Chapter 874 When She Didn't Want to Leave, He Wanted Her to Leave
Victoria stirred awake on the final morning of the holiday and was taken to the VIP ward.
On the way, she seemed to see Alexander, but she wasn't sure.
She was in a fog until the medication faded away.
"Don't talk yet, just listen to me. I can help you take Strawberry away, as long as..."
When Victoria saw everything around her clearly, she had finished listening to that sentence.
It was Diana.
Victoria looked at Diana and, with a hoarse voice from not speaking for a long time, asked, "Where's Alexander?"
"Alexander went to the doctor to find out more about your condition, so can you prove what I'm telling you?"
"Diana, I don't want to leave."
"What?"
"I want to see Alexander, is that okay?"
Victoria was a bit confused about the current situation. Did Alexander go to see the doctor?
Did he want her dead?
She was alive.
Was he disappointed?
Would he want her dead and then find a stepmother for Strawberry, and then?
Diana was squatting by the bed, staring at Victoria, looking a bit bewildered.
Victoria stared at the ceiling light, thinking about the past few days.
She had many dreams.
She wanted to be with her parents, forever.
But she came back to life.
Victoria vaguely heard someone say that a man had been standing outside for several days.
She only thought of Alexander; she wanted to know if that person was Alexander.
Then, Victoria woke up.
When the door sounded, Diana stood up, "Alexander."
Victoria heard that and slowly turned her eyes.
Alexander was a bit far from her bed, only taking two steps inside before asking, "Is she awake?"
"Yes, she said..."
"You go out first."
Alexander said firmly in a low voice.
Diana didn't know what was going to happen, but she felt she should obey, so she lowered her head and left the room.
When closing the door, Diana curiously glanced inside, only to see that the two seemed to be far apart, not meeting each other.
Victoria couldn't see Alexander clearly, but she knew it was him.
His presence was easy to notice.
"Do you want to leave?"
"No."
Alexander lowered his head and slowly walked to her bedside, but only stood there with a bitter smile.
It must be his illusion.
Or she was lying to him again?
Alexander smiled bitterly but never looked at Victoria.
He had seen her when she was pushed out of the ICU; her face was completely drained of color.
That face seemed to tell him it was all his fault.
Alexander walked to the window, looking at the light rain outside, and continued, "You should leave. Abroad is more suitable for you. You can come back to see Strawberry without going through me."
Victoria weakly looked at Alexander's tall and straight back, feeling a bit confused.
"In the future, we don't need to contact each other. If you want to see Strawberry, call the elders at the Harrington Mansion or anyone else. Just say you want to see her, and they will bring Strawberry to you, but not for too long."
Victoria suddenly couldn't tell if she was in reality or a dream.
What he said seemed real.
"Strawberry is young now. You can see her once every two months, for a maximum of three days each time. When she starts school, it will be the same during the holidays. Specifically... a lawyer will talk to you."
Victoria swallowed all the words she was about to say.
She just silently listened, not even needing to look at Alexander to confirm the truth.
Then, Alexander left.
She heard the door close and the pattering rain.
'Did he not want me dead?'
'Then, if I died in the future, would he retrieve my body?'
Victoria, her mind in a jumble, naively thought.
She suddenly couldn't do anything or say anything.
The person who had been standing outside for several days might not have been Alexander.
Or maybe, she suddenly thought of Adrian.
The one who called her might have been Adrian too.
Victoria had a continuous fever.
A week later, Victoria was discharged from the hospital, and Alexander took her to the Harrington Mansion.
Before getting out of the car, Alexander spoke to her for the first time.
"Once inside, whatever I say goes. Don't argue, don't explain, and you will be free."
Victoria lowered her head after hearing this, which was considered consent.
Victoria felt that Alexander was a man who could control her destiny.
She would obediently listen to him.
She no longer dared to hope to see Strawberry every day.
As long as they could occasionally meet.
"Are you going back?"
Arabella heard Alexander's words but asked Victoria.
Victoria obediently nodded, "Yes."
"It's good for you to rest for a while, but I'll go with you."
Victoria looked at Arabella in surprise, not knowing how to respond, and then looked at Alexander.
"What are you going to do? There are so many things at home that need your attention."
"What's the difference if we talk over the phone? I also want to visit your in-laws."
Arabella said, then thought for a while and added, "Take Strawberry with you, take your private jet."
Alexander hesitated and didn't speak.
Arabella looked at Eloise and Brett, who were sitting peacefully in front, and asked, "Mom, Dad, what do you think?"
"I think it's a good idea. Victoria, would you like Arabella and Strawberry to accompany you back?"
Eloise gently asked Victoria.
Eloise felt that Victoria was a bit different after waking up this time.
Victoria used to be cautious, but now she was timid. Or did she have no thoughts of her own?
Victoria seemed like a puppet, only to be commanded.
And who that person was didn't need to be stated; the elders could tell the moment the two sat down.
Victoria clenched her hands, not knowing what to do for a long time, and then looked up at Alexander beside her.
Alexander looked at Victoria indifferently for a long time before saying, "Okay."
Victoria felt a warmth in her heart and was about to express her gratitude.
"But not for too long," Alexander added.
Victoria recalled that he only allowed her to stay with Strawberry for three days at a time, and then she sat there dejectedly without saying a word.
Alexander saw her picking at her hands and instinctively reached out.
Victoria suddenly saw a hand appear in front of her and didn't dare to move, even though she couldn't confirm if it was real or an illusion, but she was already so nervous that she didn't dare to breathe.
The elders were also stunned, holding their breath and quietly waiting.
But that hand didn't fall, and in the end, it was taken back.
Victoria quietly relaxed but was afraid of revealing emotions she shouldn't have, so she immediately tensed up again, pinching her finger joints hard.
Arabella's heart tightened as she watched. If Alexander had put his hand down, would there have been a significant change?
But he put his hand back on his thigh.
Victoria nervously pinched her finger joints red, just wanting to end this meeting quickly.
Someone from the kitchen came out and said, "Mrs. Arabella Harrington, dinner will be ready in ten minutes."
"Okay, I know."
"We're not staying."
Alexander stood up.
