finished speaking, she looked up at Alexander and found him looking at her, too.
But this time, she didn't guess whether he was happy. She only knew she had to do what she thought was right.
Isabella's appearance and kiss in the afternoon were, in her heart, deliberately done for Victoria to see.
Victoria knew exactly what Isabella wanted, but Alexander didn't.
"From now on, you can always make the right decisions based on your own thoughts," Alexander said.
"I hope you won't be angry then," Victoria responded, looking at Alexander reaching for her hair.
Alexander lowered his eyes and saw her stubborn gaze. He slowly cupped the back of her head and pressed her against his chest.
Victoria's heart pounded like thunder, but she stiffened her neck, unwilling to cooperate, and was still pressed there.
Soon, her forehead, through the thin fabric of his shirt, felt his warm body temperature and strong heartbeat.
Her eyes suddenly welled up with tears.
Despite her cold demeanor, Victoria couldn't completely disregard Alexander's emotions. After all, he was the only man she had ever loved.
She was just about to break down from the entanglement between the three of them. At times, it felt like they were entangled with an entire web of people.
Isabella had the Montgomery Family as her backing, but Victoria only had herself.
Victoria's parents, due to their professions, were not in Alexander's circle and were looked down upon by some people. While she found some support online, many critics argued that her background made her an unsuitable match for Alexander.
Besides, Alexander never gave her a sense of security.
He just took her heart, but where did he intend to place it?
Would he treasure it, or just leave it somewhere after getting it?
She could never guess his thoughts and didn't want to guess anymore.
These days, she had been really exhausting.
However, at this moment, Alexander held Victoria completely in his embrace.
It was different from before.
It was like the most comforting and relaxing hug between lovers.
Victoria couldn't help but lift her hand and gently pinch the fabric at Alexander's waist.
She even wanted to hug him tightly, but she was afraid this beautiful moment would be quickly broken.
Since meeting him, she gradually understood some things.
Don't think a man liked her just because he smiled at her.
Don't think he favored her just because he agreed to marry her.
These could all just be politeness.
An hour later, Starlight Media released a piece of news—#The CEO of the Harrington Group Accompanied His Wife to Try on Wedding Dresses#
The photo in the news was of Alexander helping Victoria carry her wedding dress into the store, beautiful and romantic.
Even Victoria herself felt it was unreal when she held the photo.
Alexander had taken it out from his pocket and given it to her, asking her to send it to the person in charge of Starlight Media.
As the news spread more and more online, Isabella sit in the living room, drank red wine, and turned on the TV.
Naomi came back from outside, suppressing her temper, and saw the wine on the table. She immediately threw her bag on the sofa, bent down to pick up Isabella's empty wine glass and the red wine, filled the glass, and immediately drank a large glass.
Isabella laughed. "What's wrong with you? Did you argue with Dad again?"
"Did you contact Timothy again?" Naomi shot back.
"What?" Isabella was stunned.
"Are you crazy? Don't you want to marry Alexander?" Naomi yelled.
"What does that have to do with it?" Isabella was confused.
"The internet is full of gossip cursing you. Do you think it has nothing to do with it?" Naomi said angrily.
Isabella started looking for her phone everywhere. 'Cursing me? Shouldn't the netizens be congratulating me and Alexander on our upcoming wedding?' she thought.
She had sent that photo to the biggest media company in the city.
"You don't know yet?" Naomi realized Isabella was slow to react.
Isabella found her phone in the kitchen, turned it on while walking to the living room, and was in disbelief when she saw all the information about her. She collapsed on the sofa.
"They almost exposed my scandals, too. Isabella, what are you doing? Are you sure you can get Alexander? Besides getting this house when you were pregnant, what else have you gotten?" Naomi scolded.
"Impossible." Isabella continued scrolling through the comments. She didn't believe everyone would say that about her.
'Calling me a mistress? Do these uneducated bumpkins even know what a mistress is? A bunch of trash,' Isabella cursed in her heart.
Her hand holding the phone started to tremble, and she had to use both hands to hold it.
"You couldn't even get Alexander to care about you with a terminal illness like leukemia. Isabella, does he even care about you? You grew up together, and you said you knew him well. What's going on?" Naomi asked.
"Don't ask me. I..." Isabella froze as she finally saw that photo, which showed Alexander helping Victoria with her dress at the studio.
Isabella thought to herself, 'Did Victoria misunderstand us and run away at that time? Did Alexander bring her back? No, definitely not. Alexander is such a proud person. How could he chase after a woman who ran away? It must be Victoria who couldn't bear to lose a wealthy life, so she ran back. How could Alexander still be willing to accept such a woman? Shouldn't he have told Victoria to get lost? However, he actually helped her with her dress.'
Isabella couldn't even see the words under the photo clearly. She only knew she was scrolling down, and every piece of information had that photo.
She shouted in her heart, 'Where are the photos of Alexander and me? I had someone secretly take photos and sent them to the media. Why isn't there a single one?'
However, Isabella's phone was full of photos of Alexander and Victoria, even their marriage certificate was found.
Isabella's disbelief caused her to drop her phone, which she then kicked away in frustration.
Naomi watched Isabella's actions and asked, "What are you doing?"
"The phone is broken," Isabella said, then got up and walked out.
"Where are you going?" Naomi felt something was wrong.
Isabella turned her head at the door and said to Naomi, "I'm going to find Alexander. There must be a misunderstanding."
"The light upstairs is on, but did you forget you can't go up there?" Naomi said.
"I can find Edward or Benjamin. I can ask them to help me go up. There's a misunderstanding between Alexander and me. I know it. Alexander must have known I contacted Timothy, so he went to chase Victoria. He's mad at me," Isabella insisted.
Isabella's eyes were already blurry, but her heart was very stubborn.
"Did you really contact Mr. Reed? Do you know that now everyone outside is saying Mrs. Reed announced at the Westside party that no one should associate with you anymore?" Naomi shouted.
"What?" Isabella froze.
"You just break up with Mr. Reed and focus on pursuing Alexander. Dorian and I will help you get rid of that Victoria," Naomi said.
"Get rid of?" Isabella asked.
"Yes. We have discussed it. At worst, we'll just make Victoria disappear. She has no family, and no one will look for her if she dies," Naomi replied.
