Chapter 282 Quarreling with Victoria

Victoria's voice was steady as she responded, "It seems that Miss Montgomery is very concerned about my husband and me," her mind echoing with Jason's words.

Isabella retorted, "Indeed, I am concerned. Whatever Alex desires now, he has my unwavering support. We remain the best of friends. The day he summoned you for the divorce, I was right there beside him. It was clear to me that he genuinely sought to end the marriage."

Jasmine, feeling a surge of irritation at Isabella's arrogance, interjected, "Miss Montgomery, you were not the only one present at Mr. Harrington's side that day."

"Of course, it was not just me. Several of our mutual friends were there as well," Isabella defended, her pride shining through despite her annoyance at Jasmine's question.

Inwardly, Jasmine scoffed, 'I knew it wasn't just you. I don't understand why you're so boastful.'

"Victoria," Isabella began again, her gaze fixed on Victoria's unnervingly calm demeanor, "I hope that post-divorce, you'll return to your hometown and cease creating problems for Alex."

"Are you commanding me?" Victoria's voice was icy.

"I have no desire to command you. I simply don't want Alex to be unhappy," Isabella retorted.

"And you're certain that I am the one who would cause him unhappiness?" Victoria challenged.

"Undoubtedly, it's you. If not for you, Alex wouldn't be burdened with the title of a husband," Isabella shot back.

"But Victoria didn't coerce Mr. Harrington into matrimony! In essence, Mr. Harrington willingly assumed the role of a husband," Jasmine couldn't contain herself any longer and countered.

Ever since discovering Victoria's identity, Jasmine had viewed Isabella as a malevolent force. She was appalled that a third party like Isabella had the audacity to continually confront Victoria!

"Ms. Sinclair, you're not privy to the intricacies of Alex and Victoria's relationship. It would be wise not to choose sides prematurely," Isabella warned, noticing Jasmine's alignment with Victoria, underscored by their matching scarves.

"I stand with Victoria. Whose side are you on, the 'third party'?" Jasmine challenged.

Isabella felt a pang of guilt at Jasmine's words. Being a third party was hardly a badge of honor. However, she reasoned, if the couple harbored no affection for each other, the circumstances were different.

With this justification, Isabella retorted, "Alex wed Victoria out of obligation. You should familiarize yourself with the situation before questioning me."

Having said this, Isabella made her exit, unwilling to endure further humiliation from Jasmine.

"Regardless of their reasons for marrying, they remain a couple," Jasmine called after Isabella's retreating figure.

Victoria was taken aback by Jasmine's staunch defense. A wave of embarrassment washed over her.

Once Isabella had departed, Jasmine turned to Victoria, "Isabella is incessantly vying for Mr. Harrington's attention. You must caution Mr. Harrington to keep his distance from her."

Victoria was touched by Jasmine's concern.

Meanwhile, Felix, ensconced in a corner of the café, had observed the entire exchange. He relayed the events to Eloise and Nicolas upon his return.

Eloise's mood soured at the report. "The Montgomery family is all the same. Isabella's mother was a third party who ended up marrying into the Rohans. Now, Isabella is following suit. But we won't be fooled by her."

"Alex and Victoria have been married for quite some time. I believe it's high time the truth was fully revealed," Nicolas proposed.

"I agree," both of them agreed.

Nicolas suddenly asked, "Isn't Vicky's birthday approaching?"

"Yes! September 27. It's just around the corner," Eloise responded, her excitement palpable. They had nearly forgotten.

A shared glance between them sparked an idea.
