Chapter 873 It's Hard to Empathize When It Doesn't Happen to You

Friends eventually found out about Victoria's accident and gradually made their way to the hospital to visit her.

But the ICU door was tightly shut. Olivia stood at the door and couldn't help but smile bitterly, "One day, you'll get what you want, Alexander."

"Olivia."

Edward whispered beside her, trying to keep Olivia from saying anything more hurtful.

"Didn't you say you'd never divorce, only become a widower? You'll get your wish."

Olivia felt an indescribable disappointment towards Alexander.

Among them, Alexander was always the one who had everything under control.

He could do everything well, and of course, torturing people was no exception.

"You should let Victoria go."

Olivia said this later and then had to step outside.

She feared she would fight Alexander.

Victoria had done enough, Victoria had always been so patient, why did it end up like this?

Alexander stood there expressionless. Had he not let Victoria go?

The plane was about to take off, and she chased after him.

Alexander felt an indescribable pain in his chest, but he couldn't express it at the moment.

The suppression had dragged on for what felt like an eternity, and there was no end in sight.

The holiday quickly passed.

Outside, everything was peaceful, everyone had changed into lighter clothes and was busily engaged.

Except for them.

In the evening, Benjamin invited Edward and Sebastian for dinner and mentioned, "Alexander is at the hospital; he probably won't be coming out anytime soon."

"If Victoria doesn't get better, he probably won't either. I went to the hospital today, and Alexander has lost a lot of weight." Edward said.

"I didn't expect things to turn out this way between Alexander and Ms. Kensington. Back then, Alexander even gave up on Isabella. He declared in front of so many people that Victoria was his wife. I thought they would be very happy." Sebastian said.

Edward and Benjamin suddenly fell silent, thinking, 'What is this?'

'The unpredictability of life?'

"Do you think if it had been Alexander who slept with Isabella instead of me, things would have been different?"

"Even if Alexander had reluctantly married Isabella, they would have divorced. Isabella is too scheming; Alexander could never like a woman like that." Benjamin said.

Sebastian felt a bit better hearing this.

He was afraid he had shattered what could have been a love story.

"The Hughes family has finally allowed it."

Benjamin felt the previous topic was too heavy and changed the subject.

"What?"

Edward and Sebastian eagerly awaited the next part.

"Tessa is pregnant, and we can get married."

Benjamin smiled bitterly. This wasn't the outcome he wanted.

Maybe it was fate's design. This child came to help them overcome the Hughes family's elders and allow them to get married.

"You're pretty fast, but even if the Hughes family agrees, does your family agree?"

"That's not something to worry about."

Benjamin knew his family disapproved of Tessa, but he liked her anyway.

And now, the Beaumont Family was under his control. The worst outcome would be his parents refusing to attend the wedding.

That didn't matter; time would wear down their resistance.

As long as he liked her, his parents would have to accept her.

Especially since Tessa was pregnant.

When Benjamin mentioned Tessa's pregnancy to his family, he could see they were excited, but because of the long-standing discord between the two families, they hadn't agreed to his marriage with Tessa.

After dinner, the three of them went straight to the hospital, bringing only some alcohol.

Sure enough, Alexander was sitting there alone, his loneliness making people feel an urge to hug him.

But the three of them thought it might not be appropriate, so they held back.

Alexander heard the commotion, looked up at them, and seeing they had all come, sighed helplessly.

Alexander wanted to smile; he was grateful but had no energy.

The four of them sat in a row against the wall, each with a can of beer.

Alexander said, "You don't need to worry about me."

"We're not worried about you; we're worried about Victoria," Benjamin said.

Alexander finally managed a smile.

Then he just sat there, and no one said anything more. They continued drinking, waiting.

Diana was invited out by Daisy. Daisy, hearing about Victoria's accident, was secretly pleased but pretended to be concerned, "How is she now?"

"Victoria is in the ICU," Diana said weakly.

Diana hadn't wanted things to turn out this way for Victoria.

She just wanted Victoria and Alexander to break up.

"Maybe this is her fate."

"What fate?" Diana asked Daisy, puzzled.

"Victoria stole someone else's place; maybe it's time she gave it back."

"Are you talking about Isabella? That bitch doesn't deserve Alexander."

Diana immediately thought of Isabella.

"But Ms. Montgomery said they were in true love."

"You believe her? Are you an idiot? Don't you know how many big shots Isabella has seduced? I even saw news abroad about her getting beaten up by someone's wife and making headlines."

Diana found Isabella disgusting, with no dignity. How could she think she could become the mistress of the Harrington family?

Isabella wasn't even as good as Victoria.

"So what kind of woman do you think is suitable for Alexander?" Daisy couldn't help but ask.

"Kind, gentle, and pure."

Diana had an answer immediately.

"If that's the case, there are plenty of women who could be suitable for Alexander."

Daisy lowered her eyes and said softly.

Diana frowned at Daisy, "How are there plenty? Do you think there are many good girls nowadays?"

"What if she's been married before, but she's still a virgin?"

"What?"

Diana was stunned.

'Being married before?'

'Still a virgin?'

'How is that possible?' Diana thought.

"She never made love with her husband, did she? Is it her problem or her husband's problem? Such a person is even less desirable."

"What if her husband is gay?"

Diana stared at Daisy, and suddenly many things flashed through her mind.

Diana knew Daisy's husband, Elliot. She had heard that Elliot didn't like women, but there were also rumors that he liked both men and women.

Diana thought of something and sneered, asking Daisy, "You don't still have feelings for Alexander, do you? Daisy, don't blame me for not reminding you, you're not worthy."

Daisy was immediately a bit upset but quickly smiled and said softly, "How could I have such thoughts? I'm doing well now. I was just asking you. It's said you're knowledgeable, and I wanted to know if you could accept Alexander marrying such a woman. She's perfect in every way but has an unfortunate marriage."

"Adrian said something the other day that I agree with."

Diana suddenly thought of Adrian.

"What did he say?"

"Many things don't have absolute answers. If it doesn't happen to you, you can't truly understand."

Diana disliked Victoria.

But Diana also felt that the Harrington family had no right to deprive Victoria of her right to be a mother.

As long as Strawberry was truly born to Victoria.

Diana suddenly had an idea and quickly stood up from her seat, "I'm leaving."
