Chapter 745 Confrontation, as if to tear her heart out of her chest

"The court doesn't have any record of your divorce."

"How is that even possible?" Victoria shot back.

If they weren't divorced, where did the agreement Alexander signed disappear to?

"This is the reality. How did you conclude you were divorced? Did you ever go through any official procedures? I need more concrete proof," Beck Brown, the attorney, pressed on.

Victoria glanced at the elder chatting nearby and quickly made up her mind, saying, "If you're in the office, I can be there in half an hour."

"Alright, I'll wait for you, but make sure you bring all the necessary documents that can prove your divorce," Beck reminded her before hanging up.

Victoria put down her phone, her mind racing.

When she looked at Arabella and Eloise, she suddenly remembered they had once said that without a Divorce Decree, it wasn't considered a divorce. Coupled with what Alexander had drunkenly said in her arms last night, Victoria looked up at the changing sky, and her heart began to pound.

Could it be that they really weren't divorced?

"Victoria," Arabella suddenly called her.

Victoria snapped back to reality and said, "I'm coming."

"This is my daughter-in-law, Victoria. Victoria, this is Mrs. Berke. She was abroad for a long time and just returned. She's a good friend of mine," Arabella introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Berke," Victoria greeted politely.

"Victoria, I really like your name. Can you drink?" Harper Berke asked with a smile.

"She doesn't handle alcohol well, and she is breastfeeding, so she can't drink now. But maybe in the future, she can join us for a drink," Arabella said, knowing Harper was a heavy drinker and not wanting her to lead Victoria astray.

"That works. By the way, I heard they got divorced. Isn't Daisy from the Bryant Family pursuing Alexander?" Harper asked.

"If they were really divorced, would I introduce her like this? Some people just wish they were divorced and spread rumors," Arabella explained.

Victoria looked at Arabella and suddenly wondered if Arabella knew something.

"Mrs. Berke, Mom, Mr. Alexander Harrington needs to see me for something. Can I leave for a bit?" Victoria asked.

Harper asked with a puzzled smile, "Mr. Alexander Harrington?"

"It's just a little game between the couple. Go ahead," Arabella said, holding Harper's hand to signal her not to ask more questions and letting Victoria leave.

Eloise was resting on the other side. Victoria went to greet her before leaving, letting Eloise know she was heading out.

Victoria went to the law firm, the only one in Ankenra City that dared to take her case.

And the attorney said that as long as she had evidence, he could help her out.

She didn't expect to be photographed when she left the firm, nor did she expect Alexander to call her so quickly. He asked, "I heard I had something to ask you to come back for. Did you go to another dimension?"

"I'll be back," Victoria immediately hung up the phone.

According to Beck, she needed to find that agreement.

But before looking for the agreement, she had to get her car from Alexander's place.

Before the end of the workday, she drove her Beetle back to the office building.

Victoria opened the heavy door to the CEO's office, only to find it empty. The suspicion felt like a cold weight pressing on her heart, nearly extinguishing the last flicker of warmth.

But it was good that he wasn't there. She walked in, gently closed the door, and headed straight for his desk.

"Ms. Kensington, you're so brave. How dare you enter my office without permission?"Just as she grabbed the drawer handle, she heard a voice from the side. She looked up and saw Alexander leaning against the door of the lounge, a faint smile on his face as he walked towards her with those long strides.

"I've been waiting for you," Alexander said, leaning against the drawer.

He looked so relaxed, like he had everything under control.

Victoria watched him approach, silently stepping back, but then she looked him straight in the eye and asked, "Are we divorced?"

"As you wish."

"Then why doesn't the court have any record of our divorce?"

"What?" Alexander's eyes still held a hint of a smile as he looked at her, seemingly curious about her suppressed anger.

"The court doesn't have any record of our divorce," Victoria repeated, thinking it over. This was too important to her; she couldn't avoid it out of fear.

"You went to the court?" Alexander asked with a cold smile.

"Yes, and you insisted on letting Leander called me Mrs. Harrington," Victoria said.

Alexander's smiling eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her, "Why do you care about drunken nonsense?"

Victoria thought he was shameless, but at the same time, she felt relieved.

At least this proved he didn't suspect her.

She didn't want him to know she had consulted a lawyer too soon.

"So, are we divorced or not?"

"Whether my marriage is still valid or not, I can't make it public. Otherwise, anyone could use it against me."

"What do you mean?" Victoria was confused.

Could he really not make it public?

She didn't believe it.

They had been trending on social media countless times before.

And he wasn't a public figure who shied away from revealing his private life.

"It means I deliberately didn't have them keep a record," Alexander said, looking at the shocked Victoria, then smiled and whispered, "If you're in a hurry to remarry and need that Divorce Decree, I don't mind going through the divorce procedures again."

"Then let's do it again."

"Are you getting remarried?"

"Yes," Victoria had actually thought it through and responded quickly.

She couldn't bear the uncertainty, the gnawing sense of being kept in the dark. What she craved was clarity, visible to everyone now.

"Then call him out to meet me."

"What?" Victoria was stunned, looking at his dark eyes.

"How do I know if that man can make you happy? You know you've never had great taste in men."

Victoria felt that Alexander was even denying himself.

He was really something.

But where was she going to find a man to pretend to be her remarriage partner now?

"My taste in men may be mediocre, but I won't regret it. You just need to go to the court with me to get the Divorce Decree reissued."

"Unless you agree not to see Strawberry again," Alexander suddenly said.

Victoria listened to his cold voice and asked in confusion, "What does this have to do with Strawberry?"

"How do I know what kind of man he is? I can't let Strawberry meet such a person. Either you sign an agreement not to see Strawberry, or you bring him to meet me."

"Alexander, you..."

"This is who I am. You always knew I was mean, unreasonable, domineering, and overbearing."

"You..."

He even said the words she wanted to use to scold him. He was really something.

Victoria looked at him angrily, unable to find new words to curse him.

Alexander suddenly walked towards her again, and Victoria retreated precariously.

Then her heart trembled, and she found herself sitting in his chair, spinning half a turn.

But soon, she found herself sitting steadily in front of him. Alexander leaned in, his hands gripping the armrests of the chair, bringing their faces level, their gazes locked. His eyes bore into hers with an intensity that felt almost palpable, as if he wanted to tear her heart out of her chest and examine it closely.
