Chapter 817 Sure enough, He Was Standing Outside the Door
"You don't have to do that."
Victoria responded softly, forcing a smile, and politely walked past Alexander into the room.
Alexander stood there, his hand still not withdrawn, feeling a pang of sadness as he watched her walk in with her bag.
Mason, fearing Alexander might feel awkward because of his presence, quickly turned his face away.
But Alexander still noticed Mason's deliberate avoidance, feeling even more heartbroken, and could only lower his head and walk inside.
"How could I have diabetes? If I were to get it, I should have gotten it long ago. Victoria, what should I do? I love sweets the most."
Eloise whined, holding Victoria's hand as they sat by the bed.
"We can still have them in the future, just in moderation."
Victoria comforted her gently.
"But I'm still so sad," Eloise said.
"How about this, whenever I find delicious desserts, I'll bring them to you to try, okay? But you have to be like Strawberry and only eat a little bit."
"It's depressing, but I'll listen to you."
Eloise cheered up again, touching Victoria's face and lamenting, "What made you lose weight? Are you eating properly? You're making me worry even more."
"I am eating well, but if it makes you happy, I'll eat more. Next time we meet, I'll gain at least two pounds, okay?"
Victoria promised Eloise.
"Really?"
"As long as it isn't tomorrow."
"Victoria, my dear, you being here makes me feel so much better."
Eloise hugged Victoria, feeling touched.
Alexander stood silently watching, feeling like an outsider.
But Victoria's smile was so sweet.
He always liked staring at Victoria, even though she had once made him so angry. He just couldn't help but love her.
That day, someone even tried to push a woman into his arms, saying she could make him happy, but he felt so disgusted.
He had no interest in women who could make him happy; instead, he was particularly interested in Victoria, who couldn't make him happy and often made him feel miserable. He was curious if she had any feelings at all.
What did she want with all those appeals?
To fight him?
According to the facts, she should have won the impossible divorce case.
Charles Montague had once cautiously reminded Alexander that Victoria could be granted a divorce.
And she could also get custody of their child.
But Alexander wouldn't give her that chance.
Everyone thought she was the weak one, but she wasn't.
She was very capable and knew how to make him suffer.
Arabella heard they were back and came in from outside. Seeing Victoria making Eloise happy and Alexander staring at Victoria, she smiled helplessly and said, "Victoria is back."
"Mom."
Victoria turned around to greet her.
"Your grandmother is so much happier now that you're back. Why not stay a few more days?"
"Sure."
Arabella genuinely wanted her to stay, and Victoria could only agree.
"Victoria, you really should stay with me for a few more days. You don't know how much I miss you every day."
"Then I'll stay with you for a few more days."
Hearing Eloise's plea, Victoria had no choice but to agree.
Arabella secretly noticed the calculating look in Alexander's eyes and couldn't help but pat him.
Alexander immediately snapped out of it and suddenly became serious.
After dinner, Victoria stayed in Eloise's room to play chess with her. Eloise still liked to take back her moves, just like before.
Seeing Eloise having so much fun, Victoria could only accompany her, which made Alexander very frustrated.
Alexander was in the living room watching the news with the elders. He glanced at his watch and said, "It's about time. Grandma just fainted; she should go to bed early."
"She slept all day; of course, she can't sleep now."
Brett muttered.
Maximus saw through Alexander's thoughts but didn't rush to help, continuing to watch the news with Brett.
Alexander, annoyed, glanced at the TV and muttered, "Elderly people should go to bed early."
"Mind your own business. If you're tired, go to bed yourself. I didn't ask you to stay with me."Brett said impatiently.
Alexander, even more frustrated, looked to Maximus for help.
Maximus smiled, "Dad, Victoria's back isn't well. She's been with Mom for two hours."
Hearing that Victoria's back wasn't well, Brett finally said, "I'll go to bed after this news segment."
What it meant was to not rush.
Alexander even started thinking about where the power control room was, wanting to cut the power.
Half an hour later, Brett finally went to his room. "Are you still not done? Victoria's back will be ruined. Pack it up and continue tomorrow. Let her rest."
Brett said unhurriedly.
"My memory is so bad. Victoria, I'm sorry, I forgot about your back injury. Go rest."
"Okay, Grandma, I'll take the chessboard away."
Victoria said, about to move the chessboard from the bed, but Eloise quickly stopped her, "You go alone. Your grandpa will have someone else clean up."
"Go rest. Alexander has been urging for an hour, worried about your back."
"Okay, goodnight, Grandpa and Grandma."
Victoria was surprised; she didn't expect Alexander to worry about her back pain.
But she was more worried about whether she could get a good night's sleep.
As soon as she stepped out, Alexander was standing outside. She walked ahead with her head down, not stopping.
She took the elevator upstairs, and Alexander followed.
Victoria stood beside him, instinctively holding her other arm.
Alexander stood quietly in the middle, looking straight ahead.
It only took a few seconds to go up, but Victoria didn't rush out, nor did he.
Before the elevator closed, Victoria hurriedly blocked the door.
Seeing her move forward, Alexander quickly blocked it too, then looked at her worriedly, "What are you doing?"
Victoria said nothing, lowering her head as she walked out.
Alexander quickly followed with long strides, "Do you know it's dangerous to block the elevator door like that?"
Victoria turned at the door, "I know."
"If you know, why did you do it?"
Alexander didn't expect her to be so impatient.
"It was just an instinctive reaction, and why are you so harsh? I thought you would come out first."
Alexander then realized she was waiting for him.
Victoria was about to say she would go to bed, but he suddenly said, "Then why didn't you tell me earlier? If you had told me to come out first, I would have."
"Alright, then, I'm telling you now, please sleep in the guest room."
