Chapter 713 I'll Ask Her to Apologize to You
"Yeah."
Maxwell hustled off to handle things.
"Alex, you're such a sweetheart."
Daisy grinned from ear to ear.
"Is that all it takes to make you happy?"
Alexander replied, sounding bored.
Daisy blushed, locking eyes with him for a second before looking down, all shy.
Victoria ignored their little moment, grabbed the water pitcher, and poured herself a glass.
Just as she finished, another glass slid in front of her.
Alexander, with a straight face, said, "Ms. Kensington, mind pouring me one too?"
Victoria was annoyed but kept it cool, filling his glass.
"Thanks, Victoria."
No sooner had she filled Alexander's glass than another cup appeared. Victoria saw Daisy's cup and sighed but filled it anyway, warning, "Ms. Bryant, careful, it's hot."
"Thanks."
Daisy thought she was being super polite. To her, Victoria was just Strawberry's nanny. Especially when Victoria wiped Strawberry's drool, Daisy felt even more that Victoria was just a nanny.
Alexander had Victoria around just to look after Strawberry. He wasn't exactly nice to her, nor did he order her favorite food.
Victoria thought, 'Never mind, let them do whatever they want, as long as I can stay by Strawberry's side.'
But she didn't see what was coming next.
The trouble started with the restaurant's special dishes, loaded with different peppers. Victoria asked Maxwell, who was serving, "There aren't any of those fat peppers in here, right?"
She couldn't remember the name, just that those red, chubby peppers had caused issues before.
"Which peppers, Mrs. Harrington?"
"Hang on."
Victoria pulled out her phone and quickly searched.
Meanwhile, Alexander reached for the soup, but Victoria stopped him, saying, "Hold up a sec."
Alexander said nothing but put the spoon down.
Daisy watched, noticing Alexander's annoyed look, and then glanced at Victoria, wondering what she was up to.
"Oh, there's a dish with that chili. Are you allergic, Mrs. Harrington?"
Maxwell asked.
"I'm breastfeeding, and the doc said to avoid this chili. Thanks."
Victoria replied politely.
She wasn't allergic; Alexander was.
As soon as Maxwell left, Alexander said sarcastically to Victoria, "You're so thorough. Why not pick out the cilantro I hate too?"
Daisy chimed in, "Can you pick out the pepper strips for me too?"
Daisy was really starting to dislike Victoria. She didn't get why Victoria was so picky earlier, thinking she had no right to be choosy in front of her and Alexander. Victoria was just a nanny, after all.
Daisy thought Victoria didn't know her place. Since Alexander had already asked Victoria to pick out the cilantro, Daisy figured she might as well make her do something too, to remind her of her role.
Victoria was surprised and looked at Daisy, saying, "What did you say?"
"I said, can you pick out the pepper strips for me? I know Alex doesn't like peppers either. Thanks, Victoria."
Daisy thought she was being very respectful.
Victoria couldn't help but smirk, saying, "I can, but why should I?"
"Because you seem to like picking things out. You even know the different types of peppers, right?" Daisy shot back.
Victoria felt the jab but just shot back, "Ms. Bryant, you're a grown-up; handle it yourself."
With that, she picked up her fork and started eating.
Alexander, who had been quiet, finally raised his wine glass when he saw her eating, "Ms. Bryant."
Daisy quickly grabbed her wine glass, but as she leaned in to clink glasses, she felt awkward because he had already taken a sip. No clink, just a sip.
Daisy felt uneasy, not sure why, but sensing his annoyance.
When Victoria went to the restroom, Daisy couldn't help but follow. Once inside, Daisy walked up to Victoria, who was washing her hands, turned on another faucet, and whispered, "You probably don't want to get back with him, right? I might not be sure I can make him fall for me, but I don't want anyone messing things up while I'm trying."
Victoria turned her head, looking puzzled, "Say that again?"
"You two are divorced. Even if you want to get back together, you are still the third wheel."
Daisy dropped her sweet act and got serious.
Victoria raised an eyebrow, carefully washing each finger, then turned off the faucet, pulled out a paper towel, and slowly dried her hands, saying, "Miss, you have no right to tell me what to do."
Daisy looked at her, anxious, "I'm not trying to control you. I just want you to know you're not good enough for him anymore."
"Whether or not I'm good enough is none of your business."
"Why don't you get it? You can't use Strawberry to lure him anymore."
Daisy was getting desperate.
Victoria found it amusing, saying, "I suggest you watch your tone. Words can get you in trouble, you know."
With that, Victoria walked out.
Daisy immediately followed, "Victoria, what right do you have to be with Alex now? Don't think just because you had his kid, you can tie him down. Any woman can have a kid."
Victoria felt her patience wearing thin.
How ridiculous!
"Mrs. Harrington, are you in there?"
"Come in."
Victoria, feeling irritated, immediately responded when she heard Eve's voice.
Eve opened the door and, seeing Daisy in front of Victoria, immediately stepped forward and pushed Daisy back a few feet with her arm.
Daisy felt Eve's arm was like an iron rod, super hard. She muttered, "She's not Alexander's wife anymore."
"Mr. Harrington hasn't told us to stop treating Mrs. Harrington as his wife."
Eve replied firmly.
"Fine, I'll go back to the room now, okay?"
Daisy felt she shouldn't have confronted Victoria. Not only did she fail to intimidate her, but she might also get badmouthed by her.
Before Victoria could badmouth her, Daisy decided she should explain things to Alexander first.
Eve looked at Victoria, and when Victoria said nothing, she lowered her arm.
Daisy quickly ran back, but tears started falling before she entered the room. She walked in with red, tearful eyes, saying, "Alex, I think I messed up."
Alexander was feeding Strawberry water. Hearing this, he continued steadily, only saying indifferently, "Were you bullied?"
"What should I do? I think I offended Victoria. I just apologized and asked her to help me pick out the pepper strips, but she didn't accept it at all. She even thought I was throwing a tantrum because of your favor. I know you don't care about me that much. How could I dare to think that?"
Daisy said, crying.
"I'll ask her to apologize to you."
Alexander said indifferently.
