Chapter 16 Returning Abroad
Arabella was completely taken aback, and once she regained her composure, she promptly stood up, ready to leave. But she couldn't resist turning back to him and saying, "I think you've lost your mind. You were the one who agreed to the marriage in the first place, and now you're asking for a divorce? I don't think you'll be welcomed back into the Harrington family anytime soon unless you're looking for your grandfather and father to give you a piece of their mind."
After saying her piece, Arabella left. Her anger was so intense that she could feel her blood pressure rising. Her vision was slightly blurry, so she could only sit in their living room for a while.
"Alexander!"
Soon, the man in the dining room reluctantly got up.
Arabella shouted at him, and he had no choice but to go to the living room.
Arabella's face turned red and then pale due to her anger. She looked up at him and asked, "Does Vicky know you want a divorce?"
"Yes."
"Does she also know about you and Isabella?"
"I married her because our family owed her. Now that we're married, I don't think we need to hide things from her. Otherwise, we'll have to hide a lot of things in the future. I would find it annoying, and she wouldn't be happy."
"Huh? So, you're considering Vicky's feelings? She lost her parents when she was twenty because she came to attend your grandmother's birthday. Alexander, you can't be so cruel to her."
Arabella was on the verge of collapse, but she knew she had to talk to her child about this.
"She doesn't like me either. This marriage was only to provide her with a safe haven. How can it be cruel?"
"No, it's not like that. She likes you."
"How can you tell?"
"In my eyes, she's like an open book. I can read the simple words on it at a glance. I thought you liked her too. The way you looked at each other when you met on your grandmother's birthday was different."
"You misunderstood."
Alexander didn't interrupt her, but he ultimately denied her assumption.
"So, you like Isabella?"
"Yes."
"You... I can't control it anymore. You go talk to your grandparents."
Arabella felt like she was about to collapse. He actually admitted that he liked Isabella?
After Arabella left, Alexander turned his gaze upstairs.
Yes, Victoria had been standing there for a while.
She had heard most of their conversation.
Knowing she had been discovered, she came down.
But she didn't change her clothes.
She walked up to him, "So, are we going to the court today?"
"The document for your promotion to my personal secretary will be officially issued this morning. I don't have time to go to the court."
"I'm not going. I'm really not going."
She didn't look at him; she just slowly backed away.
She was murmuring weakly, reiterating that she would not work at Harrington Company.
He had admitted that he liked Isabella. He had made clear the reason why he had married her. He had also denied the feelings they had when they first met.
There was nothing left.
She didn't want to be his burden, and she didn't want to continue suffering here.
"I've said it, the Harrington family has a responsibility towards you."
"If you really think so, then let me go."
"Why?"
"I'm not happy."
She still didn't dare to look at him, but she wanted him to let her go.
If he really felt guilty towards her, he should let her go.
Alexander looked at her for a while but said nothing.
The large 5382 square feet house suddenly became quiet, and a thin layer of ice seemed to rise.
"Why aren't you happy? If anyone dares to bully you at Harrington Company, you can directly ask the HR department to fire them."
Alexander patiently explained to her.
He could give her this power.
