Chapter 724 In My Eyes, You're Just My Daughter's Nanny
"You don't have to lose Strawberry, and I don't have to lose her either, as long as you come back to be my secretary." Alexander walked back, leaned down in front of her, and seriously proposed.
Victoria quietly looked at him, feeling a mix of emotions.
At this moment, she could even feel his clear breath. Did it mean that what he just said was real?
As long as she became his secretary again, Neither of them would have to lose Strawberry?
As long as she returned to this place, they wouldn't have to be at each other's throats? She wouldn't have to remove her womb?
Seeing her hesitation, Alexander added, "I'll give you ten minutes to think about it. You can either come back as my secretary and see Strawberry every morning and evening, or fight me to the end, with both of us losing everything."
Victoria looked at his confident demeanor, and her heart inexplicably felt heavy.
Alexander said calmly, "But you have to understand, the latter is a decision we will both regret. If we fight to the end, not only might our elders not be able to bear it, but even Strawberry might not be able to face it in the future."
After a while, he continued, "We both love her. Do we want her to know that because of her, our family was torn apart? Neither of us wants that outcome, right? If we divorce peacefully, if..."
Victoria looked at him, still finding it unbelievable. Her eyes gradually became moist. Before the tears fell, she lowered her gaze. She indeed needed to think carefully.
Alexander sat next to her, his eyes fixed on her, just waiting.
Ten minutes, very quickly.
It was much faster than those more than four hundred days.
Alexander added in a certain tone, "When Janaye safely gives birth to her child, if she wants to come back, you can resign again."
Victoria looked up at him, suddenly feeling a sense of unreality.
She was about to have her womb removed, and suddenly, he just wanted her to be his secretary?
"Just like that, I won't lose Strawberry?"
"Yes."
"If I become your secretary again, can I live with Strawberry alone?"
Alexander asked, "Have you canceled the lease on the apartment you rented before?"
Victoria's mind immediately shook.
She only paid for a year's rent, and she had been abroad for more than a year, so...
"I can find another place, immediately," Victoria said, immediately taking out her phone.
But before she could turn it on, her hand was held.
Alexander looked at her solemnly, saying, "So, you're agreeing to come back as my secretary?"
Victoria's hand trembled. She looked up at him, her mind still a bit hot, but she instinctively nodded. "Yes, as long as I don't have to live in Metro House."
"You'll still have to go back occasionally; the elders will miss Strawberry," Alexander reminded her seriously.
Victoria thought for a moment and said, "Okay, I'll find a place first."
"You could ask your landlord; maybe they haven't rented it out yet?"
"Okay."
Victoria actually felt that what he said made a lot of sense.
She didn't know why, but suddenly, she felt he was a good person again.
He was no longer so aggressive, looking kind, even radiant.
"I need to use the restroom," Alexander said, letting go of her hand, then got up and walked out.
Victoria watched him leave, then immediately made a phone call.
Janaye was still outside. Seeing Alexander come out, she immediately started crying, "Mr. Harrington."
"You can go home and rest for a year, and your salary will still be paid."
"What?"
"If you don't understand, forget it."
"I understand; I'll leave right away."
Janaye immediately went to pack her things.
Alexander opened his phone and glanced at Janaye's desk, saying, "Before you leave, do one more thing for me."
"Yes, Mr. Harrington, please instruct," Janaye immediately agreed.
Victoria sent a message to the landlord, who replied a few seconds later.
The landlord: [You can continue the lease.]
Victoria immediately breathed a sigh of relief. She suddenly felt a bit confused, not knowing why, but everything seemed too smooth.Suddenly, it turned out like this.
Just by becoming a secretary again, she wouldn't be separated from Strawberry?
Her phone rang again quickly, and she answered, "Olivia."
"Why did you turn off your phone? Which hospital are you at? If you're going crazy, let me tell you..."
"Olivia, I'm in Alexander's office at the Harrington Group."
"What?"
Olivia suddenly fell silent.
"Alexander said that as long as I become his secretary again, I can stay with Strawberry."
"Really?"
Holding her phone, Olivia was standing at the entrance of the downtown hospital with Edward. As she spoke, she looked at Edward, full of surprise and relief.
Victoria said softly, "Yes, but I can't go abroad anymore."
"Victoria, as long as you don't have to remove your womb, that's good. So, are you going back to work at the Harrington Group?"
"It seems so."
"That's great. Since you're in the city, we can see each other often and look out for each other."
Olivia said with a smile, but tears still streamed down her face.
Edward stood with his hands on his hips under the scorching sun, watching his wife cry and laugh. He helplessly held her shoulder and took the phone, saying, "Let me tell you, Victoria, Olivia has run to three hospitals for you today. The journey wasn't easy. You better appreciate her."
"Of course." Victoria was deeply moved by Edward's words.
When Alexander returned, he saw her wiping away tears and smiling, not knowing who she was talking to. His eyes flashed with displeasure, and he immediately walked over. Seeing it was Olivia, he relaxed a bit, but since he had already taken the phone, he put it to his ear and looked at Victoria.
Suddenly having her phone taken, she naturally wanted to see who took it. But seeing it was him, she suddenly quieted down.
"I'm telling you, Olivia has not been doing well lately because she has been worried about you. If you don't know how to be grateful, then..."
"Then what? When did Olivia's matters become your business?"
Edward was stunned by Alexander's questioning.
Alexander immediately hung up the phone and said, "Ignore him."
He handed the phone back to her and then sat down next to Victoria again, saying, "Did you get the details about the apartment?"
"Yes, it hasn't been rented out yet. But, weren't you a bit too harsh on Mr. Sinclair?"
Alexander said irritably, "Isn't that how I always am?"
Alexander thought to himself, 'I'm standing up for you!'
Victoria's phone rang again. She glanced at it, thinking it was Olivia, but it was Adrian. After some consideration, she decided to hang up.
But Adrian persistently called again. Victoria hung up twice, then thought better of it and answered, "Adrian."
"Are we still friends?" The voice on the other end was humble and without temper.
Victoria's eyes welled up, "Yes."
Adrian asked with concern, "Don't ignore my calls. I worry about you. Where are you now? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Victoria thought of everything Adrian had done for her and could only respond patiently.
But as soon as she responded, Alexander's eyes immediately darkened.
He quickly strode back to his desk, opened a file, and while reading it, said, "Schedule a meeting with Ms. Bryant for tonight. Oh, and I'll be taking Strawberry with me. You should come too."
Victoria had just hung up the phone when she heard him say this. She looked at him in confusion, saying, "Why are you taking Strawberry to your date with Ms. Bryant?"
"Why don't you ask why I'm taking you?"
"Because you see me as Strawberry's nanny."
She was clear about this.
Last time, he had ordered her around in front of Daisy, and she immediately knew he saw her as Strawberry's nanny.
After all, if he saw her as Strawberry's mom, he wouldn't have given her those orders.
"Yes, in my eyes, you're just a nanny for my daughter. If I'm taking Strawberry to meet a woman who might be her future stepmother, of course, I need to bring Strawberry to build a relationship. As for you, you're indeed just a nanny. When we need to be alone, you can take Strawberry outside."
