Chapter 527 He Said, "I'm Married."
Felicity could drive like a pro.
Alexander had no clue her next gig was playing a bossy heiress with killer driving skills. Dennis had been drilling her for a while now.
Alexander just stood there, watching Felicity nail the scene. She got out of the car, and Dennis was chatting her up. She listened, then glanced up.
Their eyes met. Her look was cool, but she quickly flashed him a smile.
"Isn't that Mr. Harrington?" Felicity said to Dennis.
Dennis followed her gaze. He didn't expect a big shot like that to show up here.
"Let's go say hi," Felicity suggested.
"Yeah, we should," Dennis agreed, eyeing Alexander like he was a walking goldmine but trying to play it cool.
Dennis took a few steps, then turned back. "You too."
"Me? You said I wouldn't have to schmooze," Felicity protested.
"Quit whining." Dennis grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward Alexander.
Alexander kept a poker face, staring at where they were linked, only looking up when they got close.
Dennis thought this CEO looked tough, but if he was here, he must be approachable. "Hello, Mr. Harrington. I'm Felicity's agent, Dennis."
Felicity glanced at Dennis, then at Alexander.
"Hi, let's talk somewhere else," Alexander said, hands in his pockets, not bothering with a handshake, and walked off.
In a small reception room, they sat in silence.
"Mr. Barnes, can you step out for a moment?" someone called from the door.
Dennis looked relieved. "Be right there."
Three cups of coffee sat on the table, untouched.
In the summer heat, they had gone cold, but no one drank them, even though Dennis was parched.
Things were so awkward right now.
Dennis dashed out.
Felicity watched him leave, then sighed. She picked up a cup and said slowly, "Dennis isn't usually like this."
"You know him well?" Alexander asked.
"Of course," Felicity replied calmly, raising an eyebrow.
Alexander's deep eyes studied her, then he smiled and picked up his coffee.
Felicity noticed his long legs cramped under the cheap table and sofa, then quickly looked down and sipped her coffee.
Another minute of silence passed.
It was so quiet they could hear the noise outside.
But inside, it was dead silent.
"I'm married," Alexander suddenly said, holding his cup elegantly, looking at Felicity.
Felicity's eyebrows shot up, and she smiled. "Really? Congrats, Mr. Harrington."
Alexander's smile faded, but he nodded.
Another awkward silence stretched on for almost a minute before Alexander said, "Let's have dinner tonight."
Felicity shook her head. "No, we're leaving right after filming."
"In such a rush?"
"Yeah, planning a vacation, going abroad."
"Do you need a companion, Ms. Katherine?" Alexander asked.
Felicity kept smiling, but her eyes flashed a puzzled look, waiting for him to continue.
"I happen to be free recently," Alexander added.
"But you just said you're married," Felicity pointed out.
"Yeah, this morning," Alexander replied.
"Married this morning and asking another woman out in the afternoon?" Felicity raised an eyebrow.
Alexander grinned. "Life's short. Gotta enjoy it."
Felicity stared into his sharp eyes, trying to figure him out, hoping he wasn't as sleazy as he sounded.
"Mr. Harrington, you seemed like a gentleman, not some lecherous big boss," she said, still smiling but with a hint of dignity.
Her eyes even showed a bit of admiration.
Alexander's smile faded. "What can eyes really see? The person who promised to spend her life with me could be gone the next moment."
Felicity's smile faded too, and she stayed silent for a bit.
Alexander smirked. "What? Afraid I can't pay my share? Name your price."
Felicity's expression darkened. 'What does he want?' she thought.
She put down her cup, leaned back, and looked at him seriously. "I heard Mrs. Harrington died before the wedding, so the ceremony couldn't happen. Did that humiliate you?"
Alexander sneered. "Me? Humiliated? No, I only feel hatred."
"Hatred?" Felicity looked intrigued, urging him to continue.
"Hatred," Alexander repeated, his tone filled with despair.
"Mr. Harrington, it seems you have troubles, but my life experience is limited. I can't solve your problems," Felicity said.
"How do you know if you don't try?" Alexander's eyes never left her.
Every expression of hers was etched in his mind.
"In our line of work, being labeled a mistress would end my career. I don't want that. So, sorry, Mr. Harrington. You'll have to find someone else," Felicity said, standing up.
Alexander lowered his eyes, staring at the mark on his finger. "Ms. Katherine, your worries are unnecessary. If I refuse to let anyone know who my woman is, no one will."
He didn't seem to like her, but he was definitely talking about wanting her.
Felicity's eyes flickered, but she quickly said, "Even if you're powerful, every adult knows there's no such thing as a secret that won't be revealed."
Alexander stood up, his gaze sharper. "You seem to be implying something."
"Just the literal meaning. Mr. Harrington, don't overthink it. Goodbye," Felicity said, nodding politely and walking away.
"Stop," Alexander suddenly said.
Felicity stopped, her slender legs standing straight.
Alexander stared at her legs and the high heels Victoria would never wear, then quickly blocked her path.
"Mr. Harrington, do you have something else?" Felicity asked, looking up at him.
Alexander didn't speak, just moved closer.
Felicity's eyelashes trembled, and she stepped back.
Alexander sneered at her false eyelashes, then raised his hand.
When he pulled off her false eyelashes, she instinctively closed her eyes, crying out in pain.
Alexander leaned close to her reddened ear, his voice deep and threatening. "Don't tell me you've forgotten who you are after wearing false eyelashes?"
