Chapter 284 He Heard It All!
"I will definitely be his wife," Isabella declared with conviction."And does Alex want to be your husband?" Benjamin countered, a skeptical edge to his voice."He will," she replied.
"No, he won't," Benjamin retorted, his voice firm and resolute.Isabella fell silent, her eyes reflecting a mixture of surprise and disbelief as she stared at Benjamin. Words failed her for a moment. After a pause, she abruptly rose to her feet, her gaze fixed on the silent Benjamin. "We were the best of friends, and yet, you choose to stand with Victoria. I've clearly misjudged you, Benjamin," she said, her voice laced with disappointment. With those words, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Benjamin alone with his thoughts. He raised his glass and took a contemplative sip of his wine. Did Isabella not understand? He wasn't siding with Victoria, but the truth was that Alexander's heart belonged solely to Victoria.A week later, Alexander returned. That night, Victoria went to the bar with Jasmine for a drink, deliberately avoiding any chance of being alone with him. She even sent a message to Eloise, informing her of her plan to stay at her apartment that night. She simply couldn't face Alexander."Victoria?" An unfamiliar voice cut through the noise, calling out her name."Mr. Montague?" Victoria turned around, surprised to see Sebastian standing there."Please, call me Sebastian. What brings you here?" he inquired.Victoria was momentarily taken aback. Jasmine, too, looked at Sebastian with a puzzled expression, noticing that he seemed somewhat weary."Didn't Alexander book the private room upstairs?" Sebastian asked, his question catching Victoria off guard."Alexander?" she echoed, her surprise evident. Was Alexander here as well?Jasmine leaned in, whispering, "Excuse me, Mr. Montague. Are you suggesting that my boss has returned?""Yes, he just landed. He should be arriving soon," Sebastian confirmed. As Sebastian finished speaking, Isabella's voice called out to him. Seeing her, Sebastian's demeanor shifted slightly, his hands instinctively finding their way into his pockets. "You're here too," he greeted her, his tone subdued."Yes, William sent a group message inviting everyone to welcome Alexander home," Isabella explained, a smug smile playing on her lips as she glanced at Victoria. "Victoria, are you joining us?"Before Victoria could respond, Jasmine interjected, "Yes, we're going together."Victoria shot Jasmine a confused look, to which Jasmine responded with a wink. Turning to Sebastian, Jasmine asked, "Mr. Montague, may I accompany Victoria? I am her bodyguard now."Sebastian, amused by Jasmine's audacity, agreed. "Of course, you may.""Thank you, Mr. Montague," Jasmine replied, a satisfied smile on her face.Isabella, however, was less than pleased. "This is a private gathering. How can you allow Jasmine to join?" she protested, before turning on her heel and storming off."What an arrogant woman!" Jasmine muttered to Victoria."We don't have to go," Victoria whispered back."But don't you want to show Isabella that she's not the only one who matters?" Jasmine countered."I'll explain later," Victoria promised.Turning to Sebastian, Victoria politely declined his invitation. "Mr. Montague, we've changed our minds. Goodbye," she said, before pulling Jasmine away."Why aren't we going?" Jasmine asked, clearly confused."I don't want to see Alexander right now," Victoria admitted, trying to make a swift exit before Alexander's arrival."Why don't you want to see Alexander?" Jasmine pressed. "He... he betrayed me. I'm still angry," Victoria lied, an excuse that Jasmine seemed to accept."Are you coming or not? If you're not leaving, I'll go alone," Victoria said, no longer willing to delay. She turned to leave, but froze as she saw Alexander standing at the entrance. Behind him were Benjamin, Edward, and William. Had they all heard her words?
