Chapter 717 He Would Only Let Go After Putting Her on the Edge
"Alexander!"
Benjamin and Edward felt a pang of anxiety as they watched him storm off. They immediately shouted after him.
Olivia walked over to Victoria, gave her a gentle hug, and glanced in Alexander's direction. "Is he nuts?" Olivia asked, her voice full of disbelief.
Benjamin and Edward took off after him, while Victoria started to chuckle next to Olivia.
Victoria gave a bitter smile.
Olivia noticed Victoria's expression, freaked out, and sat down in front of her, grabbing her shoulders. "You better not do anything stupid, got it?"
"Will you back me up?"
Stupid stuff? Hadn't she done enough already? One more thing wouldn't hurt.
"I won't let you do that."
Olivia was seriously scared by her calm and indifferent look.
"Olivia, as long as I have my daughter, I don't care about my womb."
"He was just mad. Why bring up removing your womb?"
"He was waiting for me to say that."
Victoria knew people would think she was hurting herself.
Only she knew Alexander wanted her to feel completely humiliated and in pain. He'd only let her go if she was on the brink.
He didn't want her to have a good life. He just wanted proof she only had Strawberry and wouldn't have more kids.
She took a deep breath and stared into the distance.
Why were Edward and Benjamin chasing after him?
He was so stubborn, no one could change his mind.
Victoria's phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the Harrington Mansion, and she saw it was Arabella's number. She answered, "Hey, Mom."
"Victoria, why aren't you back yet? Strawberry's starving."
"I'll be right back."
Victoria agreed immediately and stood up.
Olivia looked confused. "What's up?"
"Strawberry's hungry."
Olivia watched as Victoria hurried out, frowning.
Benjamin and the others had said Strawberry was at Alexander and Victoria's house.
But now Alexander's mom was calling to say Strawberry was hungry?
So, where was Strawberry really?
Olivia felt something was off. Victoria always got impulsive when it came to Strawberry, and that mother-son duo always mentioned Strawberry in every sentence.
In other words...
Olivia didn't want to think that way, but it seemed like the mother and son had Victoria's weak spot. Victoria would almost always give in when it came to Strawberry.
When Olivia went outside, Alexander was already gone. Benjamin and Edward were standing there, worried. Edward, with his hands on his hips, saw his wife coming out and immediately approached her. "Victoria left too."
"Did they leave together?"
"No way. But she wouldn't really go through with removing her uterus, would she?"
Edward shuddered at the thought.
It wasn't just him; who wouldn't be freaked out?
"What is Alexander thinking? Is he trying to push Victoria to the edge for Strawberry? Do they have such deep grudges?"
Olivia asked Edward, puzzled.
"Arguing about this now is pointless. What's important is to stop Victoria from doing that."
Benjamin reminded them.
Olivia immediately fell silent, but soon she said, "He's really ruthless."
Edward and Benjamin looked at her. They didn't think Alexander was as ruthless as he seemed. There was clearly a misunderstanding between Alexander and Victoria.
Victoria casually talked about that disaster from over a year ago. In reality, she had never forgiven Alexander for taking the knife for Isabella.
Snowflakes started falling again in the night sky.
On the way to the Harrington Mansion, Victoria sat in the back, lost in thought.
Eve glanced back with concern. "Mrs. Harrington, it's snowing."
Victoria snapped out of her daze and looked at the snowflakes filling the sky.
Not long after, the car stopped by the seaside. Eve got out, and Victoria's heart started pounding as she looked towards the driver's seat.
"The car broke down," Alexander said flatly, then started the car again and kept driving.
But the car never made it to the Harrington Mansion.
After a few hundred feet, the car stopped again. Alexander got out, closed the door, and lit a cigarette outside.
Snow quickly covered his head, shoulders, and the creases of his clothes, but he didn't seem to notice, silently smoking his cigarette.
Victoria sat for a bit, then got out of the car too.
It was close to the Harrington Mansion. She walked slowly in her high heels.
Alexander heard the sound, turned, and saw her coming out. He knew what she was up to but didn't rush to catch up, finishing his cigarette in silence.
Victoria soon stopped.
She felt Alexander following her.
She lowered her eyes, and her hot tears couldn't hold back those heavy emotions anymore.
The wind blew, and tears quickly streaked down her face, but she didn't lift her head again.
Victoria didn't get it. They were so in love back then. How did it come to this?
She blamed him. He was an adult but hadn't handled his emotions well.
"Go away. You've always wanted freedom. You're not in good health. Being alone can save you a lot of trouble. This is the best arrangement for you."
"I don't need someone else to decide what's best for me."
"So you're dead set on fighting me for Strawberry's custody?"
Alexander turned to look at her.
"Let's talk about it tomorrow, Alexander. It's snowing."
Victoria lowered her head and kept walking forward.
She felt that such a romantic day wasn't right for arguing.
She just wanted to walk home slowly, then lie in Strawberry's bed, coaxing Strawberry to eat and sleep, feeling Strawberry's body warmth.
She felt so cold, a bone-chilling cold.
She had her coat draped over her arm, but suddenly she didn't want to wear it. This cold seemed to make people especially calm.
And she needed calmness right now.
But Victoria hadn't walked far when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
She turned and looked at the hand pulling her wrist, the hand she had once been madly in love with, the hand she had played with during their passionate love. Now it only made her feel pain. She slowly raised her eyes, looking at his cold face in the dim light, and said slowly, "Alexander, let me go."
"Get in the car. I'll take you there."
"Alexander, let go of me."
He grabbed her, trying to take her back to the car, but she resisted.
"You said we'd talk about it tomorrow. Why are you arguing with me now?"
"I don't like you touching me."
Victoria looked at him with an angry gaze, struggling to say each word.
"Really? Then you must've forgotten that I like doing things you don't like."
Alexander suddenly stepped forward, placing her hand behind his arm and easily lifting her off the ground.
