Chapter 685 He Signed the Divorce Agreement

"Alexander!"

Olivia called out, all anxious, as he was heading out.

"Olivia, just drop it."

Benjamin cut her off.

Alexander's tall frame slowed down and finally stopped when he hit the shadows.

The cold wind smacked his injured back, and Victoria's sad face popped back into his head.

Why didn't she just finish him off back then?

Victoria was so pissed and heartbroken, but she stopped when she saw it was him.

Shouldn't she have just stabbed him in the chest, letting him die with Isabella?

Why did she let him go?

Why did she leave all messed up?

She was just running away.

She was the real coward.

"Victoria, why did you stop?"

Alexander's eyes were bloodshot; he couldn't bring himself to hate anymore.

But if he didn't hate, how could he keep going?

His hands clenched into fists. Yeah, he hated.

"What will it take for him to go find Victoria?"

Later, Olivia sat inside holding her daughter, muttering.

The guys were all quiet. Olivia looked at them, disappointed, and finally said, "You all know they have issues. If they don't meet, it'll never get sorted."

"Will meeting really fix it?"

Benjamin asked her.

"If everyone gave up 'cause they were scared of failing, what kind of world would this be?"

Olivia thought it through. They had to meet. Whether it was love or hate, whether they could patch things up or not, it was better than this.

Right now, they were just pretending everything was cool.

But really?

Only they knew the pain and rot inside.

If friends didn't help now, who would?

"But I've said all I should."

Edward said softly.

"And what about the stuff you shouldn't say?"

Olivia shot back.

"Don't you know Alexander's temper? Who dares to say what shouldn't be said? If you push his buttons, he..."

"Didn't what I just say push his buttons? What did he do to me?"

Olivia cut him off.

Edward shut up. He didn't want to argue with his wife over a friend, especially since she looked so worried.

Who knew what spell Victoria cast on Olivia to make her so concerned.

Late at night, the Harrington Mansion.

The house was dim, everyone had gone to bed. A sports car rolled in slowly.

Eloise murmured, "Another year gone. Wonder how Victoria's doing?"

"If she's with Adrian, she shouldn't be too bad off."

Brett pondered, murmuring back.

"What's the deal? She was with Alexander, then Adrian. How could she act like this?"

Eloise felt ashamed thinking about what Adrian had said.

"I think Adrian's just stubborn. Victoria doesn't love him, so she wouldn't do it."

Brett had some faith in Victoria.

"She's just in her twenties. She doesn't know much and she's been hurt bad. What if she was swayed..."

Anything was possible.

"Why's there a light? Is Alexander back?"

Eloise said, getting up to look out the window.

Seeing it was Alexander, Eloise called him.

Alexander walked in, answered the phone, and went to their room.

Brett turned on the bedside lamp, lying on the bed, and looked at Alexander, who came back in a thin shirt. He couldn't help but ask, "In this cold, don't you know to wear more?"

"It's not cold at all. Why aren't you two asleep yet?"

Alexander asked.

"How can I sleep? Come here, sit down, I gotta talk to you."

Eloise patted the edge of the bed, signaling him to sit.

Alexander walked over and sat down. "Go ahead."

If he didn't let them spill their guts, they wouldn't get any sleep.

Might as well let them vent.

"Alexander, I know I'm being selfish. When Victoria got hurt saving me, I really regretted not agreeing to her divorce request back then. But now, Alexander, I still care more about your feelings. Can I help you find her? Anyway, I can't sleep well every night. If I don't see her and talk to her, I feel like I'm dying."

Eloise spoke earnestly to Alexander, tears in her eyes.

"Grandma, seriously, there's no need. She won't blame you, and neither will I."

"It's precisely because neither of you will blame me that I feel even worse. You didn't see her back then. That witch Isabella found so many men to humiliate her. You two were doing so well, but because of me..."

"Grandma, it was never because of you. That kidnapping was a trap Isabella set for me and Victoria."

"But..."

"Even if it wasn't you, Isabella had already hired people to follow my parents. She had already gone mad. She would have found any way to torture and trample on Victoria."

"No, Alexander, listen to me. It's not like that, she..."

Eloise shook her head as she listened to Alexander push all the responsibility away from her. She was certain that she got involved with this.

Alexander didn't expect Eloise to have so much to say. By the time he had calmed her down and returned to his room, it was already 1 AM.

Before he left Eloise and Brett's room, Brett said, "You're a man. If you still love her, go find her."

Alexander returned to his room, only to let out a helpless laugh, then fell into endless silence. 'Find Victoria? Forget it.'

Thinking back to their time together, only a few days that Victoria was happy back then.

Her heart had already flown away, why should he disturb her?

Maybe he really should start a new life.

The next morning, he went to the office and found Janaye, "Contact Adrian and give this to him."

"Okay."

Janaye had Adrian's contact information, but what was in the file folder on the desk?

Adrian arrived at the Harrington Group office building but didn't see Alexander. He took the file folder from Janaye and opened it directly.

Inside was a divorce agreement. Both he and Janaye were stunned after reading it.

"How could this be..."

Janaye immediately regretted calling Adrian.

She looked up at Adrian, seeing how agitated he was, and regretted it even more. She quickly spoke, "Mr. ..."

"Wait."

Adrian couldn't care about her feelings anymore. He just held his breath and pulled out the entire agreement. At the end of a series of clauses, Alexander's name was prominently signed.

Was he really going to set Victoria free?

Adrian couldn't contain his excitement any longer.

He didn't expect that Alexander took it serious just as what he said that night.

Adrian didn't know the reason, but he couldn't wait any longer. As he walked towards the elevator, he called, "He signed the divorce agreement."

The door to the boss's office was open and Alexander was standing by it. He turned and leaned against the wall when he heard that.

Yes, he could hear how happy Adrian was. He just didn't know if Victoria on the other end was as happy as Adrian.

Were they planning to get married immediately?

Just like they did back then, so quickly getting their certificates.

But back then, they weren't as excited.

"I'll be back tomorrow. Don't leave yet."

Adrian shouted excitedly as he entered the elevator.

Alexander came out of the office when he heard that, but the elevator doors had already closed.

Soon, he was anxious.

Leave?

Where was Victoria going?

Wasn't Elysium Country far enough?
