Chapter 237 The End of Their Relationship
Alexander noted her stillness and, picking up the document, addressed her, "There's a point here I don't quite comprehend."
She had been the one to print the document, so upon hearing his words, she felt no suspicion and promptly stepped forward.
Positioning herself before his desk, she craned her neck slightly and inquired, "Which point?"
Alexander reclined in his chair, a frosty smile dancing in his eyes. "Do I look like a predator? Come closer."
Victoria was puzzled by his words. His demeanor seemed indifferent. Tentatively, she moved around the desk, careful not to approach too closely. "What?"
"Here," Alexander responded, abruptly seizing her slender wrist.
In the next moment, she felt a sharp pain in her waist, and her body was propelled towards an unknown destination.
However, when she looked up in alarm, all she could discern was a cunning glint in Alexander's eyes. Her heart pounded like a drum in her chest, and she was acutely aware of his potent masculine aura. It was so intense that she found it difficult to breathe.
But Alexander merely gazed at her, his stare intense. "You're always so guarded around me, as if I were a thief. Isn't that so?"
"Mr. Harrington, we're at work," Victoria quickly averted her eyes, not daring to meet his gaze again.
Alexander chuckled, "Does our marital status change when we're at work?"
Victoria bit back a retort, keeping her head bowed.
Alexander held her waist and arm firmly. Noting her silence, he leaned in closer.
Only then did she react, but her only option was to move aside.
He was about to father a child with another woman. Why did he still behave so inappropriately towards her?
Victoria maintained her distance, causing Alexander's brows to furrow in irritation. "Victoria, are you playing hard-to-get?"
"I'm not," she retorted. She glanced at Alexander, a flicker of confusion crossing her face, before quickly denying it. What did playing hard-to-get mean? She simply wanted to keep her distance from him. Ideally, she would never see him again. It was time to end their relationship. From this point forward, they should lead separate lives.
Victoria was relieved when he agreed to her business trip to Country M.
She silently vowed never to return, never to entangle herself again in this relationship that was not meant for her.
Alexander studied her defiant gaze and asked, "Don't you?"
"No, not at all."
"Then why do I want to kiss you?"
Victoria was taken aback, unable to respond.
Alexander moved closer. Catching sight of her lips, he was overcome with the desire to be intimate with her.
It was a natural reaction to have towards his wife.
But she stubbornly resisted.
As Alexander moved in closer, she tried to pull away, forcing him to hold her neck to prevent her from moving, so he could kiss her.
Victoria bit her lower lip, held her breath, and tightly shut her eyes as he kissed her.
Even though his kisses always made her heart flutter like a young girl experiencing her first love. But they were not each other's first loves. She wasn't even his first...
No, she couldn't allow herself to think like that.
They were from two different worlds.
Suddenly realizing that she was about to leave, she quietly accepted his kiss.
Alexander lightly kissed her lips until his phone rang.
Her ears were still ringing when a familiar woman's voice echoed through the room.
"Alexander, about what happened at Victoria's house yesterday, I will fully compensate, no, I will double the compensation. I can even buy that house and give it to her. Please, spare my bodyguard for the sake of my lost child. I beg you, Alexander," pleaded Isabella.
