Chapter 773 He Regrets and Apologizes

"Why are you so worked up?" Alexander was taken aback by Victoria.

"Get out." Victoria pointed to the door, her voice icy.

Seeing the anger and disappointment on her face, Alexander sincerely apologized and leaned in to kiss her.

"Don't touch me, you make me sick." Victoria shoved him hard, making him stumble back.

"I apologize, I'll be honest, okay? I didn't go see Daisy. The guests left around 3 AM last night, and I went upstairs right after seeing them off. All the hotel staff can vouch for me."

Alexander realized he was in deep trouble as he saw how upset she was. When he noticed her awkwardly getting out of bed, he quickly moved to block her path while explaining.

"I don't care about those vouches or anything," Victoria shot back, standing barefoot at the foot of the bed.

Seeing Alexander still approaching, she raised her hand to stop him. "Don't come any closer. Stay out as late as you want. I'm just your ex-wife. My biggest New Year's wish is for you to stop bothering me. You're really annoying, you know that?" Her voice was rising.

Alexander stopped in his tracks, looking at her in frustration. She said he was annoying? Was she annoyed by him?

But he had already tried his best to hold back. He even waited until late at night to find her. He restrained himself from trying to talk to her every moment of every day. But she was still annoyed?

In his exasperation, he questioned, "So, because you're annoyed with me, you don't want our child either, right?"

"What are you talking about?" Victoria was confused.

"Okay, I get it." With that, Alexander turned and walked out.

Victoria stood there, dumbfounded, really confused by his words. Why did he say she didn't want Strawberry?

"Tell her to put on her slippers." Alexander walked outside and reminded Jenny as he took Strawberry from her.

Jenny stood there momentarily dazed before noticing Victoria barefoot. She quickly fetched her plush slippers. "Mrs. Harrington, you might catch a cold."

Victoria didn't hesitate and immediately put on the slippers, then chased after Alexander.

She walked faster and faster, her heart growing more anxious.

Was this another excuse to separate her from Strawberry?

But when she ran downstairs, he had already left with Strawberry.

"Mrs. Harrington, you have a call," Jenny called from upstairs, holding her phone.

Victoria glanced at it but still opened the door to chase after them. The sound of the elevator closing told her she really couldn't catch up.

At that moment, her heart felt like it had fallen off a cliff, leaving only a desolate shell. She dejectedly returned to the suite.

Jenny handed her the phone and said, "It's Mrs. Eloise Harrington."

Hearing that, Victoria suddenly felt hopeful again. She immediately put the phone to her ear, "Grandma."

"When are you coming back today? I was thinking we women could go shopping together. It's almost New Year, we should get into the festive spirit."

"Grandma, he... Alexander took Strawberry first. Do you know where they went?" Victoria hesitated, trying to phrase it without sounding abrupt.

"Mom, Alex said he would bring them back soon. The car is downstairs at the hotel." Arabella's words on the other end left Victoria stunned.

"Grandma, I'll be right back." Victoria suddenly understood and rushed outside regardless of everything.

Jenny chased to the door, "Mrs. Harrington, you're wearing pajamas."

"It doesn't matter." Victoria hurriedly ran towards the elevator.

Hearing Arabella's words, she knew he was downstairs. At that moment, she was suddenly convinced that he was waiting for her. She had to get down there, as fast as she could.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, she rushed out. People in the lobby couldn't help but stop and stare.

In the elevator, Victoria couldn't shake the fear that he would leave with Strawberry and take her away forever. When she saw the car still parked there, she felt a wave of relief but didn't dare slow down.

But as she approached, the car started to move. Desperately, she shouted, "Wait!"

She had no idea what she looked like now. She just kept running, ignoring the pain in her body and the cold wind piercing her bones. All she wanted was to catch up to that car and confront him.

"Victoria." Suddenly, a stern voice from behind. Her frantic steps stopped, and she turned around.

Seeing the tall figure through her blurry eyes, her heart slowly sank, and she took deep breaths.

Alexander handed Strawberry to someone else, then took off his coat and walked towards her. "You must be freezing in this outfit."

When he draped the coat over her shoulders, Victoria felt a warmth surge through her. She glanced at Strawberry, and tears started to fall.

With too many people around, she buried herself in his arms, her tears a silent testament to her fear and trepidation. She suppressed the urge to cry out loud, holding onto him tightly.

In that moment, Victoria finally understood what she looked like just now.—like a mother about to be separated from her child forever.

She was beyond terrified, terrified of losing Strawberry, the child she risked her life to give birth to. The thought of Alexander taking Strawberry away was unbearable. He couldn't just take Strawberry away.

Victoria clutched his shirt, crying silently on his chest. She slowly came back to her senses after she felt a gentle hand on the back of her head.

She wiped away her tears with his shirt and her hands, then stood up silently. As if the crybaby just now wasn't her.

She quietly lowered her head and said softly, "Grandma said she's waiting for us at the Harrington Mansion to go shopping."

Alexander replied, "That's why I'm waiting for you."

She kept her head down and didn't look up again. His answer made everything clear. She knew he wouldn't have waited for her unless Eloise had specifically asked him to.

Alexander said, "Let's get in the car first."

"Okay." Victoria didn't say anything else. When she saw Alexander pick up Strawberry again, she got into the car and sat down.

Alexander followed with Strawberry and sat next to her. She immediately turned, unable to resist the urge to hold Strawberry.

The car door closed, and they started heading towards the mansion on the hill.

"Let me hold her for a while," Victoria said.

Alexander looked at her with concern. "Are you sure? Your back has been bothering you.""I won't move," Victoria replied as she just wanted to hold her and sit still, even for a little while.

Seeing how afraid she was of losing Strawberry, Alexander thought for a moment and said in a deep voice, "Just for a while."

"Okay," Victoria agreed obediently.

Alexander's heart softened, and he gently placed Strawberry in her arms. Strawberry, almost five months old, was getting cuter by the day.

Victoria kissed Strawberry, then turned to look out the window. Alexander watched her for a moment before also gazing outside.

At this moment, if anyone saw them, they would think they were a warm family. But in reality, each had their own thoughts.

Victoria, sensing the tension, couldn't help but steal a glance at Alexander's cold expression.
