Chapter 1011 He Hasn't Let Go

Victoria thought, Diana must be running fast; she could feel the wind.

Victoria didn't know what being in love felt like, but she thought Diana loved Curtis.

Even though Victoria had only had one meal with them, she felt like they were just a young couple having a spat.

The living room was empty except for her.

From a distance, she heard the housekeeper say, "Oh dear, the snow is getting heavier, and it's so cold. We need to call Mr. Harrington back early; it's not safe to be out late."

Victoria listened and instinctively leaned forward a bit.

But then she remembered her situation and quietly sat back down.

The housekeeper and Alfred glanced towards the living room but sighed, knowing Victoria couldn't speak.

The housekeeper whispered, "If Mrs. Harrington could talk, Mr. Harrington would have more comfort."

Victoria didn't hear this, but she was already feeling guilty.

"Mr. Adrian Harrington."

Victoria was feeling guilty when she suddenly heard the housekeeper call for Adrian.

"Is Victoria home? I heard she had a fever. Is she better now?"

"The fever's gone, but Mr. Alexander Harrington isn't home."

"So what if Alexander isn't home? I'm here to see Victoria, not him."

Adrian walked in and saw Victoria sitting alone on the couch.

Though there were snacks and drinks on the table, she didn't seem to notice them. She just sat quietly.

He walked over and said with a playful smile, "Wow, so many goodies today. I'm starving; let me have some."

Victoria found the voice familiar but not too familiar.

Adrian picked up a cookie and took a bite, then looked at her, feeling a pang of sadness.

She looked better recently.

"Victoria, can you hear me?"

Adrian asked patiently.

Victoria nodded, and Adrian sighed in relief.

He sat next to her and handed her the flowers he brought, placing them in her hand. "Feel them; they're your favorite flowers."

Victoria listened and touched the flowers.

"Be gentle, or they'll get crushed." He reminded.

Victoria listened carefully, trying to be gentle.

What do flowers look like?

Cool, fragile.

The scent was just okay.

What did she like? What did she like?

Victoria wasn't sure; her mind was blank.

But receiving flowers from someone was always nice.

She was happy to get a gift and smiled, though she didn't quite find the right direction.

Adrian watched her smile, but felt a bit melancholic.

He softly reassured her, "You'll get better. I'm a super handsome guy, or I wouldn't have been your friend for so many years. You have great taste. When you can see again, you'll know I'm right."

Victoria listened and smiled cooperatively.

"But why aren't you talking? The doctor said your vocal cords are fine."

Adrian muttered to himself.

Victoria heard this and her smile faded.

She was afraid.

The housekeeper and Alfred stood nearby, listening to their conversation.

Seeing them sitting so close, the housekeeper couldn't help but whisper, "Mr. Adrian Harrington is something. He knows Mr. Alexander Harrington doesn't like him being close to Mrs. Harrington, but he sits right next to her."

"Hey, bring some hot coffee." Alfred sighed and said.

"Okay, "The housekeeper agreed and went to the kitchen to make hot coffee. "Mr. Adrian Harrington, please have some coffee."

"Thank you."

"It's my duty. Mr. Adrian Harrington, it's not comfortable to sit next to Mrs. Harrington and drink coffee. Sit over here; it's more spacious."

The housekeeper smiled and reminded him.

Adrian understood immediately but said deliberately, "I like sitting next to Victoria. Alexander can't control me."

Victoria listened, confused, but instinctively paid close attention.

"Mr. Alexander Harrington is very respectful of the elderly and the young."

The housekeeper was a bit nervous, afraid she had said too much.

"I called Alexander. Don't worry; he knows I'm here to see Victoria and told me to stay for dinner." Adrian said.

The housekeeper was surprised but felt much more at ease.

"I used to like you, and Alexander was very bothered by it."

He said to Victoria after the housekeeper left.

Victoria listened and politely smiled.

But she didn't believe it.

Do both the men like an ugly woman?

Then they must be ugly too.

But the housekeeper said Alexander was very handsome, with a great figure and looks.

Victoria couldn't be sure about anything else, but she could be sure about the figure.

Victoria thought Alexander had a bit of a hot-headed personality, judging by his sometimes fierce behavior. He must be ugly.

But Adrian was supposed to be an actor. Actors shouldn't be ugly, right?

So how could he have liked her?

She didn't believe it, just smiled out of politeness.

The housekeeper came over again, "Mrs. Harrington, shall I put the flowers in a vase for you?"

The sudden sound startled her, but she still instinctively smiled.

The housekeeper took the flowers from her lap, and she understood, handing them over.

Adrian picked up a plate of strawberries and took Victoria's hand. "This plate has your favorite strawberries. Looks like Alexander still likes to bring you what you love, making sure you eat until you're full."

Victoria took a strawberry and listened to him, genuinely smiling.

Bringing her what she loves?

Making her eat until she's full?

She suddenly thought of how he kept making her eat recently and felt a bit scared.

He wouldn't force her to eat, would he?

Her face grew pale, remembering being forced to eat a meal on the ground.

Adrian saw her face turn sad and couldn't sit still on the couch.

He moved back to her side, sat on the carpet, and looked at the protected table edge, smiling.

Then he looked up at her, "Shall I tell you about our school days?"

Victoria nodded.

Adrian began to talk slowly.

She loved hearing about their past.

She thought that if that was her past, how wonderful.

She was someone with a past.

The snow outside kept falling.

Someone was shoveling the snow in the yard.

When Alexander drove back, it was already dark.

The lawn was covered in snow, but the ground he stepped on had only a thin layer.

"Is Adrian still here?"

Alexander asked Mason as he came out to greet him.

"Yes, Mr. Adrian Harrington has been with Mrs. Harrington, talking."

Alexander stopped and looked at Mason, who hesitated to speak.

"There's no more suspicion between us now. You don't need to be so cautious around him."

Alexander said calmly.

Alfred was surprised but quickly nodded, thinking they had been too petty.

After all, they were cousins.

Alexander walked in but stopped again, restraining himself as he watched Adrian sitting next to Victoria.

He knew that Adrian hadn't let go.
