Chapter 23 Eloise in Trouble
"Old Lady Harrington was so agitated when she saw the divorce papers that she tore it up immediately, saying, 'I absolutely won't let you two divorce,'" the nanny explained. The servants in the Harrington family knew about the death of Victoria's parents. Victoria had been well-behaved and respectful to the Harrington family for the past two years, and she was kind to their servants. They had long since considered her a young mistress; how could someone suddenly appear and replace her? But did Old Lady Harrington not realize that such a thing could be reprinted after being torn up?
"Alexander, it's almost half past nine. Aren't you coming back? I need to call Old Lady Harrington," said the nanny after dinner, just past nine o'clock. Victoria was sending a WhatsApp message when she heard the nanny's voice from not far away. Ten minutes later, her doorbell rang. She turned her head and saw the man who had brought her home a while ago.
Subconsciously, she stood up while looking down at the floor, not daring to look at him. Alexander strode over to her, "Are you looking for a four-leaf clover?"
"Huh?" Victoria thought she had heard wrong, but when she looked up, she met his deep gaze. Alexander looked at her somewhat irritably, his mood inexplicably trapping him again. He turned and sat on the sofa, picking up the remote control.
Victoria's phone vibrated, and she looked down again. Alexander looked up at her, "Sit down."
"Okay." She responded, then sat down far away from him. Alexander looked at her for a while, almost laughing. What was with her acting like he was a dangerous animal?
Her phone vibrated again, then several more times in quick succession. "Victoria."
"Hmm?" Victoria looked up from her phone to him, waiting for him to continue.
"Who’s texting you?" He realized there was no need to beat around the bush with her. It was already half past nine at night, and anyone who had so much to say at this time must be a close friend. He suddenly remembered that they had added each other on WhatsApp almost three years ago, but she had never sent him a single WhatsApp message.
"Just a friend, a regular friend." She remembered his previous questioning, so this time she explained clearly.
Alexander was not pleased with her answer, but he didn't ask any further. Would he seem too nosy if he asked whether it was a male or female friend?
Soon after, the nanny came down from upstairs. Seeing that he had returned, she immediately approached, "Mr. Alexander, Mrs. Harrington, your bath is ready. I've added some calming ingredients. You two can have a good night's sleep." Victoria saw through the nanny’s playful schemes. But... were they supposed to share the same bath water?
Alexander looked straight at her. She appeared obedient on the surface, but her eyes were trying hard to hide her intelligence. When her parents passed... he was right next to her. He had witnessed her despair.
"Well, I'll leave you two alone now." The nanny, seeing that they were both at home, didn't linger in the living room any longer. After all, Old Lady Harrington's intention was to give them some private time.
Suddenly, only the two of them were left in the large living room. Victoria felt inexplicably nervous, but even though the nanny intended for them to share the bath; no matter what, he was the true master of the Harrington family. Naturally, the person the nanny served was him, so...
She lowered her head and said, "You should go." The word "bath" seemed a bit ambiguous when said out loud, so she automatically filtered it out.
"Go where?" Alexander's sexy fingers rested on his long legs, tapping on his thigh casually.
Victoria inadvertently saw his slender fingers, which seemed to be playing a beautiful note. The next second, she restrained herself and looked down, "To take a bath."
"If I didn't hear wrong just now, the nanny said we should go together," he said.
