Chapter 617 Injured

Early in the morning the next day, everything was just right—quiet and warm.

When Victoria's eyes fluttered open, she saw a white shirt and immediately looked up.

"I packed some daily necessities for you. Frank will go with you." Alexander's deep voice sounded.

Victoria stared at him for almost half a minute. When she came to her senses, her eyes welled up, and she found herself instinctively embracing him, leaning softly against his chest and saying, "Thank you."

Alexander stroked the back of her head as he murmured, "You need to know that I stopped you because I was afraid."

She curiously looked up at him and asked, "What are you afraid of?"

"I don't want to lose you again," he looked at her and admitted softly, helplessly.

Victoria's heart immediately pounded, but she couldn't help but ask him, "Then why are you letting me go?"

"It's the same reason," Alexander replied, smiling with a hint of bitterness.

Upon hearing this, Victoria quickly lowered her head and pressed her forehead against Alexander's chest again.

Despite Alexander's declaration of love and his assurance that he didn't want to lose her, Victoria couldn't shake off her uneasiness.

Victoria thought she might have lost the ability to say "I love you," but...

She tightly gripped his waist, speaking seriously in a soft voice, "I will come back."

"I know." Alexander stroked her long hair.

Victoria felt even more uneasy as he stroked her hair. She couldn't help but look up at him again. "I really will come back. You gave me so much money. If I don't come back, you can come after me for the debt, and then I'd be a defaulter."

Listening to her words, Alexander's previously gentle and calm face finally showed a hint of a smile. He continued to stroke her hair with his pleasant voice, "Victoria, you are my wife. If you don't come back, you won't be my defaulter."

"Really?" Victoria felt that what she had learned in the past wasn't what he was saying.

"You will only be the wife I think about day and night," he murmured.

Victoria was moved by him. After thinking for a moment, she asked him, "How about we make love one more time?"

"I think I'll wait until you come back." Alexander looked at her for a long time before saying this.

"Okay." Victoria immediately lowered her gaze, not daring to look at him again.

But her heart was still beating uneasily, as if it was ready to rush to him at any moment.

Breakfast was still toast and milk, along with eight strawberries.

However, the strawberries were arranged in the shape of a heart by him.

Victoria silently stared at the plate of strawberries for a long time. She even felt that she would be full just by eating the strawberries.

But she still followed the routine, sneaking a strawberry before immediately eating the toast.

Alexander saw this but didn't expose her. After all, those strawberries were meant for her to eat.

——

On the third day after Victoria left, Alexander couldn't sit still anymore.

Despite Edward and Benjamin being seated inside the club, he kept standing by a window where the wind could blow in.

Benjamin asked him, "Why don't you just go find her?"

"Olivia said you might have a baby soon. Your child and my child could get married when they grow up. That would be nice." Edward mentioned before taking a sip of his drink.

After hearing this, Alexander suddenly realized that he hadn't ejaculated inside recently.

"They might not end up together," Alexander said.

Benjamin and Edward looked at him in confusion. Edward frowned and asked, "You don't think we're good enough for your family, do you?"

Alexander finally turned his gaze. "Unless you can be sure they will fall in love."

Edward suddenly calmed down.

He just hoped that Alexander didn't look down on their family.

Alexander was very picky; not just any family's child would catch his eye.

Whether he had a son or a daughter, his child's future partner would definitely be someone he carefully selected.

"Is it because of Victoria and Jason?" Benjamin speculated.

Alexander picked up his drink, and after a moment of contemplation, he tacitly agreed.

No one could predict the future, so he wouldn't plan the future for children.

Alexander took a sip of his drink and started thinking about Victoria again.

It was already past 9 PM, and she hadn't called yet.

Frank said she wanted to see everything herself and was very responsible. But she was such a frail person.

The night before Victoria left, after they made love, she explained why she had to do those things. It was because she explained so seriously and with such compassion that he couldn't stop her.

Alexander just hoped she would keep her promise and come back in a week.

Unexpectedly, just as they had finished two drinks, someone knocked on the door.

The three men instinctively looked towards the door.

Isabella poked her head in. "Long time no see, huh?"

Alexander had already lowered his gaze without a word. Edward and Benjamin were also silent, but Edward still asked, "What are you doing here?"

"Can't I come if there's nothing wrong?" Isabella said as she walked in.

Everything seemed as natural as it was before they returned to the city, she thought.

As she walked over to sit down, Alexander naturally stood up, said, "I have something to do, so I'll leave first," and walked out with his long legs.

Isabella took a seat momentarily before swiftly rising to her feet, suppressing her sense of pride and dignity. She asked him, "Alexander, do you have to be like this? Have you forgotten the friendship we grew up with?"

Alexander stopped at the door but left without looking back.

"Unless you stop making things difficult for Victoria," Edward reminded her.

Isabella immediately fell silent, her eyes already filled with tears.

Benjamin spoke, "Not making things difficult for Victoria is not enough. Unless you can be a normal person."

"What do you mean?" Isabella looked at Benjamin, who was holding a glass of wine.

Benjamin turned to look at her and reminded her, "Just what it means. Since you started having bad intentions, we've been drifting further apart."

"I have bad intentions?" Isabella asked.

"Think about how you got pregnant after being with Sebastian, but you said the child was Alexander's, almost causing Alexander to get a divorce," Edward reminded.

"Also think about how many times you put Victoria in danger," Benjamin added.

"And your father almost raped Victoria," Edward said again.

"Are all these things my fault?" Isabella stood up shortly after sitting down.

"Yes."

"Yes."

Edward and Benjamin were in agreement on these matters.

"You are my friends. Instead of understanding and helping me, you say these things about me?" Isabella questioned again.

"We might not be friends anymore. If you continue to be stubborn, we can only go our separate ways." Benjamin reminded.

It was actually a complete break. But their break wasn't as direct as it would be between men.

Isabella laughed as she listened, even wanting to leave immediately. But when she reached the door, she suddenly turned back, sat down among them again, leaned over to pour herself a glass of wine, and after drinking it, she said, "Fine, I won't make things difficult for Victoria anymore."

It seemed like she had made a big decision.

——

In the midst of the night, Alexander's phone unexpectedly rang, startling him from his sleepless state. With his phone always within reach, he promptly answered, "Hello?"

Frank said, "Mr. Harrington, Mrs. Harrington is injured."
