Chapter 727 Aren't You on a Date
"Hey, go get Strawberry." Victoria had just hung up the phone when Alexander gave the order.
Victoria shot back, "Weren't you looking for some alone time?"
"I need to make sure Strawberry likes her first."
"You really don't have to." Even though she said that, Victoria got up and left.
Daisy was at the door. When Victoria opened it and saw her, she said, "Mr. Harrington's been waiting for you."
Daisy smiled faintly, "Really? But you told me it was room 303."
Daisy wanted to slap her but held back.
Victoria immediately went out to check the room number. It was 803.
She glanced at the man inside, thought for a moment, and said, "I'm really sorry. I promise no one will disturb you next time."
Daisy felt a bit better and whispered, blushing, "Didn't Strawberry come today?"
"She did, but I won't let her interrupt your date," Victoria whispered back.
"Then I won't blame you for the wrong room number."
"Thanks."
Victoria quickly left.
After Daisy entered, she gently closed the door, saying, "Mr. Harrington, it seems Ms. Kensington is new and not familiar with her job yet. She gave me the wrong room number."
"She didn't."
Alexander had finished his meal and looked up at Daisy walking towards him, saying, "Stay there; don't come any closer."
Daisy was stunned.
For some reason, she felt a sense of danger, like her throat was being squeezed.
Alexander's dark eyes were filled with layers of menace. If she took another step, she felt she might be dead.
She held her breath, thinking about Victoria's words, and suspected she was being played by her.
She softly confirmed with a beaming smile, "Mr. Harrington, Ms. Kensington said you invited me."
"Yes."
She asked again, "Then, didn't you invite me for dinner?"
The food on the table was almost gone, and it didn't look like anything she liked.
Alexander softened a bit after a while and said softly, "You can sit over there for a while."
Daisy replied, "Thank you."
She really couldn't figure out who was messing with her.
She couldn't help but look at Alexander sitting in front of her. He was so inscrutable that she couldn't guess what he was thinking. Her mother said that men like him, standing at the top, were always unpredictable, so she had to be very careful.
But how careful did she have to be?
Victoria came back, even though they were divorced.
Victoria went to find Strawberry, who was in a private suite on the rooftop.
There were staff members dedicated to taking care of the child waiting for instructions. Victoria was feeding Strawberry in the living room. Seeing her eating peacefully, she glanced around.
This place was no different from a year ago.
Except now, she had Strawberry, her adorable child. Some inappropriate images suddenly flashed in her mind. She didn't expect to think of these scenes, as she had arrogantly thought she wouldn't.
But in this house, it seemed that everywhere was filled with their intimate memories.
Victoria quietly watched Strawberry again. When Strawberry finished eating, it suddenly started snowing outside. She carefully stood up with Strawberry, walked to the window to take a look, then turned to the staff, saying, "Please get my phone; thank you."
The staff handed her the phone, and she immediately made a call, "Could you please arrange a car for me? I'll be down in ten minutes."
"Mrs. Harrington, aren't you staying here overnight?"
"No, it's not far from my home. If Mr. Harrington comes up later, don't disturb them."
Victoria said and left with Strawberry.
The staff were stunned. Victoria took the private elevator with Strawberry. The little one was getting sleepy, her head resting on Victoria's shoulder, about to drift off. Victoria wanted to keep this cozy moment undisturbed.
Honestly, she didn't want too many people knowing about Strawberry.
The elevator descended floor by floor. Victoria watched the numbers change, feeling a bit bored, until they suddenly stopped.
She instinctively looked at the door.
This was a private elevator; no one else should be using it.
But the door opened, and in walked Alexander, who she had just seen not long ago. He didn't say anything, and just closed the elevator door behind him.
As the elevator continued down, he walked over, glanced at Strawberry sleeping on her shoulder, and gently took her.
Only when Strawberry was lying on his shoulder did Victoria slowly let go. She couldn't help but ask, "Weren't you on a date?"
Alexander replied indifferently, "She had something come up."
Victoria was puzzled for a moment, then asked, "Do you remember that Strawberry is sleeping with me tonight?"
He said calmly, "I remember."
Victoria figured he would hand Strawberry back to her when they got downstairs, right?
If he was just carrying her down, then fine.
"Starting tomorrow, Eve and Frank will continue to follow you."
"Is that necessary?"
Isabella was in jail; no one was after her anymore.
"They're mainly there to take care of you and Strawberry, or rather, to take care of Strawberry."
Victoria didn't want to argue. She missed Eve and Frank. Over the past year, they had become close.
"But let me be clear, I'm not paying them."
"Of course, for my daughter's arrangements, I don't expect you to pay."
That was a relief.
Victoria didn't say anything else.
Alexander glanced at her again.
She wasn't the type to be calculating. If she was, it must be because she was broke.
"Remember the previous account? You can take all the money you spend on Strawberry from there."
"Some expenses I can cover myself, but I don't think we need bodyguards anymore."
So Victoria didn't want to be responsible.
Her current income was pretty good. Whether it was from VicLiv or her previous investments in the countryside, they had started to pay off.
When they got out of the elevator, it was a bit chilly outside. Victoria realized she had left her coat upstairs.
She carried her bag and walked out, braving the cold.
Alexander suddenly stopped and said, "My coat is dirty."
Victoria looked at him, confused, asking, "What?"
Alexander, holding Strawberry with one hand, unbuttoned his coat and looked at her, "Help me."
She instinctively grabbed his sleeve, but he was only wearing a white shirt underneath. How dirty was the coat? Was he taking it off here?
Although they were still a bit far from the door, it was open, and the wind was strong tonight.
Alexander quickly took off his coat and ordered, "Put it on."
"What?" Victoria doubted her ears.
"I told you to put it on."
"Is it necessary?"
Victoria thought to herself, 'don't you know how ambiguous it is for a woman to wear a man's clothes?'
She could hold it for him because she was a subordinate; otherwise, she wouldn't easily hold a man's coat.
"Are you going to put it on or not?" Alexander suddenly turned and approached.
Victoria looked at him, instinctively stepping back, then heard several people coming out of the elevator not far away. Not wanting to be watched, she immediately put it on and said with concern, "Give me Strawberry. I've already asked the driver to wait at the door."
