Chapter 1006 I Am Your Cane

He put on a song and then leaned back on the couch, quietly watching her as she sat there.

The singer's slow, melodic words seemed to recount their past.

Victoria listened to the lyrics, feeling a bit melancholic, so focused on the music that she forgot to pay attention to what was happening beside her.

When his lips touched hers, she shivered, her neck stiffening as she forgot to move.

Alexander's lips pressed against hers, then slowly parted.

Victoria felt her heartbeat suddenly quicken, thumping loudly as if it was rushing somewhere, but it was stopped by the darkness ahead.

His lips moved freely over hers, even carrying the taste of cherries.

From the dessert they had after dinner.

His hand cupped the back of her neck, his deep voice reminding her, "Baby, open your lips."

Victoria held her breath, hesitating to open her lips.

She snapped out of it, ignoring her flushed face, and pushed him away, trying to get up and run.

"Ah!"

She was pulled back, but it was too late.

Her knee hit the edge of the coffee table.

Alexander grabbed her, pulling her into his arms, and called out, "Erica, get someone to cover all these edges."

"Yes, sir."

The housekeeper saw their position and quickly looked away, understanding that Victoria had probably hurt herself again. She hurried off to make preparations.

"Does it hurt?"

Alexander held her on his lap, gently massaging the spot where she had hit.

Victoria felt incredibly awkward, wanting to struggle but finding it useless. She stopped trying.

Alexander's embrace was so warm, it made her want to lose herself, to surrender to the comfort.

"I just wanted you to kiss me back. Why such a big reaction?"

Alexander continued to massage her injury, whispering in her ear.

Victoria tilted her head, feeling his breath almost burning her.

She hated this feeling, as if she were being teased and played with.

She couldn't see anything, her hearing wasn't great, so he just did whatever he wanted.

But those people had been caught. She wasn't sold.

What was she?

That feeling of confusion rose in her heart again.

Seeing her distress, Alexander stopped talking and picked her up.

He thought they should go back to their room.

There might be more people around soon, and she would feel even more embarrassed.

But as soon as he picked her up, Victoria stiffened, looking even more frightened.

Seeing her tense expression, he hesitated for a moment, then decided to carry her upstairs.

Nervousness would only be temporary.

One day, she would like it, would want him by her side all the time.

With this certainty in his heart, Alexander carried her upstairs without hesitation.

Victoria thought she must have gained weight over the past few days, but he carried her effortlessly.

And whenever he was around, he made sure she ate a lot.

She felt so full, and then he placed her on the bed.

Alexander said, "We'll take a bath together later. I'll go run the water."

He wanted to help with her back pain, but when she heard bathe together, she trembled with fear.

As soon as he left, Victoria carefully felt her way off the bed, trying to find the door.

She felt like she was getting the hang of it, like she could find the door.

"Mrs. Harrington, what are you doing alone?"

Alexander had anticipated she might try to run.

When he came out of the bathroom and saw the bed empty, he rushed out to find her already near the stairs.

Thankfully, the housekeeper saw her, or else...

Alexander's heart pounded as he approached, signaling the housekeeper to leave.

After she left, he stood in front of Victoria, his heart still racing, but he could only look at her helplessly.

Did she know how badly she could get hurt if she fell down the stairs?

Her injuries hadn't even healed yet, and today she had gone on the pirate ship ride.

Alexander was at a loss, his hands on his hips, unsure of what to say to her.

He didn't dare question or scold her, afraid she would be as scared as when they first reunited.

But his sigh was heard.

Her grip on the handrail tightened.

Alexander looked at her hand on the rail, then gently pried it off, telling her, "It's me. If you need a cane, I'll be your cane."

Victoria tried to pull her hand back, but couldn't, lowering her head in submission.

Alexander, controlling his temper, asked, "Now, either let me hold your hand and walk you back, or I'll carry you. Which do you choose?"

Victoria felt a strange sense of relief, then turned around, though in the wrong direction.

Alexander understood, wrapped his arm around her waist, and gently corrected her, "Wrong way, this way."

Victoria immediately turned, accidentally bumping into his chest.

In that moment, her face was against his shoulder, hearing his helpless sigh again.

Then Alexander laughed, and she blushed deeply.

He held her hand, guiding her slowly forward, speaking just loud enough for her to hear, "It's just a bath, Strawberry has grown up."

"Alexander? What's wrong with Strawberry?"

Diana came out of her room, asking.

Alexander glanced at her, and Diana quickly understood, retreating to her room.

Victoria heard Diana's voice, hoping she would save her.

But Diana seemed to listen to Alexander very well.

They were said to be twins. How nice.

She wondered if she had any siblings, an older brother or sister, or maybe younger ones.

Victoria tried to remember something, but it was futile.

She was back in the bedroom with him.

Hearing the door close, she tensed up, wanting to ask him to open it.

Alexander turned and saw her anxious expression, pretending not to notice.

She wouldn't know what he was thinking anyway. He whispered in her ear, "Let me help you undress."

Victoria instinctively backed away, but Alexander's long legs followed her slowly. She felt the door behind her, quickly finding the doorknob.

Alexander was just a step away, whispering, "Trying to run?"

Victoria's ear tingled, making her flinch.

"If you can run, I'll walk on my hands." He said.

Victoria thought she had already found the doorknob.

She could just open the door and run.

He watched her, deliberately saying, "If you run out of our bedroom, I'll walk on my hands."

Victoria thought it would be better if he didn't make her sleep in the same room, but she quickly pressed down on the doorknob. However, a warm hand covered hers, his unique strength there.

His deep voice, devoid of any flirtation, was full of authority. "Silly girl, do you think I'd let you run?"
