Chapter 650 All I Can Think About Is You

Isabella underwent a sudden transformation, becoming gentle and serene.

She stopped keeping watch over Alexander's place and began spending more time with Timothy.

That night, Sebastian was having dinner with Benjamin and Alexander. Sebastian mentioned, "She hasn't contacted me for a long time. Has she finally given up on Alexander?"

Benjamin also said, "She's been getting close to Timothy from the west side of town lately."

Alexander just looked indifferently at the wine in his glass; he still didn't like mentioning her.

After sitting for less than half an hour, he grabbed his coat and stood up, "Put it on my tab. Victoria hasn't been feeling well lately, so I'm going back to accompany her."

Benjamin and Sebastian couldn't help but laugh after he left, "He's in a hurry to get home now."

"But isn't this good?" Sebastian turned to Benjamin and asked.

"That's right, this is probably the life Alexander has always wanted. He finally got it," Benjamin agreed.

In fact, they all longed for a peaceful life.

——

Olivia was visiting their new house. After greeting Eloise, she went upstairs to the living room with Victoria, where Olivia suggested expanding their new territory.

"Are you sure you still want to partner with me? We both know you have the capability to go solo," Victoria thoughtfully reminded her.

"What's the fun in going solo? There's no one to discuss things with. We're both only children and get along so well, let's just do it together for fun," Olivia explained.

"Even if I want to work hard, to be honest, the projects I've invested in haven't shown any returns yet," Victoria added.

"Are you talking about your charity work?"

"Not entirely charity, just that the returns will take longer."

"That's why you need a business with quick returns," Olivia suggested.

Victoria could feel Olivia's determination to pull her into the venture.

But she really didn't have much money now. She had previously borrowed money from Alexander out of necessity.

If she asked him for money again now, he would certainly give it to her, but she couldn't bring herself to mention it.

After Olivia left, Victoria returned to the living room, looking slightly pensive.

Eloise took her hand, "What's wrong? What did Olivia say to make you so worried?"

"No, I'm fine, Grandma. How about we play chess?"

"Sure, at home, it's always your father-in-law and grandfather playing. I never get a chance."

"Then wait here, I'll go get the chessboard," Victoria said as she ran inside.Eloise sensed that Victoria was still holding something back, but she didn't press the issue. They continued their game of chess at a steady pace.

When Alexander came in, he saw the scene unfold: Victoria was resting her chin on her hand, deeply focused on a black piece, her expression both intense and enigmatic.

He found himself drawn to the sight, his eyes locked on the chessboard where her piece was poised.

He thought, 'She is undoubtedly going to win, yet her troubled look is...'

Alexander sighed, realizing something with a small, resigned smile.

That soft smile caught Victoria's attention. She looked up, her beautiful eyes meeting his.

He was wearing a simple white shirt, his gaze warm and tender, which made her heart flutter.

Alexander gently cradled the back of her head and whispered, "It must be tough to lose this game, isn't it?"

Victoria's eyes widened in surprise and then in delight.

He saw through her.

Eloise, peering through her gold-rimmed reading glasses, was intensely focused on the chessboard, her brows furrowed in concentration. She hadn't yet decided on her move.

Hearing Alexander mention the word "lose," she looked up, puzzled. "Who's supposed to lose?"

"Of course, it's you," Alexander answered with a considerate tone.

"Really? Is that so?"

Eloise's voice was laced with skepticism as she continued to scrutinize the board.

Alexander crouched beside Victoria and whispered in her ear, "You…"

Victoria, noticing Eloise's tightly knit brows, felt a pang of sympathy. She carefully moved her piece forward.

"Hold on, I've got it now."

Eloise suddenly decided on her move and placed her piece on the board.

With Victoria and Alexander watching curiously, Eloise set her piece down.

Victoria began to understand why Brett rarely played chess with Eloise; her style was surprisingly adorable.

"Let's call it a day."

Alexander's voice was gentle.

"Call it a day?" Eloise thought she might have misheard.

Alexander glanced at Eloise, surprised by her sharp hearing that evening, and then turned his attention back to Victoria.

Victoria slowly placed her piece close to Eloise's, saying, "Grandma, it's really tough to win against you."

"Did I win?"

Eloise's eyes, peering through her reading glasses, were fixed on the board.

Alexander chuckled with a touch of exasperation, "You lost."

He settled beside Victoria, casually draping an arm around her shoulder as he watched Eloise with a smile.

Victoria had been completely absorbed in Eloise, but his sudden proximity and the way his hand idly caressed her shoulder made her feel unexpectedly warm, even in the middle of winter.

"This is getting ridiculous," she murmured. "I must be more tired than I thought. I can't handle this. I need to rest. Erica, Erica, come help me to my room." Eloise called.

"I'm coming!"

Victoria said, "Nana, let me help you."

"No need, you should take it easy. You know, I just realized why I lost."

"Why's that, Nana?"

"It's because you seem like just one person, but actually, you're two people. Losing to both of you is only natural."

Eloise's expression brightened with a mischievous grin.

Erica came over to help Eloise, who turned and started walking back inside on her own. Erica moved to assist her, but Eloise insisted, "No need for help. I'm not so old I can't walk on my own!"

Victoria watched Eloise with an affectionate laugh. "Eloise is just the cutest old rascal. How can anyone be so charming at her age?"

Meanwhile, Alexander gazed at Victoria, lost in thought. It struck him that she was no longer just a girl; she was now the mother of his child. Yet she still looked so delicate.

His heart softened, and he gently ran his fingers through her hair, placing a tender kiss on her temple.

Victoria snapped back to the present and looked at him. They were so close that she couldn't make out his features clearly, but at that moment, she felt she didn't need to. She knew him completely.

"Weren't you headed to the gathering with Mr. Beaumont and the others? What brought you back so soon?"

"I realized I just couldn't bring myself to stay at the party anymore."

Alexander's voice was low and husky. "Why?"

Victoria gazed at him with a look of pure curiosity. In the past, they used to gather almost every night. Although Edward had become less available due to Olivia's pregnancy, Sebastian had joined them once he returned from abroad.

Now, as she looked into his intense eyes, she suddenly felt as if he was there for her, a fantasy that made her cheeks flush with warmth. She repeatedly reminded herself to stay composed, to protect herself from further hurt.

Yet, without her realizing it, Alexander's seductive fingers had found their way to the side of her ear, his gaze locked with hers. He spoke softly, with sincere intensity, "Because whenever I'm with them, all I can think about is you."
