Chapter 159 The Unexpected Presence

Edward and Benjamin Beaumont were present, forming a trio with the third person.

Before she could be spotted, Victoria swiftly maneuvered herself under the table. She understood that her current situation, a complicated mix of love and resentment, would not be regretted in her twilight years. However, for the moment, she needed to remain hidden.

"What’s the matter, Vicky?" Jasmine questioned, baffled by Victoria's abrupt action.

"My shoes come undone," Victoria replied in a hushed whisper.

"Do you require assistance?" Jasmine offered, joining Victoria under the table. Their eyes locked for a moment.

A minute later, both women had resumed their seats. Jasmine fought back a giggle, "Vicky, aren't you wearing slip-on heels?" Victoria too, found it difficult to suppress her laughter. Indeed, she was wearing slip-on heels. Comforted by the belief that she had not been seen, she allowed herself to relax slightly.

The man making his way to the private room sighed in resignation. Despite his initial unease, he found solace in the fact that she was spending time with Jasmine, not him.

Upon settling down, Benjamin Beaumont instructed the staff, "Send a bottle of wine to Table 27 downstairs."

"Right away," the employee responded before departing.

"Did your lady also come tonight?" Benjamin Beaumont inquired.

"Yes," Alexander responded, not minding the term "your lady" used for Victoria. Benjamin even sensed that he took pleasure in people referring to Victoria in that manner.

Deep in conversation with Jasmine, Victoria was interrupted by a staff member carrying drinks. "These are compliments of Mr. Beaumont," he informed.

"Which Mr. Beaumont?"

"Benjamin Beaumont."

"Thank you," Jasmine acknowledged, leaning towards Victoria. "Why would Mr. Beaumont send us drinks?"

"I've got no idea," Victoria responded calmly, though internally she was shaken. Could Alexander have noticed her? It seemed improbable; she had been quite discreet.

As Jasmine poured the wine, a woman approached their table. "Miss Jasmine, Vicky, what a coincidence?" Jasmine and Victoria looked up to see the newcomer. Jasmine appeared slightly disconcerted and turned to Victoria for cues.

"Quite the coincidence," Jasmine responded, her voice revealing her true feelings.

"Oh, Alex invited me for a drink. I'll leave you two for now, let's catch up later. Drinks at your table are on me tonight," Isabella announced before departing.

After her departure, Jasmine muttered, "Who needs her treat anyway?" Noticing Victoria lost in thought, Jasmine urged, "Vicky, you should go up there."

"Go where?" Victoria was confused.

"Upstairs, to find Mr. Harrington, and see what kind of game this woman is playing," Jasmine suggested.

Victoria smiled at Jasmine's earnest eyes. She touched the ring on her finger, pondering the awkward encounter that awaited her upstairs. He had made it clear: if the child was his, they'd divorce immediately. She had already moved out, after all.

Despite their marital status, to the outside world, she was merely his secretary. For now, she could only wait. Victoria was managing several projects at the moment. She anticipated results by their completion.

"My cousin mentioned he saw Isabella enter a private room upstairs with a man just yesterday," Jasmine shared, adding a layer of intrigue to the situation.

"Who knows? Maybe the child isn't Mr. Harrington's at all," Jasmine speculated further. Victoria found herself glancing upstairs again, recalling the words Alexander had said to her in the elevator.

"If I were you, I'd definitely go up there. It's a good opportunity to clear things up since everyone's already there."

"What if the baby she's carrying is Alexander's?"

"Then you need to assert yourself as the rightful wife. Do you really want someone to steal your husband? Haven't you heard how many mistresses climb the ladder because they're carrying the golden child?" Jasmine, drawing from the novels she had read, earnestly shared these thoughts with Victoria.

"But our relationship is..."

"Mr. Harrington." Jasmine abruptly stood up. Victoria noticed Jasmine's sudden rigid posture and followed her gaze.

"What’s wrong with our relationship?"

The man was suddenly standing behind her.
