Chapter 73 You Must Break Things Off Quickly with That Woman
The term "great-grandchild" flung Victoria’s mind into turmoil.
Alexander, on the other hand, appeared quite serious. He was suggestively touching his lower lip and staring straight at her.
Suddenly, her flustered state struck him as amusing.
Reflexively, Victoria glanced at the handsome man sitting diagonally across from her who had been staring at her. She couldn't understand why he still seemed to be in a ‘playful’ mood. Should she mention now that her grandmother already had a great-grandchild on the way?
Alexander didn't seem annoyed by her glance; he even smiled.
This puzzled Victoria even more.
Why was he smiling?
This well-dressed, despicable, no, beastly man was so infuriating.
"Why do you keep touching your lips?" Arabella noticed her son's action and reached out to push his arm.
As Alexander's fingers loosened, the room fell silent.
Victoria, who had just felt more discontent towards him, now wished she could find a hole to hide in.
Seeing everyone's expressions, Alexander awkwardly cleared his throat.
In reality, he didn't feel much at all; he just wanted to keep teasing her.
From the car ride until now, Victoria's face had remained flushed.
Coincidentally, the nanny brought a plate of strawberries over.
Alexander unintentionally glanced at them before looking at her face. Surprisingly, they resembled each other.
"Oh, right, these are the fresh strawberries I had them buy today. Vicky, eat more."
Old Lady Harrington picked out the best one and handed it to Victoria.
"Thank you, Grandma."
Victoria took the strawberry and sweetly smiled at Old Lady Harrington.
"No worries. Just enjoy them. I heard that eating more strawberries will give the baby soft and smooth skin."
Old Lady Harrington couldn’t help but imagine how cute their baby would look; she felt utterly delighted.
As for Victoria...
She thought the topic of great-grandchildren had ended.
From now on, she wouldn't be able to enjoy strawberries as much.
Alexander couldn't help but chuckle.
Everyone looked at him again, with Arabella giving him the most cold look. "Why are you laughing? Having a baby isn't just Victoria's responsibility."
"Yes."
Suddenly, Alexander became serious.
"Ignore him. I'll get angry if you speak to him too much."
When Old Lady Harrington looked at him, she immediately became displeased. But when she turned to Victoria, she affectionately said, "Darling, why aren't you eating? Eat more; you love strawberries, don't you?"
As she spoke, Old Lady Harrington continued to offer her more strawberries.
Victoria genuinely felt Old Lady Harrington's kindness. From the first day she began staying with them, she always ensured there was a portion of delicious food and drink reserved for her.
But...
Today, she just couldn't fully enjoy these strawberries.
After dinner, Victoria played chess in the living room with Alexander's grandfather, while Alexander was called upstairs to the study.
The study had a solemn atmosphere. Maximus, usually easygoing, couldn't help but ask his son seriously, "Have you ended things with that woman?"
"It's not what you think."
"Alexander, everything else may be fine, but this is different. You must quickly break things off with that woman and focus on your relationship with Victoria."
Alexander remained silent and didn't argue further.
Later, as Victoria hesitated to return to her room, Alexander finished showering and lay on the sofa, scrolling leisurely through his phone.
Suddenly, a loud rumble was heard outside. It was raining.
Victoria stared at the chessboard, then glanced outside, feeling a bit distracted.
It was raining; would they be unable to leave?
She looked around and asked the servant who had just come in, "Where's Alexander?"
"Alexander? Oh, he went upstairs a while ago."
"Oh, how kind-hearted you are. You’re always thinking of that rascal." Old Lady Harrington heard Victoria mention her grandson and felt quite pleased.
Victoria smiled awkwardly yet politely.
At half past ten, Old Lady Harrington personally escorted her upstairs.
Victoria felt a bit embarrassed. "Grandma, should I accompany you back downstairs?"
"Oh, I'm not so old that you need to worry about me. Grandma will watch you go in, hurry up."
Old Lady Harrington urged her softly.
However, Victoria inexplicably felt uneasy.
Would they be sharing a room again tonight?
